I was also surprised we couldn't fish when I saw the fishing poles. Would have been fun if they could have done it right. I was surprised there was no way to make friends with the Forsworn other than the one quest that really doesn't change much. I find it funny that I can kill my companion but nobody else can.
Not much else really. I didn't read up anything on the game before it came out because I wanted to be surprised by it all so I had no expectations. Sometimes it's better to just stay in the dark on things.
For me, the lack of mounted combat - I never use horses because I can't be doing with stopping and climbing off them every time a frostbite spider or something appears - horses seem like such a chore without mounted combat - it's not like they're very fast even.
And the vanity camera change was a weird move. It was kinda nice to be able to rotate around your character at any time and I found it quite useful to pan around while running as the equivalent of turning your head and looking around - particularly to check if a foillower was doing something daft behind me.
I wish I could run and jump and also jump and attack. I was hoping I could fish since there are fishing poles around. I was also hoping there would be more underwater exploration, enemies and possibly the abillity to attack underwater even though it may be hard haha. I was expecting more unique loot that looks original and has original properties that you possibly obtained from defeating hard bosses or finding in hidden dungeons and such. I would love more weapons and armours too.
I was wanting alot more spells and spell variety possibly with more robes hehe.
But nevertheless I still enjoy the game and look forward to improvement.
Bloody hell, how many complaint threads do you guys need?!
13275 is the exact figure. We reach that next week.
@Thread
I miss not being able to look around while on horseback. I knew there was no first person view from the previews, but it still looked like you could look around you. I used to find all sorts of things in Oblivion from horseback, now I just see a horses ass.
I was also hoping for destructible environments. So if I casted a fireball at a tree it could catch on fire and burn to ashes andI could eventually burn entire forests down. The trees would grow back though as I wouldn't want to permanently ruin them as I love the forests hehe. Another idea is casting an ice spell at water causing it to frieze, possibly create ice bridges to walk across or maybe frieze waterfalls and such. I don't really know what to do for lightning though, possibly causing flames/fire as well, maybe electrocuting the water too. You could also cast a fire spell at water creating steam or something.
I just think it would be neat if destruction spells had more impact on nature hehe.
I'm not sure if Beth ever said anything about it, but I just remember the multitude of rumors about having your own children. Obviously, that didn't happen.
Also, at least ONE marriage choice for each race, rather than five hundred nord and imperial ones.
A good job system that accually feels like you are working instead of doing a mini game menu search. Shop keepers dying than family memebers taking over all over the game Killable NPCS (all or improved system) Freaking indenity mistake while wearing a helmet!! (when wearing a full face-half face helmet it is hard for people to know who you are!) Have an impact on the events in the game. Have consequence to my actions. Thats all I can think of right now
- You could fire arrows from horseback in a particular N64 game...why can't we do that in 2012? After 200+ hours I still have not mounted even one horse. At least if there were combat on horseback, I'd be more inclined to use horses. Imagine my Conan riding into a Forsworn camp, savagely beheading foes from atop his steed!
- Mix and match armor pieces. I must have not noticed the information about this prior to release. I am still upset by it. It made finding new armor interesting in Oblivion, even after hundreds of hours of playing. My character always had a different look, and I liked all of them.
- I thought that I could affect the world by my actions. Other than prescripted quest outcomes, I don't feel like I have in any way.
I remember getting that same impression from some of the articles.
Me too. I so wished that was the case. Imagine being able to cast the same spell in different ways, using the controller, so that you'd wave your casting hand in a distinct way and either an AOE, flame or ball would come out. Neat.
The mills. I tried so hard to get it to work. I eventually resorted to putting wheat in the thing then doing the animation. I was disappointed slightly.
I imagined you'd be able to acquire a house without completing any quests. Surely it should have been as mortgageable in the eyes of Beth to spam the means by chopping wood or whatever, rather than having to assist X citizens of the Hjallmarch ( or whatever ) and become Thane in order to acquire some rotten hut... more quotidian gameplay options in future please.
i thought i could attack underwater so i didnt think twice about readying my weapon and attacking the first slaughterfish that thought i would make a tasty meal...but then i couldnt pull my blade out and lost half my health trying to do so before i went on land and dispatched the evil fish in the shallows. and quickly shut off my xbox and searched for the answer to what the heck was up with that then i found out i couldnt attack underwater and spent the next 10 minutes cursing how cheap it is to include slaughterfish when you cant do anything about them or even just punch them until you get them into the shallows.
i thought there would be eating and sleeping animations....dont know why, it just seemed like it was obviously going to be in the game. but alas, i was wrong
I thought I couldn't possibly fit my Argonian's head into a small leather cap ~I was wrong. http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/Nok_in_a_hat.jpg
I thought we'd be able to change hairstyles. They never said so, but I figured they'd stick with FOR and include a barber. I also thought there'd be at least one bookstore.
I thought I could dump everything I wanted in a single container, and it would be maintained in a categorized and alphabetized way, like my inventory. Man, was I wrong.
Sometimes while I play on xbox360 the rivers(especially waterfalls) are frozen in place. It is rare, but looks friggin horrendous. So though not intentional, Beth did manage to freeze water.
