the NCR or caesar legion? : Fallout: New Vegas

I see Caesars Legion the same as the Enclave, ruthless with the intent of control for the sole purpose of control. In terms of the bigger picture.

Besides, I dont care what your 'big picture' is. I can't see how tying an entire town of drunks and gamblers is 'good'. Yes it is purging sin and debauchery, but you can always try to talk them out of it.

I really don't understand this concept of NCR = good, CL = bad. Or even NCR = more good, CL = more bad. All we know of Caesar's Legion so far is that most of it's members are former tribals that have been enslaved and indoctrinated into the Legion, and that they crucify captured NCR troops.

Anyone ever heard of Vlad the Impaler? Most people will tell you he was an evil b*stard, but most people in Romania revere him as a hero. Why? Well Vlad had this tactic of taking captured soldiers and impaling them on pikes. Though this wasn't to serve as a form of torture, but rather a warning to get out of Wallachia (Vlad's kingdom, which is present-day south Romania). While his tactics were cruel, it was simply to try to stop himself from having to go to war with the Ottomans which would've been extremely expensive, and cost many Wallachian lives.

Caesar's Legion is kind of similar, although it seems like they don't mind a war. Though the crucifying is to serve as a warning that this could become you if you keep fighting us.

I plan on fighting both sides, but first starting out with the Legion to see how they are.

Point is, the NCR is there to add more land to their control.

Its possible to play solo and not do any quests for ncr, cl or the people of vegas?

Eh, I dont know. Since despite the claims. I think it will be NCR, good, CL, bad. But I dotn care about their politics, whatever factions have the interests of New Vegas's preservation in mind will be the one to have my gun.

Seems like every faction wants New Vegas to further their own power. Seems like its a "whoever you like the most" situation.

first playthough NCR becaus ei wanna be good..ish =) because when i first played fo3 i played an evil guy and well when i played a good guy for my next playthrough i seemed to get more out of the game so yea

Based on what I've heard, I'm probably going to do mostly NCR with some Independent work when their missions get a little messed up in nature. I'm definitely going to do a lot of work for the BoS though.

My main character that I'll be playing in New Vegas will be a heavy supporter of the NCR (Namely because he saw his family die at the hands of the Legionnaires from Caesar's Legion) knowing that the NCR are directly at war with Caesar's Legion he will join them and fight for the cause of rebuilding democracy across the wasteland. (And of course some avenging will be involved as well) :tops:

I know the NCR is good and all.. But is no one catching that they aren't super noble like everyone makes them seem to be? Sure, they want what they think is best, but it's just that. What they want. If you actually look at it, they're probably going to be morally grey in some aspects. They take what they want, with force. Which is probably what CL does. No one thinks of that. Thought i'd mention it.

Personally, like I've said in other threads. I'm going to do my own thing. No faction is going to own me.

This is libelous, Anarchist propaganda made to bash the righteous name of the NCR. But the more I watch Spartacus and see how awesome the roman justice system was - no sarcasm intended - compared to Detroit's revolving door policy, I might do one play through with CL. But NCR will guide me on my path to virtue in the other 11 play throughs, if i put as much time into FO:NV as I did FO3.

I'll most likely go with the Legion.

First of all, they're hardcoe, and you don't f*** with them without getting your ass handed to you.

Second, the NCR sounds like a challenge. According to the Wiki, the NCR's army is the biggest at this moment, and I'd LOVE to crush them and then laugh at their failed attempt at holding Vegas.

I'll probably not play as an evil character though, but the Legion is just so much more attracting than the NCR. + My character has a past with the NCR, and is out for blood.
