The Legion unites tribes with promises they never intend to keep, then proceeds to chop away every bit of culture those tribes once had when they were independent. It's rather disgusting when you think about it. Caesar may have a knack for turning uncivilized tribes into civilized Legion but the way he goes about it prevents me from ever agreeing with his cause.

Not to mention that they way his territory is governed is inherently flawed. In Kimball dies, the democracy of the NCR will churn out a new President in his place, and things will be relatively the same. If Caesar dies, things will change drastically. You can actually kill him in New Vegas, and his replacement is much, much more ruthless than Caesar was. Caesar turns out to be the best option the Legion has, in comparison to what his replacement was like.

Something keeps bugging me about Caesar. He has pretty much banned any advanced technology from his society, so what the hell is he going to do with Hoover Dam? I haven't seen a single scientist in his employ...

Well, i joined up with Caesar and blew up that underground bunker. Im on my way to kill Mr. House. To me, it seems like NCR is where all the "cool kids" go to and since im not a "cool kid" in real life, siding with Caesar is natural for me. I didnt even bother to talk to mister house, i just went down there and blew [censored] up :foodndrink:

Personally, I hated all of the factions. I fired up the death ray, murdered House, powered up some Securitrons, blew Hoover Dam to shreds, and killed all in my path. I liked where General Oliver came in after I whiped out the remaining bits of the Legion and told me what a great job I did. Just for being a pansy I had my Securitrons kill him too.

My ending was that no faction took power, everyone fell at some point, and the entire place was engulfed with total anarchy. New tribes rose and fell, killing those that opposed them, and nothing changed. Society went back to the law of the Wasteland: kill or be killed.

The NCR is a realistic government trying to expanded, they aren't the shining knights of king arthur, they have there good people and there bad people.

Thus far everyone in the legion I've met was a slaving, butchering SOB, its a choice between evil and neutral. Ceaser is a tyrant determined to bring his order and security to the wasteland at any cost. He conquers tribals and turns them into murderous butchers if they weren't that way already.

Let me ask you this, if you lived in goodsprings and the Legion was coming how much sympathy would you have for them?

You may not agree with the Legion's methods, but they're without a doubt ruthlessly effective, and that maybe just what the Wasteland needs. Obviously it's easy for us to judge from our comfy, civilized point of view, but I'd still say the Legion's rule would be much preferrable over total anarchy. For example Raul does mention that Arizona was much worse before Legion established order into the area.

If anything, the biggest flaw with the Legion seems to be that it centers too much around Caesar. He won't live forever and who'll take charge after that? None of the legos I've met seem fitting - and tho I haven't yet met Lanius, from what I've heard he probably wouldn't be much good either.

Heck, I am no hero in New Vegas. I am not the Vault dweller nor the Lone Wanderer. All I am is just a Courier of the Mojavi Express, so I stick with my own profession - I have helped the Legion occasionally when I was short on caps / needed something.

Otherwise, they all fell under the might of my anti-materiel rifle.

Offtopic: Just love how ED-E increased the radar range and Veronica tanks with her power armor and punches with her power fist; amazing combination for a sharpshooter like me.

For me on this play the only good CL is a dead CL. I shoot them all on sight, including that little dog Inculta in Nipton. I exploded all over those murdering bastards like a dervish of vengance. If it were possible to have hung him on one of his own little crosses in Nipton as a precursor to the fate of all CL scum i find i would have. I do not like the NCR but at least while it might be a bit corrupt i can at least handle a bit of corruption. The CL wants to return to the barbarity that humanity spent thousands of years clawing to escape, each time the people fight over resources, ideaology the entire species drifts further and further back from the technology that once made all the modern conviences like food, power, clean water, humanity the norm as opposed to the exception. I may play a different alingment, but the CL's brand of barbarity will be hard to support even if i am bashing in the heads of little old ladies for thier foodstuffs.

personally the only thought I had after seeing what they did to that town was kill, and dismember them. Burning people alive, and crucifying them is just messed up. How can you preach morals yet kill people so barbarically. Not to mention enslaving people I'd say they are all hypocrites. Of coarse that is with my goodie goodie character which is me basically. When I go with an evil one. I'll probably just look around for some good loot, and heckle the "Sinful Cretins" lol

You may want to check out BoS. No corruption, just peace through superior firepower and military might. Some may consider them as bad (if not worse) as CL, but at least they see [censored] for what it is and don't care to make trophies out of their kills. And they embrace technology, as long as they're the only ones who reign over it (much like the NCR would like).



They basically follow the rule of the Roman Empire. Vivere est vincere.

That said, the NCR is bound to repeat the same mistakes that led to the the near destruction of the humanity.

I'm an extreme Libertarian in real life (Anarcho-Socialist) so I can't see myself supporting the Legion who basically wants to set up a Military Dictatorship. I prefer the Followers of the Apocalypse. It's annoying that they aren't one of the main factions.

Well, it's not as if such altruistic factions are ever "main factions" in the real world either.

I will be joining the CL on my first playthrough. Vulpes Inculta is too badass. The NCR are the 'good' faction and I'd probably join them on one of my playthroughs, but, for some reason, I sympathise for CL.

Name an empire that is ruled by a quasi-dictator, who gets his office through hereditary lines, is corrupt, decadent and has an overly bureaucratic system. Did you say NCR (you just listened to Caesar, havent you?)? You might be right, but the other correct answer is ancient Rome. Yeah Smartypants McThinkshessmart did not really think that over, some might even call him a hypokrit. Talking about Vegas as "New Rome" does not help either. And he really thinks that murdering people just for gambling and living in decadency (and as we know murdering means here crucifiction and bruning alive) is in any way a morally higher ground than bureaucracy and corruption? Well it is not.

BTW this was not a rant about the game, i love it CL included, but i can't friggin wait to kill Caesar. With 23 knifestabs. Make it 22, he does not have the right to die the same way as a truly great Caesar.

PS: Praetorians are idiots. Unarmed combat does not work that well against an assault carbine.

I'm not that far into the game: I'm new at New Vegas, and for me the whole enchilada is just starting to unfold.

Mr House looks damn fishy, so he's out of the question. Plus, I have some issues with The Man so I'll do his dirty work as long as it benefits me and then off him. BUT: I'll first make sure the power void will be filled with someone who can actually MANAGE things right.
The NCR look like just what they are: government. They may look nice, and some measure of local control in some areas would do good, but ultimately....no, thanks. Primm was a shining example: I put an ex convinct as a sheriff and I made the right choice.
Caesar's Legion? On the pretense of bringing order they impose their morality and their ways of life. Sure, when wolfy-head told me about their little revenge, I snickered, but ultimately the only bridge between me and them will be a flying bullet at their head.
As for the others... meh.
I think that in the end, I'll do what I always to: support the common people. Maybe those Followers of the Apocalypse.... *wonders while polishing rifle* Let's go, Bally. We got work to do.

The Legion lost all my sympathy when I found Nipton.

I will probably have at least one character support CL, however I usually do the work the Van Graffs in Freeside offer and the last job sets me irrevocably against the Legion. I guess that character will have to forgo Energy weapons, since I cannot stand being interrupted by that security guard every time I try to enter the shop.

So far I have been ostensibly backing the NCR, while at the same time quietly pushing the Followers' cause as sort of a counterbalance. I haven't done anything on the Strip yet but have been 'cleaning up' Freeside in order to cultivate potential allies for when I do make a push.

I like the Followers a lot and agree with their goals and methodology, but I agree with the Ghoul Guard of theirs: They're horribly naive. They freely share ideas and technology with everyone, and that makes them easy to take advantage of.

At the same time, they do employ armed guards. So they aren't totally clueless.

Yet when your carbine jams or runs out of ammo, a Praetorian will be there to smash your head in :hubbahubba:

The Legion is ruthless yes, but highly effective. I say extreme situations call for extreme solutions..
