I found the dragons did not really start to spawn until after the quest where you go to the dragon burial mound with Delphine. In my current game, I did everything in the MQ and then just delayed meeting Delphine there. Random dragons did not spawn (although there were dragons at their special word walls).
After about the 50th dragon, their battles become somewhat meh.... But I'd prefer the randomness and unpredictability of having them around. Although them killing named NPCs in towns can be an annoyance.
seriously after you killed alduin.. nothing really changed.. i dont even know wtf am i playing for anymore.. unlike fallout 3 .. something is not right in skyrim.. :/ it is fun but something is not there... unlike FOs..
I have played mage assasin and warrior.. and in the end my skills still goes down to enchanting smithing alchelmy as priority.. at the hardest level .. with dragon armors or daedric.. i can stand still and let a elder dragon vent its flame on me.. and my health regen is still too fast for it to take me down..
and with sneak at 100 i can kill virtually anything with 1 hit.. no glitches ... bows or dagger..

heh. those are all the worst skills possible (in tandem), as the game stands at the moment. it's so powerful it's not even fun.
