Well done.

But I meant Role Playing Games. A genre neither series falls under.

Ohhhh well I don't think I could do that off the top of my head....

I don't really like CL that much, find them a little hard to believe...
Did enjoy my extended conversation with Caeser though, but I enjoyed talking to Mr. House and leaders of the BOS too.

Regarding endings, I rather miss the option to set off a nuke, to end the game. :sadvaultboy:

It would have been EXCELLENT to set off a big one on Hoover Dam, perhaps?

Maybe we will get to do that at the end of the Lonesome Road? :hehe:

I stopped reading after the first paragraph: you wanted to play evil but felt Caesar's Legion was too evil? What would be just evil enough? In FO3 was the Enclave's goal of mass genocide in the Capital Wasteland by poison evil enough? But not too evil because they were equal opportunity employers and didn't take slaves? Evil should be evil for the purposes of playing evil should it not?

that aside, all four endings in FONV come with a caveat. THe NCR are the democratic, egalitarian force for good but are corrupt bureaucrats and te very embodiment of "big guvment" complete with annexations and heavy taxes

the Legion is safe, secure and peaceful but very brutal and take slaves and treat women like dirt

the Yes Man ending kicks everyone out of the Mojave but leaves every single faction to fend for themselves with no unified management

and Mister House also kicks everyone out of the Mojave while leaving New Vegas under the control of a government albeit one that is completely arbitrary and not based on rule of law but force and the idea that "you can do what you want as long as it doesn't cross the Boss"

it makes for an amazing game playing and story telling experience because the player must truly weight the consequences of their actions when choosing one of the four endings because there simply isn't a true "good Guy ending" or in your case "Bad guy ending" either

Evil factions should be functional. They should have something to benefit you when you side with them. They should make being evil fun or lucrative. You roleplay a evil character and you go, I'm evil, yeah, let the massacre begin. But however evil you are, there is zero point in destroying the diversity of the wasteland. How are you going to be evil on people when you sided with people who would destroy every single faction and therefore wipe out every single faction good or bad. Other evil factions yield rewards. They are doing their thing, your doing yours. All the other factions don't impact on other factions existence to the point of destroying everything.
It's like Cachino. He is a evil b**tard but he does'nt want all those people to die. If only for the caps they bring in. Functional evil.

CL would destroy every single faction. They would destroy everything good or bad. They would destroy the oppertunity and chances to be good or evil. They would destroy helping people, drugrunning, drugtaking, gambling, drinking, prostitution, technology, medicine (going by the fact they have 1 single female doctor who learned her trade before she got captured), progress, peace, war, independance, the right to make war on people you want to, sixual equality, even raiding. All that would be left would be a enemy you can't fight back against.
That is why they are beyond evil. They would destroy everything.

They don't benefit anyone at all! Most evil factions benefit or deal with others. By drugdealing or medicine making or arms dealing. They have a clear, logical purpose. Proper plans, even if it is just raiding people like the Powder Gangers do who did not join the Great Khans.
I think you should preserve every faction in the Mojave Wasteland whatever you are. The more people and factions there are, baring CL, the better.

I wanted to blow something up too. It would be cool if you could drop a nuke on some enemies at the end. Or a sub orbital strike. I thought the final battle for Hoover Damn was a bit low key and none explodey. I expected more booms.
Not that I would ever destroy Hoover Dam, that would be pointless.

blah blah snip snip

lol, fair enough, friendo, it's not your fault you can't see in grayscale I suppose. The bottom line here is that...

1) your opinion of what is right and good (both in terms of morality and quality of gameplay) is by far from universal or even correct, thankfully, they're just that: opinions. And we all know opinions are like [rectums] everyone has one and most of them stink

and 2) stemming from the first point above, there are plenty of people here who side with Caesar's Legion on idealogical grounds or otherwise and to put it bluntly we couldn't give a swear-word what you feel about it. You think the Legion are a bunch of raving lunatics that are somehow too evil for even evil's sake, fine. I'm too tired of this to explain here why, but I feel the Legion is the best hope for humanity in the Mojave, and that's fine too.

I swear, Legion threads are by far the number one reason why I both come to these forums and why I leave them

We really can't have a nice discussion about Legion on these forums cause every time we do a bunch of people gotta bash on them and pro-Legion supporters have to defend them, yet again, and the broken record is back on.
Sad really.
I don't go into House threads and [censored] about him. (Though I don't really have much against him.)
And I don't go into NCR threads and [censored] about them. (Despite absolutely hating NCR.)
Don't see why people feel the need to bash Legion every time they're mentioned, going so far to actually create a thread specifically for bashing on them. :sadvaultboy:

Because New Vegas failed to show them as anything else than slavers that dress funny, is still my take on that. They are just an enclave (as in Fallout 3 version) that you can side with.

Honestly when I saw the first look at the Legion before the game came out, it showed a veteran wearing his silver helmet. I though wow what a bunch of losers they will probally be some little crappy gang, boy was I wrong.

I too also hate Cl and prefer NCR, but not this much.

I will defend any side just for the heck of it. If you give pros about the NCR, I will give pros about CL and vica versa.

Having factions being evil for the sake of being evil would be an insult to Fallout. And all that OP said about the Legion just being flat out chaotic evil is so debatable it's not even funny. Not to mention how things like evilness and moral in general being completely arbitrary in the context of Fallout.

The few games I know you can do it with usually have play after end to make it easier to flog DLC to people who had the game since day one.

Dragon Quest = Complete game. All vanilla quests locked off. DLC quests still availiable, but feel disjointed post game.

Mass Effect 2 = Complete game. A few DLC quests, again a bit pointless as the rewards are better used during the campaign and there's very little else to do.

The older games that I'm familiar with (before DLC's, heh)...it was mostly so you could just muck around some more with crafting or killing stuff. Like I said, they didn't alter the game world. Quests & related things weren't available, but pretty much you finished the game and would then be dumped back into the game world with most of the monsters & even random loot chests respawned. You could kill, go back to dungeons, goof off etc...but I tried playing after the end but without any goal for the killing it was really....boring. For me. :)

This, and looking at all the Legion-bashers rally behind him solely because they want to get the hate on, i am truly disappoint.

Are you referring to the game Black and White? I lost a fair chunk of my life to that. Still one of the best games I've ever played and it's really sad that it was never really developed into a series (the F3 fans who were disappointed by FNV have no idea how bad most B&W fans felt about B&W2).

Black and White Mentality, when someone just see greater good (White) or pure evilness (Black), but not ambiguity (Grey)

Neither NCR nor Legion are pure good or evil,

Nor House or Yes Man

This. Those who support Ceaser are usually because they realize that CL is the only hope for the wasteland, i dont see the NCR being able to rebuild society in a timely fashion, years of a bureaucratic mess, nothing gets done. With Ceaser you will get results, and to me this is what matters. Progress at any cost.

Just like NCR supporters aren't paying the NCRs taxes and suffering from a food shortage.

Good point. It does apply to both sides.

But i still feel Legion good sides and NCR bad sides weren't explored enough in the game, it is quite easy to see NCR as good and Legion as evil.

Legion has best final quest, but i can't stand working with those people. Ceasar i can somewhat accept, but Lanius seemed a bit too mustache twirling and puppy eating before and after the final quest. I bet he also wears a top hat when not in his armor :hehe:

Another Legion bashing thread, eh?

Well, it seems I'm here late and people have done my arguing for me so I have very little input. Aside from this:

.Opinions.
