Honestly, how did they make the chicks in FF13 so hot?

They diverted resources to the aspects of games that really matter. :P

I love the PSP-3000

It's light as hell compared to my old PSP and it plays a lot quieter too. I got Dissidia 012 for my first game and tomorrow I'm going to pick up a new memory stick and a couple of other accessories that I need (screen protector, headphone controls, etc but it shouldn't hurt me too much money wise). Hopefully after all is said and done I can get another game if I have enough money left over.

I might look into getting Crisis Core, Phantasy Star Portable 2, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, or Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky

Go download the Type-0 demo right now*, right http://www.square-enix.co.jp/fabula/0/download/! It's amazing. It has a much more mature tone than most other Final Fantasy games, which is pretty cool. It also plays well for a PSP game. The camera can be a pain when running around, but locking onto enemies makes it a non-issue during combat. Combat can be pretty challenging too, which is nice since most games these days tend to be on the easy side.

*Or tomorrow when you get your memory stick.

How big is the file? (part of the reason I did get the PSP tonight is so I could download the demo though I doubt I'll be able to play it easily unless they have a translated version)

I want the 16 gig memory stick (yes I have use for a memory stick that big though I'm not even sure they have it in stock at my gamestop) but I might settle for the 4 gig. At the very least if I'm feeling really cheap I'll end up with the 2 gig.

It's pretty straightforward. Red emblems overhead NPCs offering missions, blue meaning some sort of interaction (shops, area transfers). Once you're in a mission it's easy enough to figure out. Siliconera has a http://www.siliconera.com/2011/08/02/final-fantasy-type-0-demo-detailed/ for every character's controls/attacks too.

Triangle is normal attack
Cross is heal or defend (dodge roll when moving)
Square/Circle seem to be magic or special attacks
D-Pad controls camera
Left Shoulder + D-Pad changes characters and recruits new part members when current ones die
Right Shoulder holds to lock onto enemies or center camera behind you

Bleh :(

Apparently the http://suikosource.com/, so there won't be any new Suikoden anytime soon, if ever.

Suikoden is easily my favorite JRPG series (1, 2 & 5 are brilliant). Konami already disappointed me earlier this summer when they announced 3 HD Collections but no Suikoden HD Collection, and now this.

Read that the other day but I didn't post it to spare you the disappointment. :P I've only ever played Suikoden III and IV though, which I didn't really care for. I probably didn't give III the chance it deserved, but IV just felt sort of bland. I did play through most of it, but eventually quit.

Still a shame though, just one less JRPG series out there now. :(

Well hopefully I'll be happily playing it tomorrow afternoon :)

If it looks as good as I think it does and plays as good too then I'll be more than happy.

Awww man I really liked the series too

I either really svcked at playing Suikoden III or most of those boss fights were made for you to lose. I swear most of the time I just got my ass handed to me despite being some chosen hero or whatever.

I liked the idea behind Suikoden IV though the main things that killed it were the voice acting and running (oh god the running animation ). It really wasn't too bad of a game but it pretty much was just mediocre.

So, after playing a bit of Xenoblade (which is fantastic by the way), I'm a bit curious about Xenosaga. It's one of the only JRPG series I'd never looked into on PS2, though not because I thought it looked bad or anything. How is it? I'm interested in the story in particular, seeing as it was wrapped up a whole three games before they'd planned.

The three games are a mixed bag. I loved the first game, the third game is apparently the best though.

As for the second game, that is the hurdle that is preventing me from playing the third game. They just change so much, I never feel like playing it for any length of time.

I only played the first one and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The combat was interesting. But that was like 6 years ago or so.

I've played half of the first. It was pretty good. It has a decent flow and I dig the combat system.

Those are easily the weakest two in the series, particularly IV, which felt to me like pretty much the most unfinished game I've ever played. Even fans of the series tend not to like IV, so you're not alone there. III is alright, but it suffers from new-generation clunkiness, that period of time when games were transitioning into polygons and camera angles and the like and everyone wanted to rush into the format in order to be up to date, generally leading to loading times, small areas, and other nuisances.

So, after playing a bit of Xenoblade (which is fantastic by the way), I'm a bit curious about Xenosaga. I haven't played Xenoblade, but from what I've heard they're not very similar. The other Xeno games are very thick with the conventions of JRPG's, long cutscenes and heavy dialogue and lots of running around into fairly tedious random battles, etc. If you have limited patience for the gameplay cliches of the genre they're probably not for you, but if you don't, the story is their strongest point. Though I'd recommend traveling further back to Xenogears, which while admittedly probably not easy to get hold of, is generally considered superior to any of the Xenosaga games. They're not quite related in the sense of being sequels/prequels or anything, but Xenogears is based on a later part of the story the Xenosaga games were retelling.

Xenogears has the most [censored]ed up plot I've ever seen in a video game. Not that that's a bad thing. :teehee:

After about 10 hours into Xenoblade, I'm finally starting to realize just how http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAYBui5ghJ0 this game's world is. The game takes place on http://nintendoartwork.com/gallery/xenoblade/xenoblade-giants-artwork-2.jpg, each with a good number of areas and each area being fairly large. I haven't reached a point yet where my backtracking or exploration have been hindered. So far I can go all the way back to where I started, either by foot or teleporting. I don't think I've ever seen anything like in a JRPG before, and it's the first time such a large world has actually been appealing to me. Perhaps because it manages to feel unique despite the amount of space there is to cover. The game also retains the linear narrative of your typical JRPG though, which certainly helps.

This is the kind of JRPG I was hoping to see more of way back when the PlayStation 3 was announced. Five years later and a Wii game put just about every PS3/360 RPG to shame. Lost Odyssey is probably the only one that tops it so far.

If they do as nice of a job with the port as they did with P3P, I'll bite.

I love the idea of having Persona 3/4 on PSP, but in order to justify buying them they would have to go down pretty far in price since I already have them on PS2. Unfortunately, that's probably never going to happen.

I might give FFXII another go

I personally thought it was one of the weaker Final Fantasy games in terms of storyline and characters. The characters seemed rather flat and there really never seemed to be any development for any of them.

I didn't think too highly of the battle system either and it doesn't really flesh out until the end game when you can make really distinctive character classes.

Still I love the setting, the political factions, and the lore behind the story.

Also got some games for PSP

FF Tactics The War of the Lions
Crisis Core
Dissidia 012
Blazing Souls Accelate
The 3rd Birthday

Haven't gotten around to really playing Crisis Core, The War of the Lions (though I went through the tutorial), or Blazing Souls Accelate.

Dissidia 012 is mostly what I've been playing thus far and I'm really enjoying the battles.

I don't really like Vaan. In order to really like an RPG story, I need to like the protagonist.

To be honest though, I would be all over FFXII if it had the FFX battle system.

I don't particularly have a problem with Vaan as a character but he's just kind of...out of place.

He really doesn't have [censored] to do with the story

Spoiler
other than his brother being killed by imitation Basch

I wasn't particularly impressed with FFX's battle system either. It's just too simple and doesn't have a whole lot of depth to it compared to some of the other battle systems.

Ack. Why did I click the spoiler tag...my fault. I don't mind all that much anyways.

I guess I just liked the simplicity. Plus, the battle theme was awesome.

Man I need to finish FFX. There's a lot of RPGs I need to finish. I have a bad habit of taking year long breaks 3/4 of the way through.
