Updates for Brink patch

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:38 am

Ok, so now its four five six seven zero (sort of, see last post) days since we heard any news from SD. I am curious as to what has be found to be the problem with the game coding. Has anything been found, or are the programers still searching thru the thousands of lines of code to figure out whats gone wrong? Will we be getting any updates, has a patch been submited to MS for their stage of testing. Does the patch release date coincide with the new DLC? Will there be many patches, for example we will fix the LAG, then move on to AI, ect. We have no information what so ever on what is going on... and people are getting more and more fustrated.

SD/Bethesda, may I make a sugestion.... Please keep us updated. How about on Monday morning, every Monday morning, give us an quick update as to what progress has been/not done. Just to apease the general group. I love Brink and want to see this succeed, but fear that the XBox community will eventually give up and Brink will only be found in the cheap/used bin.

PLEASE, PLEASE.... Public relations now adays is a must and with everyone getting information quickly from every other source, don't get killed by trying to sweep these issues under the rug.

We have recieved an update: http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/0...te-on-updates/
THANK YOU!!!

Please bump if you support getting updates,

Please do not bump a thread unless it has been idle for at least twenty four hours. People are certainly welcome to respond to a thread with something constructive, but straight bumping is spammy.

Bethesda generally does not release ETAs on patches. I suspect they figure people will be more upset by a missed date or delay than not having something specific to begin with. Bethesda will sometimes say that a patch is being worked on but if they don't have anything new to add it's uncommon for them to reiterate this - if Bethesda says a patch is being worked on the next update may very well be announcing its release.

(Note I am not a Bethesda employee, just a volunteer helper here on the forums, and moderators are not privy to details that haven't been released to the public.)

Agreed, and understood. All I was asking for was an update on how things are going not a release date, and how will it be patched.... If the programmers are stumped and it looks like we wont be getting a fix, we would just like to know. Even just a "working on it", "looks good", or "crap we're not getting anywhere soon" is all.

Short/long of it all.... I don't wanna see Brink die...

I would like to be able to go back to my community and tell them something is coming, rather than a vague nothingness that is where it seems now.

It has annoyed me that a game was released in this state, although it's common to have lag and server issues, I have never experienced anything as bad as Brink.
What's really annoying though is when I feel my custom is being treated with contempt, by not telling us a thing, that's how it feels.

I want to keep this game and have some of my community do the same, but if nothing is announced many of them will be trading this in by the weekend. I will follow and I imagine the amount of people actually playing will be decimated.

I assume someone with authority actually reads this, start treating us with a bit of respect and say something...please.

Thank you! the texture thingy haven′t bothered me that much since i don′t play it for graphics ;) but the lag is so disturbing! i′ve had to play against bots the last few days ,which sometimes can be dumb but otherwise very challenging, i actually think real players are easier than the AI (most of the time) so please fix the lag! :)
And a weekly update on whats going on in patching and updates ( as other developers have ) would be great! I freaking love this game, it′s like tf2 on steroids :) But the lag is really killing it and i don′t want to give up on it :(

Please, please try to fix the voice glitch. It's the second main thing turning me off this game. I'm no programmer, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to fix, and It's really annoying.
That and the lag. I've had no problem with textures, but that may be a problem for people too.
But it would be great if that could be fixed. I would love the game even more.

"Theres also a REALLY annoying voice glitch.
My characters voices keep changing, mostly to the Jamaican one, but sometimes to the American ones.
It happens to all characters when I play with them, No matter what voice I originally selected for them. Not game-breaking, but a real put-off."

Quoted myself from some of the other posts I made on this forum. Hopefully it can be fixed soon.

The graphical problems are quite the letdown for me, especially since I http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1191246-cant-play-with-humans/, so it tends to bother me more. Hope eventually the problems get fixed though.

And another day goes by, tomorrow it will have been a week since the *cough* temporary fix was used...the one that robbed us of the actual game we payed for and still doesn't work.

I know, I'm baffled by them asking for proof. It's as if they never tried it on the xbox 360. Every person I've seen play it on the 360 has the same problems... how could they STILL not see what's going on with it?

:nope: I am also sad, I keep seeing people who owned Brink, now playing La Noir because of the trade in value, and the lack being able to actually play. This game is dying....

I just had 2 friends trade theirs in, as well as being one of the first of my friends. The trade in value is decreasing rapidly after Friday
I have been told by gamestore employees it will drop from $23 to $18
Plus not to mention the extra trade in bonus when trading towards LA Noire.

But if they get this game fixed I'd consider rebuying, it would have to be a big fix tho

If they're asking for proof, then it probably means that the conversion for the Xbox had been sourced out to an outside company. This is probably why there's very little communication about a patch/update. They don't know what's wrong because they didn't code it and they need proof to show the company that did. I really don't care now because I'm trading it in before the value drops to $5. Sorry SD/Bethesda, you've lost a customer for life.

I won't turn away from Bethesda, especially with Skyrim coming up! However, Splash Damage has lost all credibility in my book.

I might be one of those soon. I haven't even touched Brink in 4 days after spending 45 minutes getting two freinds on my team just to have the match lag out. And L.A. Noir is looking better and better.

I agree. Bethesda's development team (Oblivion and Fallout 3) is amazing, but their publishing team (Brink and Fallout: New Vegas) needs to be let go.

Hey guys,

I know many of you are frustrated with performance and lag issues in the 360 version, but there's no need to come on here and intimate that SD has denied that there's any problem or that they are "demanding proof" from the players. I know there's a dedicated contingent of you that just want to find reasons to be angry on this forum, but it's not fair to people who lurk here to act as if SD is just denying that there's a problem. From what I gather, they're very much aware of the issues.

My game ran good today too, didn't freeze, but then I started getting corrupted add on pack messages again and disc read errors again. The thing about L.A. Noire is that it's only a 1 player game so I don't know why people even mention it here.

I guess you aren't active on Splash damage forums. Hate to burst your bubble, but THEY ARE. They have even asked people to bring out their cameras and take photos of their tvs. Be informed, I am only posting this here, so the publisher knows how the game developer is treating the issue.

:celebration: Bethesda update and I quote:
"Read below for news and info on issues being reported on Brink on Xbox 360. If you have more questions regarding

For more support on Brink, visit support.gamesas.com

I’m experiencing network problems / lag during multiplayer matches
Some players have reported instances of latency problems that have prevented them from playing and enjoying the game as expected. We have since released an update for both the 360 and PS3 versions of Brink which serves as a temporary fix for those experiencing networking issues.

This update was a configuration change that altered the number of human players when matchmaking for “Campaign” and most “Freeplay” modes to a maximum of four, with the remaining spots being populated by bots. This allows those connecting to and hosting multiplayer matches * particularly those with lower upstream bandwidth * to more reliably find and connect to quality matches via the matchmaking process, resulting in less lag and more fun. This is a temporary measure while we continue to produce, test, and certify a major game update to improve the overall online experience.

For players who haven’t experienced lag, we still support full 8v8 on all maps: via the newly created “Big Teams” option in Freeplay Mode, and through custom settings in Private matches.
Until the next game update is released, here’s what you can do to improve your multiplayer experience should you still encounter problems:

Check your opponent’s network connection / ping:

Players with very low bandwidth connections can have a negative impact on the overall network performance of the game.

You are able to view other player’s connection quality easily by viewing the scoreboard and determining if this is the likely cause.

To view other player’s connection quality, press Start during a match and select the Scoreboard option to display all other players

Other Human player bandwidth values are shown on the right hand side of their name as a traffic light value. Anyone that is showing orange or red means they have a bad connection and could potentially be causing the match to become disrupted...

Note: You can also view the opposing team scoreboard since the problem may be with a player on the opposite team. To do this press R1 for PS3 or RB for XBOX 360 while on the scoreboard

Should you see more players showing RED than GREEN on their status, you should exit this game, return to the main menu and attempt to join another game on a new connection.

The matchmaking system will then attempt to place you in a more suitable game

We continue to make progress with improving the network performance of Brink, and we will be soon releasing an additional update that addresses this.

My German Version of Brink frequently ‘freezes’ or ‘locks-up’ during gameplay
Some players are reporting that Brink frequently freezes during gameplay, and this appears to only affect the German version of the game. We’ve identified the underlying issue and hope to release an update very soon that fixes this.

In the meantime, you can use the following workaround to prevent this issue from happening:

Turn the “Dialogue Volume” down completely. You can do this from the main menu or by pressing Start during a match and selecting:

Optionen > Audio > Lautst?rke der Dialoge

Move the dialogue volume slider all the way to the left

Please note that this is a temporary solution until we release the fix we’re currently working on. We very much appreciate your patience with this matter. "

:) Thank you Bethesda, but there is more to address... remember to check the forums, many threads adress a lot of issues not mentioned here.... :(
