Am I the only one feeling sympathetic to the Legion?

Uhm, yes. You have the option to leave the country or not join the military or simply vote for someone else. Slavers are not so openminded...

if you listened to the peope of the wastes the ncr are slavers too. They just call it labor camps.

I'm having a hard time siding with any of them, least of all the legion, Ceaser spouts morality while lacking morality himself, tying people to poles and leaving them to die a slow miserable death is just the actions of a sick minded person, as for the other factions, I'll just simply say they all bloody irritate me.

Yeah, each has an issue, kings have good morals, but no power, ncr has a bit of both, legion has more power than morals, and house, well he just seems like he wants personal gain.

I'd not considered the kings, while it was ok working for them I just saw them as a bit of a joke, I only hung around long enough to get Rex.

The King has good moral standing. Not all the Kings are cut from the same cloth. Pencer, for instance and he's second in command.

True, but I get the feeling it wont end wellfor them if I go ncr there are already fights. Also its hard to go ncr, they kinda hate me after I killed all of them at helios when I wanted my laser...

Hmmm wonder what mr house would be like as ruler...

Can you side with the legion as a female character? I know they have some male-dominant attitudes, just curious.

Probabally, they wont change the plot much just because of gender.

Actually, by the time I left the King's employ, he and the NCR were going to work out distributing food across Freeside.

Vote for who? The congress chooses the president, and one newly elected congressman isn't going to change anything. Leave the country to go where? Utah? The Capitol? The Pitt? Most people in the NCR were weaponless townies, aking them leave town because they don't like their government is a death sentence to them.

Feel sorry for them?

Look, I know they think their intentions are good, but the way they go about them is completely insane. Caesar himself is less than what I imagined, too. I, like you, thought he would have some spiel about order and being told by the Gods or some such nonsense, expecting him to be nothing more than the alpha male in a pack of wolves. He's quite an eloquent speaker, but he's still a ruthless, heartless morally corrupt idiot. In all seriousness, the way he talks and what he talks about and seeing how he goes about accomplishing his goals, he reminds me of Adolf Hitler. Hell, change the Legion to The Reich; make them wear SS uniforms instead of roman armor; and give them all MP40s and M60s and you could have them be some form of post-apocalyptic neo nazis that instead of modeling their life after Julius Caesar, they model it after Mein Kompf.

The only reason I haven't simply murdered them all yet is because they are damn strong! They can take plasma bursts to the face and just laugh. D:

It's really more like Rome than Nazi Germany. I know people like to 1) romanticize Rome and 2) use the Nazis to make comparisons with anything bad, but the Legion's goals, methods, and expansions are much more like Julius Caesar than Adolf Hitler.

Democracy The NCR is the worst form of government; except all the others that have been tried.

A little too spoiler heavy for me to read all the replies, but to the original op...Yeah..if you're thinking a group of slavers that have a predilection for crucifying people, driving the last remaining survivor insane by way of a macabre lottery, and splitting up all the tribes that submit to them in order to maintain total control is better than a bunch of hardasses showing up saying "Sorry about your house, but there's a battle a-comin," you may have to re-evaluate some of your ideas of freedom. The NCR is your standard, bloated government, and they do have an overbearing method, but if you're playing this game, like many of us, as an extension of your own belief system, the answer, to me, seems obvious. Do what I'm going to do. None of those groups will run anything the way I want, and Mr. House is the big man on the block because of his securitron strike force, so the obvious solution is to kill house, take over Lucky 38, and use any alliances you've made along the way to set up things the way you want them set up.

This being fallout, I'm sure my plans won't quite work out the way I want them too, but since I'm still wandering the wastes with no idea of the future, it's the endgame I've got planned for New Vegas. After all, I've got (I assume) air support from the Boomer's Bomber, and most everyone at least likes me. I kiss a few more butts, get idolized by a few people, they should fall in line. If not...there's always the securitrons. And hey, I've killed half of the wasteland on my own so far. And who knows...maybe Caesar and the NCR will take each other out.

I am not far into the campaign, but I'd like to ally with the BoS, set up an independent Enclave (like the DC BoS) and rule Vegas on my own. Is this possible?

Typical NCR response. They're going to reevaluate my opinions and judge them for me, aren't they?

Well, I might have to pass the CL. Maybe this Mr. House could be a better leader....

At least Caesar is a bit more eloquent. It's not all "Join! DIE! Join! DIE!" with him (well it is but at least he says it nicely!).

Well, since the NCR are just drafting their soldiers, it does sort of kill a lot of their sympathy, especially since Kimball is only continuing the war because he can't simply give up on a war HE started. What would the voters back home think?

You know, I thought I would hate Caesar when he made me wipe out the BoS, but by my second playthrough, I'd discovered the BoS were actually even more unsympathetic than Caesar...

I get the impression the NCR is there for Hoover Dam/Helios One, more then continuing the fight against the Legion. NCR needs the power Hoover can provide if they're going to keep expanding.

to thine ownself, be true

fyi i am female and more than likely
in the oldest group on this board
