Is this "cheap", or just playing smart?

On one hand...

-The game's rules are that you must have an unenchanted weapon for it to work
-You are breaking the rules, therefore cheating. The game once again fails to work properly, thus this is a bug, not a loophole within the rules.

On the other hand...

-This rule svcks. The shout would be my alltime favorite if not for this restriction.
-It's a single player game. Do whatever you damn well please.

Splitting hairs...
-It doesn't tell you that you're not allowed to in the shout, only when you actually try to use an enchanted weapon. Therefore, the rule is only valid if it happens to tell you to. If it doesn't how are you to "know" in the first place?

It's up to you, bro.

Well, what I've been doing is that I essentially have 2 sets of weapons - I have 2 enchanted weapons (including the Mace of Molag Bal) that I use in times where I can't use Elemental Fury, or for whatever reasons don't want to (I.E.: maybe I want to use the Soul Trap effect of the mace for instance), and then I have a set of 2 unenchanted weapons that I use when Elemental Fury is available to me, or perhaps I am fighting against humanoids where Soul Trap doesn't apply, so I don't want to waste charges.

Kind of a weird workaround, but I had honestly not known until I posted this thread that you couldn't use Elemental Fury with enchanted weapons. Apparently in previous play throughs I never had enchanted weapons when I'd use that shout.

Well, i acquired 27 gold bars from the Halted Stream Camp thanks to the Transmute spell. If that spell had been added by a mod, i'd consider it cheating :hehe:

Bethesda just doesn't think these things trough, so play how you like. The game's balance apparently wasn't a big concern for the devs, so it doesn't need to be for the players either

wait trans mutate is in skyrim ???? i've never seen it

So, I didn't realize until very recently that the shout Elemental Fury did not work with enchanted weapons.

However, on the UESPWiki, I read that it only checks to see if there is an enchantment on your left hand weapon, thus if you are dual wielding (like I do), you can have an enchanted weapon in your right hand, and a non enchanted weapon in your left hand, and the shout will work.

So, with that said, is it cheap to equip an unenchanted weapon in my left hand to have usage of the Elemental Fury shout? Or is that just a smart usage of one's abilities and gear?
I think you have misread, from the wiki..
The elemental fury only affects the weapon in the right hand (needs to be unenchanted) but the weapon in the left hand can be enchanted as its unaffected.

Although I just checked and uesp counters this, not sure which is right.

Well I can confirm from experience that having an enchanted weapon in the right hand, non enchanted in the left, and Elemental Fury works. I haven't tried it, however, the other way around.

I think this needs to be fixed. As it stands it prioritizes transmuting silver ore over iron ore. Makes smithing Silver Ingots a living hell. Cast spell, open menu, scroll down to silver ore, drop, exit menu, repeat. I hate it.

so what do you need silver ingots for over gold ingots other than selling?
