This game is UNREAL

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:48 pm

I made a account on this forum for one reason and only one reason, and thats to give my opinion on this amazing game.

When I was younger I was a big time D&D nerd, I would sit around a table with a group of guys playing. Since that time really there have been no games to match that experience most RPG games nowadays are like hack and slash games. Although I enjoy a little of that sometimes I just want to be able to spend time going around towns and actually playing my character. So for awhile now I have just been playing FPS like call of duty, actually one of my clanmates on COD was playing this game which is how I came to try it. I can honestly tell you it has totally and utterly made me addicted to it, I cant tell you how much I enjoy playing my thief.

I also heard there would be expansions for this game which is crazy since honestly the core game right now is keeping me sooo busy. This is by far the best game I have played in a long long time, the amount of content and the vastness of the world is crazy. I just want to thank the designers for putting soo much effort into this game and giving me a very enjoyable experience.

Hehe I love posts like this ;)

It reminds me of when I first got into Elder Scrolls, with Morrowind back when I was younger.

If you think THIS is awesome, you should play an RPG!

I kid! But seriously, try out Morrowind or Oblivion if you like Skyrim.

I've been playing comp and video games since the mid 70s and I have to say that this is the best rpg I have ever played. I almost 100 hours on my second character and I still haven't hit all the cites yet and my quest log is full.

So much of my time is stopping and gawking at the landscape. There are fireflies at night. Amazing. Totally amazing. Last night I saw an Imperial patrol walk ahead of me. I tried to follow them but got interrupted by a bear. When I caught up to them, half of them were wiped out along with their prisoner aside a dead saber cat. Totally random.

This game is so full of win.

This game is very big, huge, in fact, I`m discovering that, which is quite something for games these days.

I`m probably wasting my time saying this, but you should check out previous rpgs which are even bigger and more detailed. Of course, they are not quite as graphically impressive, but if you can get past that, they`ll svck you in even more than Skyrim. You`ll truly feel like you`ve lived in a fantasy world.

You are missing a lot, somehow. I have 90 hours in, and still have a lot to do. New quests everywhere I go as well as undiscovered loccations. Only about halfway done with the MQ, too. You are rushing it, my friend.

Totally agree. I'm at 252 hours (I actually stopped playing for a little - LA Noire got me hooked as well) with two characters. A Nord Warrior Level 46 with 120 hours and then this pure Mage I'm playing (avatar image); level 45 with 132 hours.

I feel like I've only done about 60% of the game.

Then you're playing it wrong.

I'm 86 hours in and I've started 4 questlines, and not completed any. I'm nowhere near done, I'd say I'm less than a fifth through this game.

Mind-boggling. :nope: I have over 200 hours with one character and still finding new stuff. She's done the main quest/civil war and the mage college and is semi-retired at the moment, but definitely in no way finished. The great thing about this game is all the nooks and crannies that can be explored when the main quest(s) are done.

My Troll-dar is going off...

I personally love the game and have been playing since release. 300+ hours in and still haven't done some of the factions and many many city quests, wilderness quests, etc. This game will keep me busy for a long time, and since I'm on the PC the mods will just add to it once the CC comes out.

That's wierd, I have 55 hours on my Warrior, and I've only finished the Companion's questline and am near done with the Stormcloak questline.

My main character was level 34 when he finished the main quest.

-Mage guild
-Thieves guild
-Stormcloaks
-Main quest
- ~20 random quests including daedric quests related to Nightmare, Wonderland, and Hangover(...)

After finishing the war, there really wasn't much more to do but take on the main quest.

Next playthrough, if I ever get the time, I'll go fighter's guild, empire and dark brotherhood, and do all the daedric quests.

That's exactly how I felt when I first played Morrowind, then Oblivion and now Skyrim! And I tell you one thing, the feeling of awe and amazement never go away, they increase with every TES game!

I just LOVE Tamriel... it feels almost, truly alive! It's like reading a great Fantasy book, only that you are living it! I played Oblivion for over 6000 hours and I still have it installed on my other system. I think I'm close on 400+ hours for Skyrim now and I hardly touched the main story (on my 2nd toon LOL. Finished all the main stories on my first one, but there are still places I have yet to explore).

I have to agree 100% with the OP. I am in the same boat making the jump from COD when MW3 just wouldn't entertain me anymore. I have played a lot, and seriously want to just keep playing forever. I love the job the game does in interweaving quests. You go to a town to finish one quest, that town gives you at least 2-3 more quests and so on. I see myself playing this game till finish and will try Oblivion and Morrowind after. I barely play MW3 or Fifa 12 now and it is gathering dust on my shelf. I really think it is due to the balance between action to relate to FPS and RPG material like smithing etc.

Gotta love skyrim!

tamriel is a world.

Anyone doing the game in 50-60 hours isn't seeing all the game has to offer by a mile. I'm over 300 hours and haven't done it all, haven't seen it all and haven't done the Main Quest yet...only the beginning of it. It's massive...and awesome...and incredibly fun and thanks OP for great post. It's the way I feel too.

Then you didn't take your time and probably fast traveled everywhere. You probably aren't a high level for the better quests and think you've completed the game even though you've hardly scratched the surface.

If you fast travel everywhere, have a strategy guide right next to you... and have somehow magically discovered every location in game.

Its still gonna be at least an 80 hour game, at least.

It is just physically not possible to do everything in the game in 60 hours. I'm working on my speed character right now, and I'm right at 79 hours with a few side quests left. Pretty much played the entire game in fast forward, used the Main Quest to get locations, got Frost pretty quick, and... I don't know. I just don't see how anyone can say they've done every quest, every guild, every side quest, and have nothing left to do after 60 hours.

Finding ALL the locations and exploring ALL the dungeons alone is going to tack on at least another 30 hours to this character.

On fast forward, game is easily 100+ hr game.

Also, levels are sort of redundant past 50 and really people just create their own cap by not levelling other skills.

I get it that people want to play archetypes, but I'm pretty sure most people in Skyrim would like to keep every tool at their disposal... doesn't mean you have to use those skills/spells. You are going to miss out on a lot of perks to further define your character if you stick with the same skills/spells.

Well, yes, character building itself is 20 hours plus.

Grats on enjoying the game, its easy to get lost, and you'll probably enjoy the game much more if you stay away from the forums.
