Is the Mojave going to be more dangerous with DLCs added?

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 12:55 am

Well seeing how our level cap is going to be increased its going to make things a lot more easier than what they already are, so my question is will the Mojave Wasteland be more dangerous in other words tougher enemies or will the tough enemies just be in dlc related area. Do you guys think the new enemies should only be in the dlc area or the enemies should both be in the Mojave and the dlc?

Some of the enemies in the mojave that scale with the player will support higher levels. The non-leveling enemies won't get any tougher though, and most don't level. It would be nice if in LR, they did add a new level or two to the basic spawn lists for all creatures/generic enemies. We might finally get the Legendary Bloatfly then. :celebration:

Do you mean that as the player raises his level, the enemies should too? If that's the question, then yes. When you reach level 45, and most presumably 50 with LR coming soon, I think it'd become very easy to kill a Deathclaw. But if they raise along with you, it will be just as hard to kill it as when you were fighting one 20 levels ago. It would be too easy if they didn't but even if the game doesn't do this, it still goes unnoticed. I'm on level 32 and I still find it hard to kill a dang gecko. They move around too much to get decent aim!!! :banghead:

Be careful what you ask for here. Google Oblivion leveling system before you ask for fully leveled enemies. I like the area specific/tiered approach to enemies that Josh took with NV, I just think they should add another tier to the top for some of the areas to support us all the way to 50.

yes enemies should also level up as the courier does and also a couple of new creatures/hostile humans throughout the Mojave they should also be scaled with the couriers level

I imagine a select few areas would but, overall not really. I mean after 30 you're pretty much a God anyway.

Side note: I also would not object to enemies scaling with my Courier. Would keep him on his toes. :hubbahubba:

Level 30 radroaches are idiotic. There's a reason 9 out of 10 people that played Oblivion installed overhaul mods.

I'm not saying to make all enemies the same level as the player. I mean make them level how they were.

Say the Courier is on level 20. Deathclaws level 30, radroaches level 5.

The courier raises to level 30, Deathclaws raise to level 40 and Radroaches raise to level 15.

It would be as if their levels hadn't even changed. Don't you agree that it'd be far to easy for a level 30 courier to kill a still level 5 Radroach?

a example would be the fiends. As you level up they get better weapons
instead of regular deathclaws at level 45 you could add alpha deathclaws
ghouls, just add 30 of them for 1 pack :flamethrower:
level 45-Legendary Boatflies :ahhh:

I saw it. I saw that horrendous beast. It was terrifying. Actually, it was only a bloatfly at the cemetary that glitched and didn't take any damage when I shot it, but it couldda been the Legendary Bloatfly. You don't know for sure. It coullda!

Yuck, bloatflies. I've always hated those things. They're too small to shoot, so I just leave them alone.

But I think bloatflies would be pretty dang dangerous if they were like, the size of Cazadores. Unless of course, the legendary bloatfly is so tiny that nothing can kill it. In that case

level 30 radroaches lol

To op I would hope combat NPCs get harder, or a few new ones are thrown out there. Creatures in HH seemes challenging at level 40, but when I went back to the mw I was 2 or 3 shoting giant rad scorpions with this machine (standard rounds).

White legs also took some hits in HH and delivered good damage, but im not so sure the mw leveled as of yet. Camp Golf with vet rangers would be hard at level 75 I think, but thats the only very hard thing in the game. I would hope something is done so badass combat NPCs level in some way at least.

I too hope for this. I shouldnt be able to do the Thorn Suicide 3 DeathClaws vs 1 me so damn easily in Very Hard. Pop in slasher med x psycho mentats buffout steady whiskey and 2 turbos plus Riot Shot gun with all shot gun perks at lvl 40 = Death Claw suffley.

camp golf is hard? yeah im with everyone on gettin new enemies but making bullet sponges defets the purpose of leveling up IMO i say throw some new caractors out there like the super muntant bohemth lol and the 3 DCs at the thorn is just a couple mags with my .45. but we shall see what awaits us huh? :obliviongate:

Oblivions problem wasn't that everything scaled, it was that the spawns scaled.
Of all the creatures in Oblivion, I believe only Ogres, Minotaur Lords, Brown Bears, Lichs, Storm Atronachs, a specific type of Daedra and one of the end-game ghosts scaled with the player. Everything else had a level cap. For example, maybe wolves would get stronger up until level 7, Mountain Lions until 16, normal Minotaurs until 22. I'm 100% sure on this because I remember Daedroth getting easier and easier whereas Ogres were turning into absolute beasts as I leveled, even though Daedroth appear later than Ogres.

The problem was simply that when you first played the game, a specific spawn point would spawn a wolf, and as you leveled, wolves became an endangered species, whereas ogres were practically an 11th race in Cyrodiil. New Vegas wouldn't have this problem as it's spawn points are set in regards to what creature spawns there.

Having said that, I'm sure we all agree that Deathclaws, Yao Guai, Fire Geckos, Super Mutants, some forms of ghouls, some specific people and Cazadors deserve to scale with the player whereas molerats should stay where they are. The main problem with the increased level cap is that the Courier gets more HP and more perks, though his damage stays relatively the same. Having said that, they should aim to increase the health of those enemies SLIGHTLY. We don't need Fallout 3 bullet sponges. Say if deathclaws had 300 HP at level 30, then give them 450 at level 50, unless they plan on giving us ridiculously powerful new weapons. What should definitely increase though is their damage. The difference between level 30 and level 50 is 100 HP, and the Courier gets more dangerous perks. This means the deathclaw needs to be as dangerous as the Courier himself if the fight is to stay interesting. If the deathclaw only gets a massive boost in HP and a modest boost in damage (this is the mistake Fallout 3 made), then all they've succeeded in doing is making enemies incredibly aggrivating to fight. That's not interesting: that's a long boring fight that you know you'll win from the start. If a deathclaw was hitting for 120 damage at level 30, then raise it up to 180-200 at level 50. May not sound like much, but that'd mean the Courier tanks 3 less hits from a deatchlaw on normal mode and only an incredibly durable Courier can tank 2 hits on very hard.

They should import tougher enemies like the Yao Guai or even the damn Albino Radscorpion. The toughest NPC's do level up with you though. If I had my way some of them would get more perks, the most powerful ammo, and weapons and armor at 100% condition.

It would be fun to have some new enemies in the Mojave. And if they showed up where enemies usually don't, even better. After playing Honest Hearts I traveled on foot from the Lucky 38 to the dam and nothing attacked me. Nothing! So boring. I really love Honest Hearts.

They should bring back Goija to make things more difficult. At level 50, instead of fighting deathclaws, you should instead come across Goija and his three identical buddies standing over dclaw corpses to make things more... 'fun'.

Yeah if you go in there villified when there are 6 vet rangers within 20ft of the door with 45/70 or AMR they slaughter you in like 12 seconds.

Maybe if you take every drug in the game, and spam stims it may be easy, but if you approach it in a realistic sense it is very hard.

There is no quest to go there on a cl playthrough, so you would have no idea 25 vet rangers are in their. No reason to take all drugs, and any spamming of anything is simply cheating in my fo. You can t stop time and eat 3 meals take 27 stims and every drug in the game while you are being killed.

Well you can, but...................

Unfortunately (as with all cases involving games) you can't please everyone.

Some people LIKE being godly and unkillable. Some people prefer to feel like every second is a test of survival.
