Obsidian don't have any better stories than Bethesda - indeed a lot of FNV is flat and uninvolving - but they clearly care much more for the stories they do have and put a lot of effort into them.
Edit:
New Vegas was a much better story then Fallout 3 and much less flat. If Obsidian knows anything its stories and character development (not to say they developed the main character (you) very well but that was left open for role playing) but other characters and factions as whole. Fallout 3 was so flat the whole game boiled down to "turn this thing on" just a whole bunch of enclave got in your way. The water purifier was a very boring story compared to an all out war between the CL and NCR. Also in fallout 3 your character no matter how you wanted to play the story made your character out to be a whiny lil [censored] in search for your papa. New Vegas your made out to be the most dedicated bravest and badass package delivery boy the wastes have ever seen :mohawk: !
If your going to make such a claim please support it please. I would like you to explain why you think 3 has a better story and is less flat then NV. And maybe i could understand why you see it that way. I still like 3 but NV was much deeper and more fun
Two favorite things about FO3:
1. Nuka Grenades
2. Collaring people and sending 'em to Paradise Falls
I miss both of those. I miss them a lot.
I must say I forgot about enslaving people. that was random brilliant fun. when people pissed you off, off they go to Paradise!
I kinda feel the opposite way - playing New Vegas is making me want to start F3 again. But I won't as I'm barely 1/5 of the way through FNV at the moment. Its not that I don't love FNV, I do, its just that I miss certain things that haven't been replaced - Chinese Assault Rifle, Clover, Dogmeat, the whole urban DC setting.
I love that in FNV deathclaws are truly dangerous now, and that DT makes things much tougher/realistic. hardcoe mode is also good. Lets hope that F4 contains the best of both!
there is a dog but it isn't dogmeat but hes cool hes my favorite friend to have in New Vegas
