Torchlight

Is it sad I'm looking forward more to Torchlight 2 than Diablo 3? Even though both look identical? Lol

I guess this could be a Torchlight discussion. What i your favourite class? Your favorite level?

Torchlight 2 has co op multiplayer. 4 class builds, and is making loot more fun.

I'm playing an Alchemist right now, level 26 and have 9/10 ember bolt and 10/10 summon imps. Nothing gets by me :P gonna play a Warrior and then Vanquisher next.

I have both for xbox and pC and i find the xbox controls are better, but pc has mods. It's hard which one to play lol

The main difference between Torchlight and Diablo 3 is that the Torchlight devs are awesome!

Not to mention the fact that Torchlight 2 is going to be very moddable, doesn't require an internet connection for single player, and is a lot cheaper as well.

I played quite a bit of Torchlight, as the Alchemist. A mix of offensive magic and summons.

Torchlight is quite fun and I am looking forward to the second one and will probably preorder as soon as I am able. The modding seemed awkward for the first game so hopefully it is a bit easier to (un)install mods from the second game.

I hope we get some news on Torchlight 2 soon, Runic has been awfully quiet about Torchlight 2 recently. Last thing I've heard was the delay announcement.

Diablo 3 must have something to do with it. Theyd want to release it before Blizz releases Diablo 3. At least that would make sense from a business point of view. i think lol

It would make sense. There hasn't been a good hack 'n slash RPG in a while now, so if Torchlight 2 comes out a good amount of time before Diablo 3 it should sell really well. But if they had released it during the big flood of games of November/December it would probably be missed by many people.

Or as they said on Rock Paper Shotgun, 'you're all still playing Skyrim anyway!'.

Torchlight was kinda fun for a while. But it lacked that certain something that Diablo had that kept it interesting. Each new level felt like the same blah blah blah in Torchlight.

I too love the first torchlight (I prefer using the Vanquisher) & really look forward to TL2

Torchlight 2 seems to be one of those rare cases in the modern industry where they do everything right with a sequel and just keep adding tons of new things people wanted, instead of the other way around.

The first Torchlight was made on a short schedule after the team reformed from the Hellgate flop. It was a financial success and people appreciated it for what it was. Now they're taking the time they need to polish the sequel.

It looks like they fixed most of the issues Torchlight had in the sequel. Better writing (the original didn't have much of a story), larger levels, outdoor areas, multiple towns, some visual character customization, and of course multiplayer.

Also a nice little trailer. It's good to finally see some info coming out again.

The familiar Torchlight cartoony graphics style reminds me of how schizophrenic Diablo 3's art style is. Diablo 3 seems to be unsure of whether it wants to be the old dark and gritty style or a new cartoony style.

Haven't seen the trailer yet but I'm glad to hear there's a rough estimate for it's release & as soon as the retail version is available for (pre)order I'm going for it

I loved Torchlight. I remember the mods forum we had on here back when it came out...shame it never really went anywhere, I see to remember we were going to have the mods as end bosses and stuff like that?

I'm getting Diablo 3 for free anyway, because I signed up to the Blizz Annual Pass, so I'll definitely be buying Torchlight 2.

I'd say 3 months after Diablo 3, but no matter the release dates are too close together, they are somewhat screwed.

D3 or Torchlight 2, hmm... choice choice. Hell with it I'll buy both :P

Torchlight 2 will be only $20 so it shouldn't be too expensive to buy both. :P

I love Runic, I'd give $60 for T2, but they better give me something special for that price.

They don't need to sell nearly as much as a typical AAA title to turn a profit either, so all the doom & gloom over releasing close to Diablo seems like hyperbole to me.

I really enjoyed the 360 demo. I'd like to play T2 but from what I understand its only on the PC. Does anyone know if it will ever reach the 360?

I'm sure it will eventually. Torchlight sold pretty well on the Xbox I think. I got it, even though I had it for PC already and a few of my friends had it as well.

I don't really see the two as competing. At least not directly. Sure, they might compete for your time, but they're two rather different takes on the ARPG genre. I'm looking forward to both, though much more to D3. I have trouble imagining that Torchlight will have anything close to the polish and balance and lifespan of a Blizzard game.

I am looking forward to Torchlight 2 very much. Reasonably priced, fun fast gameplay, from a smaller Dev with way less strings attached when I want to play. Plus an art style I like. What's not to like. :)

I don't know what Runic'd done, 360 does not have enough memory for T2? That sounds like some foundamantal flaw in programming design.
