I urge you to not purchase another Bethesda game

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 11:05 am

Hmmm...despite my occaisional XP dual core bugs, I'm still having more fun with this game than I have with any other I've played in months. TW2 was awesome, but I must admit I've had more 'wow' and laugh out loud surprises with this game than I did with Witcher 2. I've enjoyed Bethesda's games for a long time; going to take more than this to shake me loose.

I'm on ps3 and I haven't experienced any major bugs in Skyrim. It's been great and I will gladly buy another Bethesda game.

Well as much as I disagree with the sentiment of the OP, in his defense he did say if we are enjoying the game and have no problems to disregard this post.

May I ask what you disagree with?

I just honestly believe that the only way to show a developer that they cannot get away with treating large amounts of fans this way is to show a lack of interest in their products

How long have you been playing? The slowdowns inevitably occur at certain thresholds.

No thanks. I've enjoyed Skyrim, as well as every other Bethesda game I've purchased.

I am very happy with comments like this if you are fine with your purchases

Although I am frustrated with nearly all there games at release week and several weeks maybe even months later because they have so much unfinished. I.E Quest related problems, graphical glitches that can become very annoying. Although you are right, many times these are never left completed games as they should be. The modding community is what sales me the games. I will never purchase on a console ever because I know they are always a unfinished game. I just won't ever pre-order another Bethesda game. It will save me the hassle of spending hours to find fixes and tweaks every release over some pre school bugs they a .... well "pre-schooler" could tell was wrong or shouldn't be there. It is pretty obvious they are very lack luster in testing their games if at all. I also really could care less about a TESVI because of the way Skyrim went. TES is pretty much done. It is very dubbed down, and simplified amongst many other things.

Buy it for PC instead, mods will fix all the flaws thanks to Bethesda allowing modding.

I haven't had any glitches or bugs that cause any real issues. Probably the worst thing to happen to me was when the ground around the smith in Whiterun disappeared. But all I needed to do was to exit and then re-enter the area, and it was fine. I feel sorry for you guys that have to suffer though any gamebreaking bugs. My experience with Skyrim thus far has been spectacular and this is probably my favourite game of all time. Until TES VI comes out :P

I sure as hell won't be, I lost my lvl 40 save because of a stupid glitch.

You know I was probably 20-30 hours into "Morrowind" when I realised that I could no longer progress any further in House Telvanni because really early on I met a wizard with glowing robes.

He explained to me that in House Telvanni if you attacked someone and took their stuff it was your right to do so because you were strong enough to be able to do so.

So I attacked him, killed him and took his magic robes.

Only later did I learn that to become a Mouth of House Telvanni I had to obtain the sanction of Balados... the very mage that I had killed all those hours before.

Now back in "Morrowind" if you had a Quest Critical character they could be killed and your quest was knacked.

It was annoying but I played my way back to where I was and though it was tedious at times I was glad I did for overall the whole experience was incredibly rewarding.

It's an awful bug to be hit with but I'd encourage you not to pack in your time in "Skyrim".

The rewards will far outweigh the frustration of what happened here and hopefully they will have your version patches so you don't get hit with this again.

I encourage you to delete your forum account.

I encourage you to be less ignorant and at least fake empathy for people with faulty products

Not really. I find it rediculous spending my hard earned cash on something that doesn't work.

Sorry the game didn't live up to my expectations, I was just expecting a game that didnt lag witthin 15 mins and crash at 30
I apologize, that was a bit of an outburst on my part and you're already suffering issues with the game. If PS3 bugs are that bad then Bethesda should do something about it asap. I have faith that they will fix these issues if possible though, especially if people keep documenting them. Your request just seemed unreasonable in my context, having had no issues myself and with Bethesda already having established themselves as my favorite gaming company.

But I'm sure I would hold similar sentiments had the same happened to me.

I'm sorry that 60 dollars put such a huge hole in your life that you want to boycott an entire company.

I am confident they will fix it, personally.

Also, by the time the next bethesda game comes out we will be in next gen. Whether that means new problems will arrise or old problems will be fixed remains to be determined.

I'm definitely not buying another Bethesda game on ps3. I'm only gonna play Skyrim till I get platinum, and I only need 2 more trophies to get it so Skyrim will be gathering dust after next week. Its ridiculous that Bethesda didnt test the game on ps3.

So the lag is so bad and bugs are so gamebreaking that you just HAVE to get platinum out of it? It's not much of a principle you are standing on if you are still willing to play a considerable portion of the game, yet complain that you can't stand it at the same time.

The thing is, Bethesda isn't making another game on the PS3, or this console generation. Skyrim itself was possible going to be on the next consoles if I remember correctly. I suspect we'll get a completely new engine with the new consoles, and hopefully that will be the end of the game file size bug.

After reading several stories and threads, it's safe to say that the large bugs will not be fixed.

For ps3 in particular, news from the fallout developers indicate the crippling lag cannot be fixed. (link is somewhere in ps3 section)

So how do we stop developers from selling us broken games? Don't purchase their products.
If you are unhappy with skyrim due to technical issues then don't purchase future games. How else will they know they have pushed their luck?

I urge you to not blindly follow Bethesda and kid yourself into thinking they will be fixing these issues or learning from mistakes.
If you are happy with this product, then disregard this post, but those tired of broken games: stand up for yourself.

EDIT: I am emphasising the fact that I believe if you are truly happy with the product then I am happy that you are.

Please take the time to fully understand the post and please provide mature comments.

Please also understand that many a customer are having issues that do not show a quality-tested game which is what this thread is about.
If you can't link to the these so-called claims you are making then you are in effect just making stuff up. (Oh... the link is "somewhere in the PS3 section"). Bethesda would be the final word on what they will be fixing, not random forum threads.

"After reading several stories and threads it's safe to say..." really? That's your thesis? Look, I am genuinely Sorry your PS3 version is some lag having issues, Bethesda has acknowledged this - perhaps you missed the official blog update, in your perusal of random threads and stories. And no, not every PS3 player was thus affected. I understand you are frustrated and you are perfectly entitled to show your dislike in the future with your wallet. But I am locking this thread for being unproductive - especially when you start calling members who question you ignorant.

I seem to be the only person playing on PS3 that hasn't had any problems whatsoever.
You aren't. But the people that are having issues are, logically, vocal about it. The ones that aren't are generally not on any forum complaining that their game works. Just the nature of things. :)
