Deep Space NIne: A permanent dock, but capable of movement. Instead of going to all corners of the universe, the universe comes to it, by ship through normal space or by ship through wormholes, or by aliens living in wormholes. There is a natural continuity of linked events.
Cm James Sisko: He's flawed, he's deliberate, he's tragic, he's warm. Not aloof like Picard, nor as diplomatic. Not gung ho like Kirk, more thoughtful of consequences.
Odo (My chihuaha-minipin- rat-terrier mix is named after him) The interplay between Odo and Quark is reminisecent of the interplay between Spock and McCoy, only with different variables. Odo's difference from Spock is that while Spock chooses to ignore his humanity, Odo, who's natural state is formless, chooses to explore the why's of humanoid life. The difference between Mc Coy and Quark is that McCoy' is the epitome of integrity and honor, and he defends humanity. Quark wallows in his depravity and greed, but both are curmudgeons, and you grow fond of the characters.

Other
Star Trek is like any other series, it's popularity will wax and wane. The direction it goes is out of my hands, that is up to the producers. I liked the prequel to Enterprise, I think exploring that area of time may eventually beome as charted as the rest of the Treks. After a while it may get old. Then I suppose a distant future would be the next frontier.

I really like DS9 because of the reasons previously stated by mama and others. Plus, it really gave Worf a place to shine. Klingons are my favorite race from Star Trek, so every episode pertaining to them were my favorites across all the series.

TNG and DS9 are my favourites, I also like Voyager despite it's stupidity, and feel that Enterprise could have got better if it had continued.

My favourite characters are Q, Data and Mr House Odo.

Has anyone here ever watched http://www.youtube.com/user/sfdebris?blend=1&ob=5?

They're very well thought out, not to mention being hilarious. Like his suggestion that Q introduced the Borg to the Federation as response to Picard's speech about how evolved humans were, just so that it would turn him into a violent maniac in First Contact.

Anything Garak says is a gem as well:

Bashir: I'm sorry you feel that way. I thought you enjoyed my company.
Garak: Oh, I did! And that's the worst part. I can't believe that I actually enjoyed eating mediocre food and staring into your smug sanctimonious face.

Bashir: What I want to know is, out of all the stories you told me which ones were true and which ones weren't?
Garak: My dear doctor...they're all true.
Bashir: Even the lies?
Garak: Especially the lies.

Bashir: The trouble with Cardassian enigma tales is that they all end the same way: all the suspects are always guilty.
Garak: Yes! But the challenge is determining exactly who is guilty of what.

Don't laugh, but Enterprise is my favorite. So is Captain Archer.

I..I..what is this..I don't even..

It's good to see so many fans here!
What is your alls favorite episode of Star Trek? Mine is without a doubt the season 4 episode "The Visitor" of Deep Space Nine, in which Sisko actually dies, and Jake lives his entire life being tethered to his being (which is stuck between dimensions) and all though the episode, as Jake grows old, Sisko gets pulled back to him for moments at a time. It's just..it's emotional, I literally cried as a man watching this episode. Some of the best writing I have ever seen honestly. It's tear jerking, funny, and just all around my favorite episode of Star Trek of all the series.

#CptJoker, yes, techinically Chakotey was second in command in Voyager, but I meant more from a "trust" perspective based on the captains. Janeways second hand "man" (the one she trusted more than anyone) was Tuvok, so that's why I listed him.

Garaks and Bashirs conversations while they eat with each other is just truly brilliant. It's hilarious and brilliant at the same time.

What is your alls favorite episode of Star Trek?

Probably Season 5 of TNG's The Inner Light, where Picard is locked onto by a probe sent by a destroyed civilisation, and wakes up on a planet where he lives the life of a weaver. At first he keeps trying to make devices to contact Enterprise, but eventually he starts living the life he's been given. He's married, eventually has children, and forgets about Enterprise. It follows his entire life there, until he's an old man with grandchildren, and they discover their sun is dying, and they go to watch the launch of an early space rocket.

All his family turn to the aged, wrinkly Picard, and tell him that this whole thing has been a recording, designed to teach future species about how that planet lived. The emotion in his face when they tell him that is staggering.

He wakes up on the Enterprise, with all his memories of those events intact. The thing is, throughout the series, Picard is bitter because he never has the opportunity to have a family, raise children. In this episode, he gets his wish, and has an entire life away from home.

I know exactly what episode you are talking about. That is a really good episode. It had it's dry moments that were a bit hard to get through, but the overall theme of theepisode was really good, really good writing.
