So theres not going to be a DLC?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 3:16 pm

OMFG, It's amazing how many people spend their time getting on these forums (that are meant to help people) and troll all because someone asked a simple yes or no question.
The answer to your very shortminded question is: YES!

A lot of companies release dlc this early or even earlier, sometimes at release. It isn't really sometimes anymore either, it's a growing trend; Batman did it, DA2 and Warhammer... it's a growing list. I remember Phantasy Star had the DLC on the actual release disk (what a load of nonsense that was).

I'm glad they haven't released any though. It shows a commitment to the development cycle and integration of ideas into the actual core game. I wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer for dlc, especially if it was quality material like what they did with Oblivion, or to a lesser extent Fallout's.

Dlc is probably done already but they're fixing the game first.

Lol, MW3 hasn't even come out with their DLC yet, and you expect skyrim to be faster than that?!

Ah right, my bad, misread your post.

Either way, I am completely serious. 100 hours in and still have a LOT more to do.

Ah, I see now. What you're talking about are cases where companies deliberately left stuff out of their game so they could sell it separately even though it was fully developed at the time of the main game's release. That methodology leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me not want to buy from them.

Bethesda released everything they had developed for Skyrim that was ready for release. They're still working on the first DLC. I consider that to be a more customer-oriented way to do business. We'll see the DLC when they're close to being done with it. I suppose one could view it as them being too rushed to get things out the door, but that is normal for Bethesda.

Oh wow ive done almost everything possible to do on here throughout over 6 characters. Its really boring now...

Go outside, spend christmas with your family, play something else. I've spent 170 hours on one character and haven't even finished the main quest yet. I don't mind waiting for DLC.

This is not BF3, were not waiting for a map pack. They are working on patches, there is still a lot of stuff that needs to be fixed (hot keys, psychic guards, psychic people, quest bugs, graphical glitches ect). Then we will see DLC, maybe some new houses/buildings, but very likely an expansion.

I was surprised by this as well, and then that reminded me BF3 has released DLC already. It's like everyone but Bethesda is doing it nowadays; I can hardly buy an indie game without some $4 pack coming out for it a couple months later.

Beth has to fix the game as best they can 1st and if the DLC is around the size of point lookout if not a little bit bigger they will need to debug it 1st, in addition to making it good in the 1st place.

It's a;ready been confirmed they are not doing little DLC addittions...they are working on full blown expansions. So sit tight. Play the core Skyrim as it is now, and when they are ready you will get a lot more than what you would expect from a DLC....

PS. I HIGHLY doubt you have seen all that Skyrim has to offer.

To be honest I have more respect for Bethesda that there wasnt same day one dlc for this game, or dlc that is already on the disk but you have to pay to unlock. I dont have a problem waiting for dlc if good and if it was created after the game was finished. Alot of companys simply are not doing this, but instead are charging for crapy short dlc and for things that are already on the disc (Im looking at you Gears of War 3)

BF3 had B2K to promote their LE and increase pre-orders and for many that was the selling point of Battlefield 3 because DICE's recent maps in recent games have been horrible so how can they ruin maps they just remake? kinda hard even for DICE

I haven't bought any game that charges for DLC (with more then just skins) within a month of release, couple months later yes but 1 month no.

BGS also stated they are not planning on doing mini DLC's as they did with Fallout 3 they are releasing bigger ones such as Shivering isles supposedly that would take more then a month and on top of that Skyrim currently isn't exactly excellent in the bugs department/optimization/glitches/etc department.

Guessing January is when you get all the DLC (when the CS gets released).

I don't really remember any DLC that someone couldn't do in the CS except the horse armor.

Most of it was new houses, and spells randomly dropping.

Beth is usually really good with their DLC, some are bad the house stuff in Oblivion, Operation Anchorage, Mothership zeta and the butt of all Beth DLC jokes Horse Armor, do come to mind as bad if not below average DLC's but Shivering Isles was really good and so was The Pitt and Point Lookout. Skyrim's DLC's should be good we will just have to wait and see.

Most game developers would of released a DLC by now whats up Bethesda?

1) "Would've", not "would of". "Would of" makes absolutely no sense.

2) You don't release DLC for a game that can easily run players 200 hours on a single playthrough. Sure, release DLC for some piddly five-hour shooter that they can finish off in an afternoon, but there's no point rushing to it on a substantially longer game. Many players probably won't be ready for Skyrim DLC until at least Valentine's Day, and that's not really even taking into account that many players probably aren't playing the game yet on account of it being wrapped under Christmas trees.

You mean most developers as in Treyarch/Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer?

That's because they're money grabbing idiots.

Bethesda haven't even fixed the game yet, nevermind thinking about DLC.

its a bad trend a lot of devs have started picking up to milk as much money out of you as possible. honestly unless its an amazing game i just say screw it and wait until GOTY or something like that with all DLC

It's quite clear he's a CoD fan, I haven't seen DLC come out for a game in a month except the new NFS and Black Ops.
