Unofficial Skyrim DLC Discussion - Thread #8

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:44 pm

GOOD NEWS! (Somewhat, for those who haven't heard it yet).

The second post at http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1367158-unofficial-dlc-discussion-possible-spoilers-thread-6/ about the DLC got me intrigued. An user named Raestloz had uncovered some details about the DLC by checking the Patch 1.5.26 update files. Back in april 16, before the "Soon" dishonored picture dissipated the attention about Skyrim DLC. Something about crossbows and Snow Elves. This made me really curious and I used an utility (strings.exe) to scan the Patch 1.5.26 update file for valid strings. This revealed the following things (Notice the DLC01 prefix. Pretty much confirmed it's about the DLC!):

Snow elf stuff:
Animations\DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceDialogueA.HKXAnimations\DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceDialogueB.HKXAnimations\DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceDialogueC.HKXAnimations\DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceDialogueD.HKXAnimations\DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceDialogueE.HKXAnimations\DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceFireBall.HKXAnimations\DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceSitIdle.HKXAnimations\DLC01\SnowElfPrinceAscensionBurning.HKX

Vampire feeding stuff:
Animations\DLC01\IdleMesmerizes.hkxAnimations\DLC01\Paired_VampFeedBack.hkxAnimations\DLC01\Paired_VampFeedFront.hkx

Crossbows:
crossbow_direction_behavior.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_1stP_Run.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_1stP_Walk.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_Aim.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_Equip.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_IdleDrawn.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_IdleHeld.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_Release.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunBackward.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunBackwardLeft.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunBackwardRight.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunForward.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunForwardLeft.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunForwardRight.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunLeft.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_RunRight.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkBackward.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkBackwardLeft.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkBackwardRight.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkForward.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkForwardLeft.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkForwardRight.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkLeft.hkxAnimations\CrossBow_WalkRight.hkx

No Idea what 'RF' is.
Animations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_End.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_EndL.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_Idle.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_IdleL.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_LToR.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_RToL.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_Start.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_StartL.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_Talk01.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Guarded_Talk02.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_GuardedToOpen.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Open_End.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Open_Idle.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Open_Start.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Open_Talk01.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Open_Talk02.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Open_Talk03.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Open_Talk04.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_OpenToGuarded.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Playful_End.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Playful_Idle.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Playful_Start.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Playful_Talk01.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Playful_Talk02.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_PlayfulToSerious.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Serious_End.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Serious_Idle.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Serious_Start.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Serious_Talk01.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Serious_Talk02.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_SeriousToPlayful.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Shock01.hkxAnimations\DLC01\RF_Shock02.hkx

Basically, the DLC will at least have:
 • Snow elves
 • Snow Elf Prince
 • Crossbows
 • New vampire feeding animations
 • Something prefixed 'RF'.
What do you think?

Nice one! Everybody seems to ignore this lol which is pretty much solid info and continue with speculation lmao

Yeah, kinda funny how there's at least 2-3 unrelated posts after this miniature atom bomb of a post. This is the first time I'm seeing something that's actually solid evidence (why else would bethesda silently add it in Skyrim's data files anyway?). How 'bout speculating along these lines: DLC will probably be called Dawnguard, it'll have Snow Elves and a Snow Elf Prince, adds crossbows and also probably the new vampire feeding animations we saw in the GameJam. It'd be fun to try to form a story that can fit a DLC with these elements :P

Yeah, but ever since the red mountain erupted, Solstheim could also be affected and maybe now it's in some kind of post-apocalyptic condition. Those two gates to Morrowind in Skyrim kind of make sense if you imagine we're going to Solstheim again.

The DLC will contain crossbows, snow elves, a certain snow elf prince, and new vampire animations and content. Check the last pages of the DLC discussion thread for details, it's real and lifted straight from Skyrim's update files, so I guess it's pretty much official.

Here's the http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/195485886190850048 to that tweet. Made about 1 hour ago.

Has anyone poked around the CK to see if there were any hints of DLC? The only 'clues' we have are the two morrowind gates (and it could be argued that they're there just for immersion, nothing else) and the Windhelm Arena stuff (which is probably just cut content due to the 11/11/11 deadline).

Someone did. See sig.

Would it be possible that "RF" stands for "Rise of the Falmers"? (Or "Revolution of the Forsworn" but this one seems less likely, for it is unrelated to everything else...)

Watch next Friday bethesda releases more info on dishonored.

If actually relevant to the DLC, these would seem to be animation files for a specific NPC "R.F." rather than a quest or DLC title.

Since the animation files seem so much about reactions, I'm guessing that this "R.F" NPC might very well be a companion that joins you in a quest.

Hmm, maybe. But check out the transition animations:

guarded <-> open
serious <-> playful

And guarded is the only one with RToL (right to left) and LToR (left to right) animations. What do you think that represents?

That's a good guess. Seems very 'DLC-like' of bethesda to include a companion that travels with you during your quest in Dawnguard.

"Riekling Follower" then, maybe? Seems far-fetched, but why not?

Or, even more far-fetched : Roscrean Falmer?

Hmm these are my thoughts on R.F.

I don't know skyrims animation structure so someone please tell me if it is common for an npc to have these types of anims/naming structure.

R.F. seems like a very strange thing to name an NPC... unless the name is something quite long and annoying to type in.

Maybe RF is a non-human/mer/beast NPC

Im thinking something along the lines of the frost giant in solstheim

We know that the Ice Tribes, which might be closely related to the Falmers, have once attacked Dawnstar. Mayby some hidden order called Dawnguard has been constituted to prevent them from trying again and still exerts some occult vigilance?

Hey that's actually a pretty good guess!

My money is on this until proof otherwise. Having a Riekling Follower would be... interesting. The emotions seem to fit with a funny little goblin creature.

Indeed, it seems nice and could lead to fancy quest, but don't lose sight that it remains highly hypothetic and speculative... ^^

But anyways, a Riekling follower would be a very nice feature in a DLC.

Ah but speculation is so fun!

Until it turns out you have been speculating about the wrong game... that better not happen again. :stare:

Well, datamined info. But at least it is something that is actually worth speculating over.

If it does indeed have to do with Rieklings... that gives a very strong push towards the solstheim theory.

I would be exceptionally happy with this because you just can't give us solstheim without throwing werewolf players some goodies.

On the other hand, it does kinda dissapoint that It wouldn't be Thalmor DLC.
