Ceasar's Legion. I explained why in a topic similar to this and I'm too lazy to repeat myself. :D

Basically, in short, they're the way forward, and won't let anyone stop them.

I'll start off with NCR, since that faction seems to be "friendly" with the factions in the New Vegas strip and I want to be able to focus on the Casino type quests without getting shot at... =p

How many CL vs NCR threads have we had?

Whatever, my vote goes to The Legion because I want to be an evil bastard on my first run this time.

NCR are not defenders of the people, they were ready to kill off all the squatters IIRC that lived around Vault 15.
And the western brotherhood?
Oh they're a bunch of greedy tech-[censored]s.
And here's the extra fun part, in VB (If this part is going to be followed) NCR and BOS went to war over the Hoover Dam.

So neither are lawfully good and they're not in an alliance.

Connected as in "Just kicked their ass in a war?"
BoS lost a war with NCR

BoS are not the defenders of the people, they are technology collectors who send people who want to join into a radioactive hole. They are not the "defend the wastelanders" BoS from Fallout 3.

I'll be helping NCR every playthrough, unless it's a complete neutral playthrough. (which I'll probably play once)

NCR all the way. Second playthrough Caesar's Legion for something different.

Haha even though in Fallout 3 I never brought myself to blow up Megaton.

I know the NCR is good and all.. But is no one catching that they aren't super noble like everyone makes them seem to be? Sure, they want what they think is best, but it's just that. What they want. If you actually look at it, they're probably going to be morally grey in some aspects. They take what they want, with force. Which is probably what CL does. No one thinks of that. Thought i'd mention it.

Personally, like I've said in other threads. I'm going to do my own thing. No faction is going to own me.

Since we don't know their agendas all people can go on is NCR=More good karma than CL and CL=Evil Motha[censored]ers.

Have you ever thought that maybe he thinks that both factions or all factions are evil in his vision? Hence, no faction owns him part.

*By the way, there is already a thread for this, search next time? Haha, don't worry though, it's long gone.

*Caesar throws in a wastelander to a lion*
"....Man Caesar is such a good person, he just fed that poor starving lion."
Opinions opinions.
But what will the karma system say? (It's still in the game right?)
I mean, you can't escape universal karma.

Essentially. But, like people mentioned. NCR is semi less evil, due to them attempting to help. CL just happens to be evil in practice, as far as we can tell. How do we know they don't want to advance the people in some way?

Either way,my opinions: NCR seem possibly self righteous and well armed, which means they'll bug me, and I'll work against them.
CL seem brutal and they seem to lack motive or subtlety. They'll get dropped too. I'm my own faction.

Good anolysis. I don't think they are all evil. Just not one for authority. I like to be my own boss. They both have their own agendas, and probably don't actually do what the people want. No rulers do, really. Not that I want to get into a political arguement.

I really don't understand this concept of NCR = good, CL = bad. Or even NCR = more good, CL = more bad. All we know of Caesar's Legion so far is that most of it's members are former tribals that have been enslaved and indoctrinated into the Legion, and that they crucify captured NCR troops.

Anyone ever heard of Vlad the Impaler? Most people will tell you he was an evil b*stard, but most people in Romania revere him as a hero. Why? Well Vlad had this tactic of taking captured soldiers and impaling them on pikes. Though this wasn't to serve as a form of torture, but rather a warning to get out of Wallachia (Vlad's kingdom, which is present-day south Romania). While his tactics were cruel, it was simply to try to stop himself from having to go to war with the Ottomans which would've been extremely expensive, and cost many Wallachian lives.

Caesar's Legion is kind of similar, although it seems like they don't mind a war. Though the crucifying is to serve as a warning that this could become you if you keep fighting us.

I plan on fighting both sides, but first starting out with the Legion to see how they are.

Why not?

I just don't want to fight the people from my home. In Morrowind and Oblivion I don't attack NPCs of the same race as my character unless they attack first.

On another note, one of my RPs for New Vegas will be someone who shows no mercy to the Caesar's Legion because he/she (I haven't decided gender of character yet) was told his/her father was captured and crucified by the Legion. Later he/she finds out that his/her father stepped on a landmine planted by the Legion.

Can the main quest be finished without joining any faction and not doing any faction quests? How do these factions compare to the guilds in the elder scrolls iv? You could do the main quest and also salivate over the guilds because there was so much meat to that game.
