Am I the only one who's not experienced major bugs?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 7:47 am

For me, Skyrim has, thusfar, been the least buggy game from BGS. I've not had one CTD, have not experienced any game- or quest-breaking bugs, or any other major glitches.

The only annoyances I have encountered are the usual TES fair (getting stuck in scenery) and the hot-key issue, which is really more of a design flaw than a bug.

Could I be the only one?

I've experienced three CTDs, so far. That's about it.

I've had a couple of really small quest that are permanatly locked out because of glicthes. The theives guild also used to be locked out on my second character, but patch 1.4 fixed that up

The only real major one I had was the backwards flying dragons, other then that just the usual minor ones that tend to be in every TES like you said.Oh, and I'm on the 360.

CTD = Crash To Desktop (PC, obviously)

They were a constant headache in Oblivion and FO3

I've had no issue with FO3 but had a few with Skyrim. And these bugs are quest related, which does make it a bit more annoying. If it was just CTD then I'd just upgrade my computer or components of it.

Only issue I had was the Windhelm house never getting cleaned up. No other bugs to speak of, however the 1.4 patch did speed up my game noticeably.

Oh. I downloaded a few major enhance graphics mods that gave me CTDs, but after I uninstalled them it worked fine, I can't blame bethesda for the mod crashing my computer

This is true. My previous issues could be with heavily modded games. However, even before mods, I remember getting crashes in those games.

I played on the Xbox for a good 200 hrs + before I started encountering specific quest breaking bugs. I had a number of items stuck in inventory that I could never get rid of, and the occasional dragon that kept dropping dead into Whiterun until it finally stopped happening. I like maxing out my characters and playing through to completion and compared to Morrowind, which would constantly lock up on me, and Oblivion, which would throw a ridiculous number of leveled up random creatures at me when I tried to travel between locations, I am extremely pleased with Skyrim. I'm at around 285 hrs with a single character and I can count about 3 broken quests and a half-dozen stuck items in inventory. I've completed 300+ quests and I think that's a small price to pay for an amazing game experience.

PC player here. 2-3 CTDs that I can remember. It is pretty stable even after long hours. Just how I like it. A few bugs in the game, but none that could not be fixed with the text console. Nothing major. :thanks:

iv only had one major bug (not things like the giant space program or the mamoths reentering orbit after signing up for the space program)and it was fixed by reloading

btw, iv not even experianced a mamoth falling out of the sky (presumably from the space program), only the giants forcing me to sign up for a 1 way trip to the moon, sad that sheogorath has forsaken me to a sane adventure :cold:

i play on xboxthebestbox and only had a few bugs

i was saved the game (cause i save every 30 mins or so ) and i was trying to walk from 1 side of the map to the other.
-walking down the road it froze, i saved a few seconds ago so i reloaded.. froze same spot again... a little mad i fast traveled to a city and back to where i was freezing, no issues...
-i had some texture bugs. mainly with dragons, a texturless dragon is UGLY! but it fixed itself in a few seconds, no harm.
other then those bugs though, everything was fine... i love the game

also is the giant space flying thing really a bug? i don't see why it is one..it just shows they have great strength.

Only three actually broken quests in my journal, but I've had to do many work-arounds or reload previous saves from days of play before to be able to restart quests and then do in a really specific way in order not to break them. Lag and stutter was just getting bad for me so I stopped playing 3 weeks waiting fo 1.4 patch. Now I have disappearing gold glitch that has potential to ruin my current playthrough and stop the game for good. I'm on PS3.

I have never experienced any quest bugs..people on this forum tend to over-exaggerate problems bc its trendy to say skyrim is a pile of bugs, which is just false.

And you'd be a svcker for it, because CTD's in this game are not hardware related. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I haven't experienced any major bugs myself, playing on the 360, around 90 hrs in, and beat the main quest. The only problem I have is the textures are messed up. And actually today I killed a dragon that I got from a bounty and I didnt get a soul, it just laid there, it didnt even turn to bones, looked pretty neat seeing a dead dragon laying there with its flesh still on it, lol. So far all my quests I did were fine.

Nice.

Anyhow, all bugs seem to be pretty well documented on the wikis including work-arounds. No secrets there.

and on the other side (2 sided things work like this in skyrim, read some letters, so that would be a minor bug? just stayin on topic here) we have people like this guy who gets mad at nothing and for no discernible reason :whistling:

I'm sure you're not the only one (even though I have been having major bugs). Of course it depends on when you got the game. If it was after the patches, well then that seems normal enough. If it was before, then either you don't play THAT much or you're just lucky.

Not absorbing souls from respawned dragons is not a bug, just so you know.

Only bug that i have consistantly gotten and annoys me is not being able to report to Rikke in the Winterhold camp. Trying to do workarounds from the wiki, but no luck yet. I feel like this is a common and major bug considering it is in one of the major questlines and is caused by the main one. Should be fixed, lol.

I had a glowing eye issue with my first character, and a few CTDs over hundreds of hours of play. All in all, I'm amazed how stable the game is and how well it runs on my dated machine, given my experience with previous titles.

I've only experienced one quest bug, as well. And that was the result of being sent to a place I had previously cleared out (but had respawned by the time I got the quest due to a three day respawning mod I was using). I suspect that playstyle has something to do with the number of broken quests a player might experience.

For example, I don't tend to explore places until I've got business there, so usually I haven't visited quest objective locations before. Some people explore every cave and ruin they come across, so the likelyhood of later being given a quest that sends them back to an explored location is much greater, especially if they are using mods that shorten the respawn time. I probably don't have a lot of broken quests because I approach them pretty much how the designers assumed I would where as other players who play more unpredictably manage to break more quests.

I`ve had a couple of CTDs. I`ve also seen a couple of strange things like vanishing and reappearing Hunters.

But I`ll admit overall, Skyrim is the most stable of all the games since Oblivion, even with Mods.
