When I was a Lifeguard I had a co-worker named Sock. Sock Barnes. I have no idea who names their kid after foot apparel.

Sadly this isn't a one time thing... I think someone at my school or somewhere near had the same name.

I knew a little boy named... Well it will be censored..... but an obscene variation on the word feces and head put together, pronounced she-thaed but when written I was like "Wow... REALLY?"

As for unusual names,
A friend of the family is named Sunshine; she goes by "Sun". Ran into another Sunshine somewhere else, but can't remember.

Students named Elvis, Justice, and Heavenly.

What's so strange about that? It's a proper name, it's the Slavic version of Darius. Apparently it's fairly common in places like Serbia and Croatia.

Anyway, I think the worst naming job has to be the New Zealand parents that wanted to name their kid "4Real", because when he was born they knew it was "for real". I would have called her "Lahyphena", then. You'd still be pronouncing it correctly, since the mother insisted on having the line sounded out .

I've come across some...odd names in my time. In high school, I knew a guy named Ben Toavar (sounds like "bent over") and another named Richard Hedd (he got a lot of grief). I work with a guy named William Cox (who goes by "Willie"). Other odd names I've come across:

It's an Anglicized version of Jüngling, or "young man" in German. Go where you want with that...
