If you want more Origins you'll be disappointed. It is restricted to one city, and the surrounding countryside. There are only few dungeon desgins that are re-used troughout the game (and i'm not talking about Bethesda style re-use: set pieces combined differently, but blatant copy-paste). Storyline has no big bad evil in it, just a a story of this Hawke character and his/her family's time in Kirkwall. Combat is faster and flashier than in Origins. The classes are more distinct with less but more powerful skills. Overall, not bad but nothing special either.

I hear you can get it very cheaply in some places now, and you'll get a code for free Mass Effect 2 (PC only) with it too. Also there's a demo on the net that shows how the combat and classes work.

It definitely a downgrade when compared to Origins.The story is just kind of bland and the setting is mediocre. Since you are forced to a one city it reuses a lot of areas which gets boring.The changes in combat is another thing I don't like, with flashier actions and tons of enemies at times it reminds me of Dynasty Warriors but less annoying.Classes are more restricted which both good and bad. One thing I do like better in this game is the followers, I never really got attached to any of them in Origins.Overall if you can find it cheap somewhere buy it because its still pretty fun. 6.5/10

It's about what you'd expect from a Sims game.
More limited than the PC version but still a good step above Sims 2 or "Urbz".

I had a lot of fun RPing with it so I think that if you enjoy Sims games then you'll enjoy the console port too.

If you liked previous Sims games, you will like this one.
Your sims in this game require less taking care off, but you still have to take care of them a lot. It gives you a little more free time to do what you want to do.
There are no loading times if you want to go to the city center, park, cafe, etc. That is a feature I like, everything is connected. You can visit peoples houses as well.
Also, everyone ages together, even if you are not playing on their file. I usually play just one family on a neighborhood.
It wasn't as big of a leap from Sims 1 to Sims 2, but it still has some good improvements.

Now Spore, the creation side of that game is really fun, but it can get boring after a little bit.
The gameplay is just awful though. It is basically unplayable.
I don't really recommend buying Spore. The only good part is creating.

What about Eschalon Books 1&2, anyone played them? They are both 50% off on D2D at the moment. I like the look of the old school graphics and turn based combat.

Agreed. Spore is basically 4 or 5 mediocre at best games stuck together. I thoroughly regretted buying it after a day.

Double agree. Bought it full price on release and it was only 3-4 hours of gameplay and then its pretty much over. Regretted buying it.

However the editor is quite fun and you can create wacky creatures but other than that the game is just pure manure. :sadvaultboy:

Risen and Gothic collection (Gothic I,II,III).

I have heard about Risen being a fairly difficult 3rd-person RPG so it sparked my interest and I found Gothic collection for a mere 20€ (roughly 20$) but i don't know anything about the actual gameseries other than it is usually compared to The Elder Scrolls.

That's too bad. I would love a good game with some creature creation, evolution, cultural/technological advancement.

My dislike for the game is mostly due paying 55€ for it and for it's VERY short length, so if you manage to find it for 5$ or something, then it might be worth it.

How about sims medieval? ive never played a sims game besides the sim city games so is it good?

The retail version is dirt cheap, ranging from $10-15. For that price, I don't think it's that bad. It's not a complex game, but it is easy to pick up and fool around with for a while, and all the assorted editors are fun. I'd get it.

I think i can agree with this one. The as i stated before the game is very very short but it was entertaining till you hit the space age where it becomes this ultra boring space sandbox with very repetive gameplay.


The game is good for 3-4 hours and the editor is fun but in-game there is not much replay value (in my opinion(except the editor)). For anything higher than 5$ i would not buy it.

If you have never played a sims game before, you might like it.

This game has some what of a set story, unlike the other games where it is freeplay.

But it had a few humorous options at times.

I didn't really care for the game, but I know some people who loved it.

Two worlds 2 is a good game, very fun rather long and an excellent magic system. The crafting works well and loot is usually varied enough to keep u pushing thru mobs. The story is generic but the main character approaches it in a tounge in cheek manner and of course the dialogue is strange to say the least. I compare the story aspect to b movie type of game. Some of the dialogue is pretty funny though. Overall its not for everyone but its a worthy time sink that avoids rehashing common fantasy enemy types and environments.

IF your talking about the new game, it is very good. You must grab it if you like fighting games, if you like MK, if you just want a good game for your library.

Oh, and the demo works... even on the highest settings. There's a pause while switching settings and a very slight pause while applying textures, but it runs fine... and is very playable. I'm not too familiar with modern PC gaming, but what does the memory cache option (allows me to set it at intervals of 256 mb from 256 to 4096) do? Also, is the actual game (with more than just the contained, limited in scope environment of the demo) more intensive than the demo? It's not exactly silky smooth, but even Morrowind isn't and my PS3 games typically aren't, so it's very playable, for me, but I was wondering if it's just common for most games to do that. Is it? How can I tell what the framerate for any PC game at any given time? Do many other PC games have demos? I want to try a few out for various games. It would make figuring out whether this PC can handle games or not far easier, for me.

Well, the actual game will have more things on screen, more characters, more things to animate. You should be cool, though, the worst I see is that you'll have to lower your settings should your frame rate ever dip dangerously low. As for memory cache, it's...well, it's space reserved on your HDD for various Spore-related things, like all the assorted creatures, textures, vehicles, planets, and buildings you'll inevitably come across. Everything is generated procedurally, so saving them allows them to be quickly retrieved with less loading.

Not all PC games have free demos, and they're getting increasingly rarer. As for checking your frame rate in a game, you can download FRAPS.
