The only one that matters is 1918. Otherwise we would all be playing Die Alten Schriftrollen and have no say in whether our government invades another one's country..

On the other hand, World War 2 would probably never have happened.

Most likely because many people like to wear a sort of..."nerdbadge" and push past real life events or try to put entertainment software as more important than the outer world. Funny thing is many of these people are far from even following video games namely RPGs from their existence or from a notable area.

Which is a shame. Entertainment will always exist but should be indulged without over-excess just like everything else. People should take care of themselves in both body and mind(strive to be smarter, learn more, while keeping bodies healthy and strong) and also devote/have fun with their families/friends.

At the same time video games can also fit into your time slot. But you have to indulge in limits without compromising yourself.

Well said. On November 11, I will wake up, eat a moderate meal, go to Jiu Jitsu practice, go to a hockey game with close friends, watch a war movie to reconnect with history, play Skyrim. In that order. Variety is the spice of life, yes?

I hope this topic is just for fun, because history won't remember a video game release.

I am sorry, when many people die, and this is serious to so many people, I just don't see the humour at all. Some things you just don't joke about. Like Ibiodesgaten said, we all could be playing a different game and not choosing our goverment.

I for one will be giving a moment of silence. We can do that much at least.

Lest us Never Forget.

The general rules of humor is that one can joke about something as long is it happened more than 70 years ago.

I'm sorry, I know this is off topic, but that statement is wrong in so many ways. The idea that "we would all" have been taken over by Germany (assuming that includes the United States) is ludicrous. WWI was not a war of world domination - it was an war between two more-or-less equal European alliances. It was a useless, wasteful endeavor. This was not good guys vs. bad guys, it was just plain idiocy, a complete failure of the alliance system. Second, none of the major powers (except the US) had a say as to whether their country got involved in it - both sides had a series of treaties requiring them to go to war if one of their alliance was attacked, so when the first declaration started, all the various countries automatically were at war. Finally, the idea that we now have a say in whether our country invades another country is pretty funny. The US is currently bombing 5 countries at least - I don't recall being asked about that.

I think it also depends on the situation you're in. (i.e. don't make don't make Hitler jokes when you're at the Holocaust museum.)

edit: Don't make any jokes when you're at the Holocaust museum.)

Right there shows your class.I see no humour in that at all. So this is more important that Rememberance Day (in Canada even though it's not a holdiay in some provinces but still marked)?

Shame on you right there. :shakehead:

To the rest of the world YOUR countries remembrance day is about as important as skyrim's release. Importance is relative.

Yet a good number of countries do acknowledge a remembrance type holiday. World War 1 didn't only affect Canada, ya know?

Just because it is not our country, that does not mean we cannot feel sorrow for others lives, and for what they gave it for. Such as when i first heard that hundreds upon hundreds of russian men fought to protect their country from the Blitzkrieg, i could not help but feel patriotic, in the sense that men doing that for others is incredibly righteous.

I feel pity and disgust when I look back at war. There is nothing righteous about dying because people let psychopaths take over their country. Besides war like that is a thing of the past, I'd perfer to leave it there, instead of bringing it up over and over even when anyone who remembers anything about it is going to be dead not long from now.

Yes, and Skyrim is probably the least notable item on that list. No one will care about Skyrim's release date in 7 days.
