Here's a useful tip I found: if you want to steal something when someone is nearby, hold the button down to pick it up and move out of their line of sight so you're hidden. Then you can safely steal it.

Yeah, line of sight is key. My FAVORITE way to go about this however, is to place a basket on their heads.

Good call though... will likely make it to the next edit.

No, it looks totally (well sorta) different too. DIfferent arrow head, and it's shorter. It "fits" inside the crossbow the sphere's use. Also, dwarven arrows have base 14 damage, this is like an ebony arrow (20) and available at the very start. (mostly).

There's also the giant club, but that weapon is just too silly to let a follower use (excepting Cicero). That's why I didn't mention it.
Yeah I've had the club glitch and got my follower to pick it up. Pretty funny when they hit weak enemies.

I think this is starting to be considered too close to the cheats and hints section.

I learned this little trick a while ago.

While in 3rd person, activate sneak and ready your weapon. Doing this allows you to run(not sprint) at full speed while sneaking.

I'm on the xbox, not sure if it works on pc or ps3. Anyone else know of this?

Oh, another useful tip: When overburdened, pull out and draw your bow. You now move faster, especially if you have the perk that increases your movement speed with a drawn bow.

¨58) Another little trick is you can FUS pressure plate traps to activate them, or shoot them with arrows. -Haggar (and me). Works with trip wires too, if you're a REALLY good shot. I bet same with bear traps, but I haven't tested. In the same vein, fire runes in that oil on the floor is a great way to ruin a draugr's day.¨
yes you can shoot arrows at bears traps.i din′t now you can shoot trip wire.awesome

yeah, you can. I figured that out when I was in a bandit lair, I was hidden and I shot one, and the other one saw me so I shot the tripwire behind him and the trap killed him. It made me feel awesome XD

Perhaps deadric could. I've never tried "half shots"... never occurred to me.

However, this is referring to "real" stuff, not glitching your smithing, enchanting and alchemy up to insane levels.

I'm not sure if you're talking about just the "standard" loop (which is perfectly OK in my book) to use, but WITH QUICKSHOT a Bound Bow fires about 3 shots per single daedric shot. I"ll definitely recheck some things, but unless you're using max power enchants (with the aspect of terror) I'm nearly positive daedric can't get to 3x Bound Bow damage "legitly". You are "correct" though, that by glitching it could easily surpass the damage with enough smithing. That said, you could just "super' enchant some archery gear for the same effect (and BBow would also benefit).

Worth mentioning is that a BBow in any case is the (far) better choice, since you CAN'T fire 3 daedric shots with any kind of damage as quickly as a full charged BBow shot. Unless you're fighting something with huge HP (lookin at you Krosis) BBow will take out more targets faster. I'll check again with full powered V/N + destruction perk enchants, and highest smithing obtainable v BBow, but I'm still pretty sure the BBow reigns supreme. You know, I take it back. I bet you're correct. Double enchants is another 70 damage... I'll check, but you might just be right about this. I'll leave it in for posterity however.

Yeah I meant without the Restoration glitch, with simple smith/enchanting. Actually try it out in-game against something with lots of health, e.g. Mammoth. You will end up killing far faster with smithed weapons late-game than Bound Bow. This is especially true if you start off with a sneak attack. In addition, the heavier bows benefit more from Quick Shot (30% faster draw speed) than the lighter bows, since while the perk mitigates their lengthy draw times, all bows will still have to spend the same amount of time nocking an arrow and recoiling after the shot.

Faster lighter bows obviously benefit more when using certain enchantments such as Paralysis or Absorb H/M/S, or with the Power Shot perk as you're more likely to cause enemies to stagger with multiple shots.

I recently discovered this one myself, not sure if others have or not: when you use the Become Etheral shout your stamina doesn't drain, but you can obviously still sprint, so if you wear the Amulet of Talos and/or use the shrine of Talos you can keep Become Etheral up pretty much indefinitely and thus you'll be able to sprint forever. It's fairly useful for me since I don't use fast travel.

That if you're not really careful with the Wabbajack, you could turn your followers into a pile of gold and a sweet roll. permenetly. (most things turn back into what they were when hit)

Here's a very minor tip: Different types of quests have different 'headers' next to their title in the quest log. Thieves' guild quests have keys, Daedric quests have 'O' in Daedric writing (the symbol on the cover of Oblivion), and Dark Brotherhood quests have skulls. This can clue you into the nature of certain quests, like 'A Night to Remember'

Hey coug! Good to see ya man!

You will end up killing far faster with smithed weapons late-game than Bound Bow. This is especially true if you start off with a sneak attack. OK... I'm not sure about the other stuff, but while the "overall time saved" from quick shot is higher with heavy bows... that doesn't change the dps. I promise. It's a percentage decrease which affects both. Meaning you're dividing both sides of the equation. Practically, it might "help" a heavier bow more, but DPS doesn't change in relation to each other.

Additionally, I believe the animation problem was fixed at some point, as you DO in fact nock faster. At least in 1.5 for PS3... and I'm not talking about the fake out that we used to have. A full damage shot occurs when it SHOULD now, not like before when you had to just kinda "know" when it was time to fire.

You could be right though, especially when factoring in a sneak attack. The fact is though, that damage that high only really makes a difference in a few situations, whereas faster fire speed is pretty much always useful. Either way, as I've said, Daedric has a MUCH longer range, which some people like. I don't hate "real" bows anymore (I used to) but IMO they are much more oriented towards sneaking, whereas the BBow is more of an in combat weapon.

Also, I'll be updating again soon. I've got a few more to add to the list, and they aren't even Dawnguard related. :)

I would like to request a sticky. It has proven quite useful.

Details like the Ebony Blade, or the Legendary steel Sword damage detail, are very interesting points.

And the spoilers are top notch recommendations

An update to the infinite arrow: also give the guard a good bow. Increases the likelihood of using the arrow you gave.

*whistles while counting 500+ daedric arrows and 700+ ebony arrows. :)
