You guys do realise Bethesda had the option to do the Game of Thrones game, but turned it down as the Elder Scrolls is what they wanted to do?

I had already started watching GOT before playing Skyrim. I named my white haired female dragon-born...well, Daenerys of course!

Why not just play the actual GoT game? Probably against the rules to link to other games, so just google it.

Because I've heard it's not that good.

I was shocked by Ned Stark's fate. For the longevity of the series, it makes sense though.

I was not all that shocked. Ned is all heart and no brain. It was only a matter of time before he would do something dreadfully stupid but with the best of intentions. My favorite scene was at the end of season one. You could predict those eggs would hatch all season, but the way they hatched was outstanding. It's a great show, but I don't like fantasy games based on fantasy books. I'd rather create my own characters in a unique world that was designed for adventureers. There have been plenty of LOTR games and none of them are all that good compared to TES. Games based on books tend to be linear. Even if you tried to make it non-linear, the lore from a book series probably does not support independent adventuring all that well.

Heh well no :) Maybe sometimes but game of thrones isnt really like skyrim... Its more mature and that typical HBO stuff..
Well thats HBO for you
Difference is that beth made this game to include a younger public than your average HBO viewer, you don t want any arch conservative group to negative influence your sales or profits
If beth really wanted too they could have make a dark and gritty world , they would please the hardcoe fans , but will turn skyrim into a niche game

Well you got Dragons, a large area of constested lands, you got a prophecised person, magic (sure its only reemerging in GoT but its there) and snow....lots and lots of snow. So much snow infact they end up naming their illegitimate sons Snow :D

And you have a leader in the north trying to seccede from the larger Empire/Kingdom.

Something like that. I've been looking for information on it for a while as well, I'm not really hearing anything that will make it worth playing apart from the fact that it's GoT...

They are just following the book. Its hard to say who is the main character. I just see it as the Starks are good and the Lannisters are mostly bad.

Bethesda openly cited GoT as a stylistic influence actually. Not a bad thing at all

At least they're honest. The familiarity between them is just too obvious.

Methinks if they hadn't been so buried in making skyrim, they would have made the GoT game. If we're REALLY lucky, they'll draft Martin in to help with storyline duties on a future TES. It seems as though there's at least a degree of mutual respect there so fingers crossed!

After every episode I want to make a fur or hide armored warrior and tromp around in the snowy areas, chopping things in half with a two-handed sword. :)

It might just be that I'm a huge fan of both, and they're both fantasy based, and have dragons, Civil War, etc. I know there's plenty differences, but I'd rather play Skyrim as a GoT experience than either of the Game of Thrones games around.

Is that because the GoT RPG is likely to be a poor attempt to monetise the series?

I've been reading GoT and I'm about 1/3 through the first book. I haven't seen the series but have looked it up on line to connect faces to names.

I noticed right away that they seemed to occur in the same 'era', what with the armor and the weapons, but also with the direwolves and the dragons. And to some degree the absence of bathrooms....
