Uncharted 3 A "Masterpiece"

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 3:48 pm

I loved the first two, but taking the everyman Nathan Drake on these wacky adventures isn't something I wanna be doing forever. I'll pick Uncharted 3 up eventually once it's $30 or so; I'm not so sure about Golden Abyss.

I agree on both loving the first two and waiting for a price drop on Uncharted 3... or maybe I'll ask a relative to just give it to me as a gift. Regardless, as well-done as the games are, they're too short for me to consider a release day, full price purchase of Uncharted 3.

If I could do it keyboard + mouse, maybe. Tried the demos of the first two, just couldn't hit anything using a thumbstick. /sigh :sadvaultboy:

Meh. I'm not doubting the game (Played UC2 for a bit at my local gamestop and had a blast), but IGN will say any AAA title is a "Masterpiece".

I agree. The game may very well be fantastic, but that review loses credibility in my eyes due to the "IGN" logo.

As soon as I saw it was an IGN review, I knew that it was going to be perfect scores. Hell, they'd probably give some AAA titles 11s if it would boost their revenue from traffic.

Gamerevolution is the website I go to for reviews. They do the letter based system and don't even have A+ in there because they know no game is perfect.

Granted, if I had a PS3, it would definitely be for this series.

I still need need to play the first two, now that I got a PS3. Certainly looks cool to say the least. Perhaps I'll give the demos a go.

If I'd get a penny every time someone said that I'd have enough money to bribe IGN into giving Skyrim a 10.

Didn't like the first two, don't see a reason I'd like this one :cryvaultboy:

I want this game, but I think I'll wait a bit to play it.

@Jake, you definitely should. They're a blast.

Really IGN a 10, the game is a 9.3-9.6. At least GI was realistic and gave it a 9.5.

Weird... because usually IGN gives pretty hard scores. I rarely ever see them give 10s or 9.5s. I've always seen other gaming critics give better scores to games then IGN. but whatevs man!

Just so you know, the first two are both available in a $30 combo pack, They still sell the separate copies at $30 each, so it could be easy to unknowingly end up paying twice the amount you should for both, but keep an eye out for that pack that comes with both for a total of $30.

Reviewers are gonna have to start redefining how they score a game. It seems that there are more and more "perfect" games coming out. Its bad enough that anything below a 7 is considered garbage nowadays, by the next gen of consoles there will be nothing but 9's-10's

Give money to reviewers and instantly your game gets a 10/10.

Too bad it's PS3 exclusive, or else I'd probably play this series. Seems like the only thing the PS3 is good for is the exclusives - Uncharted, Infamous, Killzone, Resistance, etc.

I also HATE linear games.

Now hold on here. Why? What's wrong with a game being linear if it's good?

Linearity does not, in and of itself, mean a game is bad; and neither does an open sandbox in and of itself make a game good.

Half Life 1 and 2 are the highest rated PC games of all time, and as I recall the highest rated shooters of all time, and are linear.

It's an IGN review. It's meaningless. Also, no, I don't play console games.

Why not? That sounds like nothing more than a limiting blanket rule you've forced on yourself out of some misguided principle... and oh how limiting it truly is. That's just what I'm gathering from the tone of your post and the way you've said it. Instead of "I don't own a PS3" or "I don't care for Uncharted", you just threw out a general, restricting, blunt "I don't play console games" and it just comes across as spiteful... especially with how you've connected it to the first part of your post as though you're directly insinuating that Uncharted 3, or really all console games, aren't good enough to be worth your interest on the basis of them being console games.

Anyway, I don't have the game, yet, and don't want to spend a full $60 on it, myself, so I'll either wait for it to drop or hope someone gets it for me as a gift. However, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDRxuIsGUzs and they've really enticed me into wanting to play it with the whole Iram of the Pillars and Lawrence of Arabia (see signature) connection. I must play it, eventually.

Although I've never actually played and of the Uncharted games, I always thought this was quite a funny review of it....
