Well, I'm personally a huge Star Trek fan. I won all seasons of each series on DVD, and I own The Original Series on BluRay. I also own every ST movie on BluRay. Yes, I have a problem. :o

My personal favorite series is Deep Space Nine. I just love the authority that Sisko brings, and I feel that DS9 is the only series in the entirety of Star Trek that has a.."storyline" of sorts, each episode follows directly with the last, it's almost like a sitcom of sorts. The other shows have a meaning, and they have a "story", but it's mostly just a ship in space floating around looking for trouble. I guess it helps that DS9 takes place 90% on the Space Station instead of a starship. So you just get more character development like that. It's great.

My favorite film is probably the 2009 reboot. Although First Contact was amazing. :D

So please, vote, discuss, and enjoy. Set phasers to fun.

I was actually watching a marathon of 4 episodes or so the other day.

I never really sat down to watch them but they were pretty good.

It was Next Generation. Who doesn't like Dr. Xavier n a space ship? :P

This is right up my alley here, I've been a trekkie ever since I can remember.

I prefer the original series all the way, although I am rather fond of voyager as well. The only one I don't like is Enterprise. Somebody needs to take every last frame of that series and burn it so it can no longer foul up this wonderful franchise. I mean seriously, what were the producers thinking when they came up with the idea...and then go and put Sam Beckett in the captains chair? They sure as hell picked the wrong man to sit in the chair.

Ooops, sorry I got off track a little. As for the latest movie, I haven't seen it, and not really sure how I feel about it. IMO they should've continued with the timeline moving forward, instead of attempting to go backwards. They still had a huge portion of the delta quadrant to explore, not to mention they barely scratched the surface of the Gamma quadrant. Tons of potential there, but they went and threw all that away. IMO Star Trek died with Enterprise.

TNG (DS9 a close seccond)
Picard (Sisko and Kirk tied in a close second).
Odo (Though Kira would more properly be the second in command) Data and Spock and bearded Riker in a three-way tie for second

Don't laugh, but Enterprise is my favorite. So is Captain Archer.

Klingon commander: Lower your shields and prepare to be boarded!
Captain Archer: Go to hell!

I don't think Kirk or Picard were ever quite that diplomatic.

TNG was my favorite of the series and Picard was definitely my favorite captain. But Frakes almost ruined it for me. Number 1 wasn't really a bad character, but I think that he is such a terrible actor that I almost couldn't sit through an episode if he was the main character for it.

TNG is my favourite. I grew up watching it with my family so it is the series that I have the closest connection to. The original is still really good though and I will always enjoy watching it but TNG is where it's at for me. That being said, Picard is my favourite Starship Captain followed quite closely by James Kirk. I feel like there was so much they still could have done with the original timeline but the new film tried instead to reinvent the series with that ridiculous time-travel premise and in the process adversely affected 40 years of Stark Trek cannon. In terms of technical execution the movie was quite well done; I just didn't like anything else about it.

TNG, i guess, since i've not seen any other series

eh, i guess Picard by default since i have not seen any other series.

i guess i'd say Riker, but i think Spock would have taken that if i watched older series; in the movies Spock looks and sounds like a more interesting of the two(probably because he is Vulcan-human and Riker is human)

i have not seen the movie, but just by looking at the picture of how the '09 film interprets the young Spock's look, how their phasers look like toy 21 century guns, and by how Hollywood takes anything and stuffs it with cheese instead of actual story related material, i'd have to say i'd hate the movie, so i am not even going to waste time and or money on it. even though the movies that i did see did not make that great impression on my, i'd still prefer them to the 09 movie.

OP also forgot the comic where the ST universe crossed over with the X-men. I'm sure there was a good reason for both being missed.

Poll Answers:
TNG
James Tiberius Kirk
Spock
Yes

I've seen most of TOS, all of TNG, one episode of DS9, most of voyager and 2/4 seasons of Enterprise. I'm trying to watch all episodes of TOS, Voyager and Enterprise but theres so much that its taking me forever. DS9 is kind of last on my list because its another 7 season golliath and I haven't finished the rest yet. As for the 2009 reboot, I went in hating it and came out thinking "That was actually pretty good." I liked it how they showed you how Kirk passed the Kobiashi Maru test. Ever since I saw Star Trek II (my favorite film tied with back to the future II) I wondered how he did it and i finally got to see how. I was really confused about the alternate universe thing for a while but then I understood it. I think if he made the effort of making it not a one off thing JJ should make a spin off tv series but hey if he wants to do films thats up to him.

I agree, DS9 is my favorite series as well, and I think for the same reasons too. DS9 is the only series where a location is the central piece, that gets visited. Instead of a ship that visits different places. It also had the most cultural development of other aliens -Cardassians, Ferengi, Klingons, even Romulans a bit.

best episode from DS9: the wire.
favorite character: Garak, of course

You forgot the animated series!
and we were doing a right jolly okay until you made us remember :stare:

it like saying don't think of the pink elephant... honestly

kidding :teehee:

special note to T'pol, who brought the two best assets to "Enterprise", and Seven of Nine, who should have simply been named -or nicknamed, even better.. 'Ten' :woot:

I like the Original Series and the Next Generation, I have seen every one of those episodes many times each. I started watching DS9 and Voyager but real life got in the way for a few years and I missed most of them, but I can correct that oversight now with the miracle of streaming video. I really liked the premise of Enterprise and enjoyed some of the episodes, but they tried way too hard to be socially relevant and it came off as ham-fisted, cheesy and really out of place. Like why are Vulcans suddenly vegetarians and why does the crew of the Enterprise, 150 years in the future, telling me about current issues like global warming, human cloning and abortion. Did I accidentally tune into a PSA? Then there was the attack by the Xindi with it's thinly veiled 9-11 theme.

I think Picard was the better captain but Spock was the better first officer, Data would be a close second.

I have mixed feelings about the 2009 reboot. It is the early careers of some of my all time favorite Star Trek characters. I think that the casting was really good for quite a few of them. But as Andrew_S pointed out, they completely changed the cannon. If one were to accept the Star Trek reboot as lore, the they would have to throw out a lot of what happens int he TV series and some of the movies. To the average viewer, it doesn't really matter, but to the serious fans its the worst blunder since the episode of TNG with Scotty contradicted the events of the film Generations.

The Star Trek universe is so vast that there is the potential for a lot more stories and characters to follow around. I'd be interested in a film or series that focused more on the Star Fleet Academy. I was also wanting to find out more about the MACOs from Enterprise.

Shouldn't it be Chakotay in the poll, not Tuvok? Well, maybe he's not officially Star Fleet during the series, but he's still the first officer of Voyager while Tuvok is only chief tactical officer and head of security (equivalent to Worf or Data in TNG, as third in the chain of command.)

Anway, TNG is my favorite series, mostly for the brilliant performances of both Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner (although all the characters have their charm, except Deana.) TNG also had the best plots that went beyond the usual obvious moral dilemmas ("There... are... FOUR LIGHTS!") although the first two seaons are weak as hell, filled mostly with trite nonsense. Season 3 is when the writing crew really found their stride - it's funny to think that Star Trek TNG was, at one time, the highest rated show on TV (then again, the 90s didn't offer much competition.) :P

One of my favorite scenes is when Picard has been trying in vain to negotiate for 3 more weeks to evacuate illegal settlers off a planet, but the bureaucratic race bent on maintaining their terraforming schedule won't budge an inch until Picard finally finds a loophole to take advantage of, and he relishes the victory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYCjqmbsmYA

B) yup it's a nice collection indeed...only one problem. I ordered the Enterprise-E from Diamond Select---but there taking their sweet time in producing these ships and sadly I cannot cancel my order or get my money back...Looks like I'm skrewed. For this reason I no longer use Ebay which is where I "pre-ordered" it <_<.

I was under the impression that it was an alternate timeline after Kirk's father was killed by the Romulans who went through the black hole (can't remember exactly, I'll need to watch it again), so what happened in the TV series and previous movies would have still happened, but just in a separate timeline. If that's the case... I guess that's okay. It's better than just pretending like some of the events from before didn't happen, and it allows them to rebuild the franchise for today's generation of viewers.

My favorite is TNG. LeVar Burton, Patrick Stuart, Brent Spiner, etc. Some great actors there. Though, as others have mentioned, it was pretty meh in the first two seasons.

Voyager was okay. I haven't seen all (or probably even half of it yet), but Jeri Ryan made it so much better. She could assimilate me anytime. :hubbahubba:

I haven't seen but a few episodes of DS9 so I can't really comment on it. Hopefully it comes to Netflix soon.

As far as Enterprise goes, I haven't seen much of that either. But I haven't heard a lot of good about it.

True, and while the idea of alternate timelines has been used in other instances within the Star Trek universe the way it was used in this movie felt more like a substitute for an adamantium bullet. While I liked seeing the early chemistry of these characters, it wasn't really the same characters, these are alternate versions of those I know.

If I made a Star Trek movie that had Captain Data and First Officer Reginald Barclay aboard the Enterprise trying to make a peace agreement with Worf of the Klingon high command in consideration of the Borg threat, who had already assimilated (this cannot be undone as the Enterprises homosixual science officer Will Riker has proved) Admirals Picard and Spock; Star Trek fans would be outraged. If I said that its all okay because it takes place (obviously) in an alternate timeline I doubt that the fans would accept that.

Why bother having a Series if you can plausibly change whatever you want at any time?

Voyager was okay. I haven't seen all (or probably even half of it yet), but Jeri Ryan made it so much better. She could assimilate me anytime. :hubbahubba:
