I really like how Minecraft does survival over New Vegas personally. Especially in Elder Scrolls realms, hypothermia and dehydration really aren't an issue for the player character because of magic. Not carrying around a "Flames" Spell to warm yourself would be like going camping without a flint. Water might matter if you're crossing the Alik'r, but I think Skyrim has enough water around to completely invalidate the gameplay connection. Water in New Vegas was even kind of pointless, since the Mojave was little more than a tiny speck of a landmass, water was never more than two minute's walk away. One exception being the Dead Money expansion.
But Food, particularly how it is the source of regenerating health when above a certain point, is a feature I really like. Also, item wear (Though I still don't like total item breakdown) as well is useful from an immersion and practical sense. Practically, it makes the player cycle items through the system, curbing inflation in both gold and materials. From a purely immersive stance, we know things dull and break over use.
I'd rather see sleeping handled a little differently. I don't want "Mandated" Sleeping, but giving it a desirable bonus that lasts for 16 or so game hours would be nice. The experience bonus is actually quite undesirable to a lot of people, such as myself, who don't really want to level any faster. "Well Rested" Should impart a bonus to Stamina and Magicka regeneration instead.
TL;DR hardcoe wishlist
- Auto-regeneration for both Magicka and Health disabled unless "Well Fed". (See: Minecraft Survival mode, PC only atm)
- "Malnourished" (Hunger 50% in arbitrary value form) Stamina regen hindered
- Restore Health alchemy effect changed to Healed over Time. (New Vegas Stimpacs)
- Item Wear
- Sleeping effect changed. (Augmenting Stamina-Magicka regeneration)
That's about it. Again, I still strongly think thirst is not in line with the game. It does not reinforce any thematic angle of the game, as it did in New Vegas.
