I love science. Whenever you get caught doing something very unorthodox (and in absolutely no way illegal), you can get away with it just by saying it was for this! Science makes everything all right!

"Xetirox, why did you run across campus with a deer skull still attached to the spinal column and leaking gray matter?"

"I did...FOR SCIENCE!"

Why do males have nipbles?

When initially conceived, all mammalian fetuses are the same and develop the same features, regardless of what the six ultimately will be. sixual differentiation does not begin until male hormones, like testosterone, are produced, which begins to change the fetus and give it the proper sixually-dimorphic organs. In terms of nipbles, they remain on the males, but are otherwise undeveloped.

Mind you hormonal imbalances can occur before or after birth, that can cause them to lactate...but that's extremely rare, and a story for another day. And forum.

"What if"

My two most hated words when somebody tries to explain up with some crazy philosophy like solipsism or The Matrix or connected consciousness. Yeah, what if?

The Y chromosome hasn't kicked in yet. In basic talk, we all start off female, then, depending if a person has a Y or X as the second six chromosome, we become our gender.

Now, is there any chem questions? I'd be happy to answer them!

What causes El Nino?

More elaborately than stated before, the wind above the earth, especially one called the intercontinental jetstream(i think that is what it is called) Flows lower than usual. the cause of a jetstream is when cold ari from the north hits warmer air from the south. that air is carried in the jetstream or is reflected by the pressure wave around the jetstream. This causes magnified temperatures in the summer when in the south and an extra harsh winter in the north. the oceans also become warmer throughout everywhere in the south and colder in the north, which is thought to be a reason of this phenomenon from what I understand in it. (I'm no meteorologist...

It's not quite as simple as starting of female, rather we start off as completely neutral, but the female genes express themselves first. All animals start off as just cells, it's the order than genes express themselves that determine their final morphology.

On that subject: when you look at the x and y chrmosome, you realize, the x chromosome is 3 times the size of the y... in other words, men, we are freakin' simple!

Why do males have nipbles?

Isn't it something to do with that we are all females in the womb, and we begin to form male stuff after the nipbles have already been made... I don't know...

I'm currently reading a book about string theory called The Elegant Universe, and I have a question.

The book explains how nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. How, if you were to stand perfectly still, you would be traveling 0 mp/h through space, but 670,000,000 mph(approximately light speed) through time. So when you travel through space, you borrow speed through time, therefore, if you travel light speed through space, you would be traveling 0 mph through time, which means time would have stopped and you would not be moving at all, which then creates a paradox and [censored] gets [censored] up.

I'm just wondering how you can go x miles per hour through time, when miles per hour is a measure of how far you go through space in x units of time. How can you go, say, 100 miles through time?

If someone could explain this to me I would very much appreciate it.

Oh how I wish I had time to answer this. But I think "Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey" is the best I can come with at this time.

There have been studies going on about time being directly related to speed. the faster you go, the slower time travels in relevance to you. 2 atomic clocks were synchronized to the millionth of a second and one was put on a plane. the clock that was on the plane was found to be ever so slightly slower than the other clock. this proves that the theory is true with time being directly related to speed somehow. If you are going x miles per hour through space, you are going c minus x through time. c being the speed of light. However, there s newton's theory of E=MC2, which goes against the other tiome theory but is proven to work. So far, we have no clear evidence about it yet, but either way, you could study for years on this and still find more. some believe it as negatives go against our laws of physics, even though our laws of phusics ARE wrong. In physics, you can prove that a bird should not be able to fly, but it happens IRL. solving this at this point in time is like fixing a computer with a broken screwdriver. It just cannot be done.

Nobody knows what dark matter is made of. it is not entirely true it even exists. Dark matter is supposedly Negative matter. It has negative weight, destroys any other matter it touches, and disobeys every known law of physics. It is purely theoretical as of this moment.

Why do males have nipbles?

Humans are mammals, mammals have mammary glands, regardless of gender. And yes, we all start out developing in the womb as females.
There are certain endocrinological situations in which galactorrheah develops due to hormonal imbalances. Males and females may produce milk at birth, or later in life if there are imbalances with the thryoid and pitutary. The thyroid and pituitary regulate the production of six hormones via feedback loops to the ovaries and [censored] as well.

As for fecal matter, we need the bacteria in our intestines, we evolved to be the dominant life form because the bacteria that colonized our ancestors's lower digestive tracts enabled us to break down and utilize more than once source of foodstuffs. Omnivores really do rule.

Oh yes, cookies. The amount of fat and sugar, plus the type of flour used to make cookies contributes vastly to whether the cookie is soft on the inside, chewy, and crisp on the outside. Flours with a high protein content, such as bread flour, are poor for making cookies, one needs a lower protein soft winter wheat, a proportionally larger amount of sugar, and more than one fat source in order to achieve the soft chewy yet crisp trifecta of chocolate chip cookie perfection.

Though, herbivores have a much more elongated appendix, likely for the larger need of bacteria to break down cellulose and to give the bacteria a good place to stay.

For us humans, it probably had use very far back, but it's not all that useful today.

Panda bears are a prime example of how a previously omnivorous creature limited it's dominance by choosing to specialize in the consumption of only one type of foodstuffs. Generation upon generation of intestinal flora developed to cater to that one purpose.

People tend to label bacteria and viruses as bad or good, when really, they are only bad or good in terms of how they relate to us.

yeppers.

And with panda bears, it's not only that they chose the consumption of only 1 foodstuff, but it had to be one of the least nutritious plants on the planet! And as many conservationists have said, if it wasn't for them being so damn cute, they would have died out a long time ago.

I thought that was antimatter.

I heard that scientists decided that dark matter was no longer matter but dark energy.

The thing about dark matter (or energy  ) is that it emits a constant outward force, it basically does the opposite of gravity, it pushes things away. Some physicists believe that this is causing the Universe to inflate at an increasing rate, some even say that the the Universe will eventually rip itself apart due to the increasing amount of dark matter/energy.

Some also say that the Universe will expand until it gets so large that it will go dark due to such vast distances between any stars or galaxies.

EDIT: By the way, evilsquirrel, E=MC^2 was developed by Einstein. Newton thought up gravity.
