Colonel, I think the first thing player see in underground Area 51 is the disproportional amount women dress in sixy sleep wear.......

Colonel's Great Blue Speech about sums up what I think would be fun if Area 51 was to become a DLC.

Voted mixed.

I don't want anything that has something to do with aliens, apart from very subtle references (hints at terminals, strange organs/bodyparts in tanks etc.). More over, if the facility is a nigh copypasteversrion of Fallout 3 and NV factorycomplexes or vaults - and/or a linear corridorshooter and a prolonged dungeoncrawl... well, no thanks.

However, if the plotline around it consists of something "human", something that one can relate to, stuff that has more involvement outside of the actual location/facility than inside it, then it'd be ok.

I think most of us can honestly say the game was really lacking. Not so much story wise but mostly for the rest of the game, at least in my opinion. If they make an Area 51 DLC (which I do very much want) it has to be amazing with a very deep story behind it. It cannot and I pray to god it will not be some trash Obsidian throws together in a couple weeks. And one more side note that it most likely won't be the first DLC but hopefully a future one. I'm just going to throw out some random ideas for this DLC. I wouldn't mind fighting aliens or at least having them locked away in those cylinder tube like containers. I don't want something as major as the alien itself to be determined whether it will show up or not in the game if you chose the Wild Wasteland perk or didn't. I would hope that it at least contained one or two special weapons relating to aliens or a pre-war weapon that was the only one created which was going to be used against the Chinese before the bombs fell. Heck it could even be post war, just something unique and nothing from the ordinary sort. I want there to be an amazingly deep story to make up for the lack of depth in most of the locations in NV. I want there to be holotapes, notes, terminal diaries, etc. etc.. I hope you are reading this Obsidian. Don't even bother making this DLC if your not going to put time and effort into making it.

I think most of us can honestly say that you posting the same thing for the third time on here is not cool.

IMO it should have a good amount of loot, Some prototypes of power armor, and weapons. A robot as a companion with his own quest line. A good story, Heck it could even be a base for a faction. O would like it to be very sort of top secret pre-tech stuff. Lots of information on secret projects the gov was working on etc.

I really don't want to see any aliens, Yea it might be cool to have a few in a tube or maybe some little room with some peaces of a UFO bu that's it.

My idea for the quest:

Instead of trying to establish the entire plot behind going to Area 51, I'll only give requirements it should meet.

1. The facility revolves around a quest you receive and it should start as one of No-Bark's crazy rants. The courier starts the quest by talking to No-Bark and questions him about Area 51, leading to a quest to find the facility's location. This could lead you to a military base (Nellis perhaps) where you find it.

2. When you show up at Area 51, it's completely empty. A husk of it's former self.

3. Once you reach the main research area deep within the facility, the Enclave shows up en masse.

4. The last leg of the quest requires the courier to fight through platoons of enemy infantry and bots.

That is all.

Perhaps, like others said, there should be a vague reference to aliens, but nothing more. If the DLC even approaches the sort of plot that Mothership Zeta offered, I won't bother buying it.

Thoughts?

I think it would be cool if we could find out a bit more about the:

Athena power armor
Gameplay article: Van Buren
The following is based on Van Buren and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

An incomplete power armor project pioneered by the Enclave in conjunction with Poseidon Energy. According to initial tests, it had defensive capabilities above and beyond any other infantry armor in use before the apocalypse.

Sounds pretty awesome.

I never really thought but I suppose there are plenty of other company's that could of made pre war tech, Vault tech for one.

There is so much lore to this game! Amazing stuff.

Fine. A DLC revolving around Yucca Mountain. You have to go to a nuclear waste dump.

Wow! Lots of good ideas here. I didn't absolutely hate MSZ, it just didn't have any real story. I'd be up for a good yarn about aliens, cover-ups, weapons, military secrets, etc, as long as it used a LOT of story:

-- Factions and alliances: like different competing alien groups. The ones that seem bad are really good, or are they???, etc. Did a bad group of them foment the war with China, or were they involved in the U.S. or Chinese govt. escalating the war, or would the war have been much worse if the aliens hadn't been trying to stop it?
-- factions among scientists, same thing. A power bid by humans, enclave, Followers, BOS
-- stuff you thought was real is just baloney to cover up something else... extra good since we already know that 1950's style aliens exist in the fallout world.

and then,

-- full use of all kinds of environments: outside in the desert and mountains, in buildings, caves, vaults and spaceships, in new stuff we haven't seen before, like in PL and The Pitt.

If an existence of Area 51 comes about, I like it in this follow:

*NO ALIENS WITHOUT THE WACKY TRAIT!!!!

That say, I can see Area 51 as an area where weapon testing and technology (and maybe an AI or the fact teh government did invented flying saucer) thrive. Heck, they could show the government's bio-weapon means in their experiment (something like DeathClaws or the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Wanamingo) or documentation of the Past Life before the Great War. That say, no vote here for me.

I think this would be more of a chance for the dev's to explain what the aliens wanted in MZ. Like maybe in a series of notes and terminal enteries it shows that the aliens were helping the pre-war government develop thing like energy weapons and advanced power supplies in exchange for somthing.

I think my illustration is needed here

I dislike most games that involve aliens, there are very few exceptions. Mothership Zeta was not one of those exceptions and I can't see any Area 51 DLC being any different.

I will make use of my right to disagree with you.

Lol when i was reading the map and it said Nellis AF base NV it took me a minute to remember that it meant nevada and not New Vegas.

I think most of us can honestly say the game was really lacking.

I think what's honestly lacking is a grasp of reality on the part of the multiple tools I've seen opening their posts with variants of "I speak for everybody else..."- can we stop that nonsense already, get over ourselves, and realize someone might not think the same thing we do? Hell's bells, opnionated as I am I know not everyone agrees with me, why can't a few people around here get it through their heads that the same applies to them too?

And on-topic...what the hell, bring on the Area 51. But let's have a big fat wild goose chase to find out Area 51 was used to keep the tinfoil hat crowd focused on Area 51 while the government did whatever they like somewhere else. No Mothership Zeta underground, no aliens working with the government, in fact no aliens period- just lots of references to them in the open, and if you dig deep enough top-secret information about how they're a red herring to keep people from figuring out what's really going on.

And what's really going on would then be some of the more interesting non-alien research ideas that have been put out here so far- a vault of raging geeks and duelling ideas, advanced FEV research, etc.
