1. I found a group of four skeletons sitting around a poker table, under ten feet of water. That little scene made me chuckle.
2. The inside of No-Bark's shack, and his little diorama.
3. The music from "Flight of the Valkries" playing at the conclusion of "Come fly with me."
4. "Santiago is fabulous."
5. I observed a Viper with a pool cue, successfully kill a giant fire ant in a frantic 1-2 minute battle. She was set ablaze at least twice during the fight. Then, she ran towards me while I was crouching nearby, laser RCW at the ready. The situation did not end well for the viper.
6. I watched a small group of Legionaries, four if I recall correctly, attempt to ambush a caravan. The caravan crew unleashed a hail of 10mm submachine gun fire, laser beams, and pistol shots that mowed them all down within about 10 seconds. One of the Legionaries attempted to flee the scene, only to be shot in the back repeatedly until he collapsed in a bloody heap. I reloaded to watch the fight again, and on the second try the Legionaries won the battle.
7. I was wandering around where I shouldn't be, when a rad scorpion saw me and gave chase. Since I was on neutral terms with the powder gangers, I led the scorpion right into thier ranks. One brave fellow immediately engaged the thing, opening his attack with a thrown dynamite stick. To my surprize, his blast actually did some damage. He followed by attacking in melee with a lead pipe. He beat the thing down to three bars of health before it killed him. Before the scorpion could turn around, I attacked it from behind with a baseball bat, killing it. The I looted the dynamite sticks from the dead ganger.
8. I was up around the north part of the map, intending on fetching some mantis eggs for a quest. I was only level 6 at the time, having snuck up to Vegas past the deathclaws in quarry junction. I annoyed some Cazadors, and ran back toward the city, not trusting my plasma pistol to win the fight. Those things are SO DAMN FAST. I lept over terrain and dodged around boulders, trying to confuse their pathfinding A.I.. I led them right into a militia outpost, and then turned around to see what would happen. Big mistake. The militia got maybe 1-2 shots off before the Cazadors killed them all. Then, they were back on my trail again. I ran around all of the obstacles, trying to get to the city gate before they reached me. I got smacked from behind for half my hit points, stumbled to within 10 feet of the door, and got hit again. I died within a couple feet of the door.
Small details and encounters make this game very memorable.
