EDIT: Here's a bug fix as well as the correct thread to refer to. It's in the final post.

It's already been made clear (and infamous) that patch 1.5 crashes the PS3 as soon as the PC submerges into a body of water. When will this be addressed?

Yep every single time!!! Very frustrating!!!!

I would like a response from Beth staff. Are you at least going to tell us that you're working on it, or make a sticky post? There's no way you aren't aware of this gamebreaking bug that's being talked about all over the forums.

Pc had 2 1.5 patches (1.5.24 & 1.5.26) I wonder if the 2nd patch is already in the approval phase for you guys and perhaps it may fix whatever water issues you're having. I know the water effects were added with 1.5.24, so perhaps there is a 2nd patch coming that will sort it? 360 dudes not having this problem? Ouch. :(

No, I have not seen anyone complain about any 360 crashes yet, and certainly not this specific crash. Also, as far as I know, consoles do get incremental patches/fixes, but it doesn't tell us when we get them. And for that matter, 1.5 was finalized on PC before it came to consoles, and since this problem isn't happening with 360 (as far as I can tell), then I would imagine that it's a hardware issue that Beth was unprepared for or did not expect.

Strange, I'm on PS3, and my game didn't crash when I went into water. Does it depend on how deep the water is? The only thing I saw just now is the color under the water kept jumping from a murky brown to a murky green.

Lies. Only "skyrim update" needs deleted. Deleting "skyrim" as well will just waste your time reinstalling data that didn't cause the issue.

Tried this the only data under game data utility is two updates from 11/11/2011 nothing else for skyrim. Any-other ideas.

you need to delete both and reinstall the game with 1.5 included they must say that both SKYRIM and the skyrim updates were installed on4/6/2012

11/11 was when the file was made. Delete the one called "skyrim update" and reinstall the patch and you'll be just fine.

This thread should be in the PS3 section.

Gstaff has responded in the PS3 section.

There is a sticky about it on how to install the patch correctly. This is located in the sticky called 'Game Updates'.

Delete your game data in the 'game data utility' folder on the XMB menu. Then start up Skyrim and let the patch download and let the game data be installed. That should solve the trick.

This is all from the sticky by Gstaff.

Well, I did both. It's 65% done installing the game, and the patch came beforehand. I'd imagine it's best to do it this way, though I could be wrong. Either way, I'll be back to tell you folks how it went.

Thanks everyone. I should have used the PS3 subforums in the first place, sorry.

I'm going to edit my OP so that anyone who clicks this thread can refer to the correct one. Can a mod please close this? Thanks :vaultboy:

So, just to be clear, this only happens as soon as one makes contact with water, correct? Or does it happen after being in water for a few minutes? Because if it's the former, I don't think I have this issue. Should I reinstall the patch, just to be sure?
