The point of wax key?

I like to rp a certain way since you aren't restricted like you were for previous games(I preferred the way it was in the other games). So I am playing a thief/mage hybrid and I do a lot of thieving and it saves time. It is also good if you are trying to escape from jail since you get the jail key and can use it to retrieve items without worrying about losing your only pick or getting caught pping a key. The unbreakable pick would also be good for escaping.

It probably isn't that useful if you don't play a certain role though.

Wax Key is only for those who don't want to constantly have to break into the same place using picks.

I disagree about the Lockpicking tree being useless. Picking locks without the guards notcing is nice and then you have Treasure Hunter and uh the other one for more gold in chests-love em.

As for the Speech Tree I find it usefull too, granted I do not get the stuff on the right side, but I do put points on the left side. Having to sell any item to a merchant is highly useful. Then when you invest in a merchant the Riverwood trader is the only person you need to sell too-which is very nice and simple.

You may complain now you have too much gold, more then you know what to do, but maybe the DLC will give you something to do with that gold.

and wouldnt wax not be strong enough material to use in a key? I guess its just a game but still
Wax key means an imprint of the key is made in wax, from which you can then make real keys from metal. That's my interpretation anyway.

It is called Lost Wax Casting. Basically you use Sand or other similar material to form a mold around the wax pattern. Then you pour in molten metal which melts the wax and fills in the space left with the metal.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost-wax_casting

To make more than one of these, you have to make a pattern (usually from wood or other material that cam be carved), then a mold from that pattern (usually with Plaster of Paris), then you can cast as many wax patterns as you want from that mold to use in the Lost Wax method.

It's a wax impression- supposed to be used for a lost wax casting of the key. I do bronze foundry.

Whoops, missed Mod's post! Late to the party...

Actually, for casting a key you can use a "flask" made out of a sawed-off piece of schedule 8 plumbing pipe and a rubber cap, suspend the wax key inside from a wax base attached to the inside of the rubber cap, then pour in plaster around it to make the mold. Jewelers do it this way. The sand was an ancient method, but even larger scale sculptures use what's called an "investiture mold".

Look up "foundry pour" on youtube- awesome stuff. I'm usually one of the guys moving around the crucible with the giant tongs and the front- side chaps getup...
Aaah! Must get to the studio!!!!!

I have to agree, I have roughly 1.5M in gems retail value sitting in my safe in Proudspire Manor as its just to much of a pain to sell them with all but one of my guild fences bugged right now. It would take me days of playing to sell them so now I only pick up stuff that I will use to decorate my house's with.

For some reason, this gave me an idea to collect a few bowls, or maybe a basket....and drop all of my gems into the bowl/basket for decor

If it wouldnt freeze my game I would drop everyone of the gems I have onto the floor in the empty room in Proudspire just to see what it looks like, but I have a feeling the game would choke and freeze up.

Shouldnt cause any problems, how many gems do you have? Unless its thousands, you should be ok. of course, if you want to drop them all individually, it'll take a helluva long time.
