Troll in early game. Bug or just luck?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 1:53 pm

Hrothgar is not the only mountain in the game, it is just the highest one.

However, Random Spawns are just that, Random. While a Troll is rare at low levels, it is not unexpected either. This is not the first thread I have seen on a Troll outside of Riverwood. Also, that is a relatively low level Troll, so it makes sense that it might come up at a lower level.

^ pretty much, it's random I've bumped into both frost and normal troll's at low Lv's, but I like to wander off and explore. If you stay down on the lower plains you most likely will not see a troll but if you wander off up into the high ground(not just the highest) your chances of seeing a troll are greater. From my experience.

@CCNA Accept that he pretty much punched everyone out ina breeze and didn't took any dmg at all!

I did not say a low level troll was a wimp.

Happened to me a few times in a vanilla game, I crossed the bridge in Riverwood then went up the hill towards Whiterun & there he was, I usually get wolves there.

I ran, I'm not ashamed.

If trolls could win awards for beauty, that one would. The textures...so beautiful...
Anyways, I've never seen a troll there, only wolves. Probably just bad luck.

@CCNA He actually spawned right after I crossed the bridge in Riverwood, I didn't walk up to Hrothgar.

edit: i have no mod installed

Really? I have yet to see a troll that looks like that and I'm on console. I have only seen the normal frost and greenish troll's.

This^ and the frost troll is all I've seen. The one in your pic. looks bigger and scarier, troll's aren't on a Lv. system are they? As in, the one in your pic. is a Lv.20 troll while the normal lokking troll is a Lv.5 or something?

At low levels, a wolf always spawned at that location. I've never had it not spawn in the dozen or so characters I've started. I'd have to call it aglitch.

WHOA wtf. I've never in all my hundreds of hours of play encountered a troll that handsome. Is he like some kind of unique spawn or something?

I remember doing it at least once, but I must've overlooked it and wrote it off as a normal troll. Looks like maybe OP encountered a troll with that skin due to a cache error? I've noticed a few odd things happening now that I have 4 or 5 characters on one console..it's like certain things bleed into other files.

You see those things behind the Troll in the screenshot? Those are mountains and the higher up you go in the mountains, the tougher the enemies are. So, yes you can met up with a Troll at Level 1 if you go up in the mountains. The game has a path to get you to Whiterun from Riverwood that keeps you down low so all you have to do is deal with Wolves and maybe a Bear or two. If you take any of the shortcuts over the mountains, then a troll will come to collect the toll.

This is true, I was very low level on my first character and taking a "shortcut" from Riverwood to Whiterun and ran into a Frost Troll up in the snowy hills. Happened more than once. I just ran away. The trolls in Skyrim are not very fast compared to their Oblivion counterparts . I've never had any trouble evading them.

Agreed, I never had a dragon attack within a walled city untill I made my 3'rd character, and now it happens every 3-4 times I visit a city weather or not I fast travel or walk.

Edit: not that I mind though! I like running the risk of bumpen into something that will destroy me while I explore, it adds realism, I can go for a hike in the woods and bump into a black bear or see a cow moose with her calf in real life and thats what makes my in-game hikes and real life hikes one in the same.( aside from the dragons, wizards, bandits etc....)

That's definitely him! He must have slipped out of the matrix, I presume.

REally bad luck, the best way to avoid a troll is to stay near low ground, don't go high into the mountains, but sometimes you run into something like a bear that can still kill you easily

Skyrim wasn't starting anymore so I reinstalled it. When I loaded a recently played savegame and was just running towards Whiterun a Troll came my way. A Troll!
What does he do here? I'm level 1, he knocked me the f out with one punch so I don't think he belongs there.

your silver sword suggests you are a liar about encountering it at level 1.

Your game must be really confused if it decided to start you off near a silver sword and a unique troll from a certain quest.

And you decided to fight it instead of running away, why? There is usually a troll on the road to Ivarstead, even at level one. On my Wood Elf, I just hit him with Command Animals and moved on. On my Nord, I just run around him.
