Vampire Hunter benefits?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:03 pm

So at E3, the focus was on vampires. I get it: it's very flashy and a lot of players will at least try it out. I'm actually genuinely happy for you vampire players, even considering the fact I won't ever play one.

So what about us Dawnguard? What rewards can we expect?

- Armored Trolls: Equivalent to gargoyles and hounds I suppose

- Auriel's Bow: Not faction only, but it's an Aedric artifact and will likely serve us well, IF we level archery. if not, get a follower whos a marksman?

- Crossbows: I doubt this is faction only

- Dragonbone Weapons: Is this faction only though?

- Faction recruitment?: This is speculation, but I think you can recruit for the Dawnguard. That probably means you can have more than one follower at a time when you hunt vampires. Nifty eh?

- Holy Magic: Again, speculation, but Dawnguard is said to have new spells.

Thoughts?/Input?

I also forgot Fort Dawnguard too, looks like a nice home

I'd imagine that Dragonbone weapons would simply be an addition to the smithing tree. I can't see how either the Dawnguard or the vampires relate to the dragons.

My guess would be that the Dawnguard would get plenty of enchanted equipment, specifically designed to fend off undead. Hmmm... I wonder if they have a blade that casts magelight and does extra damage to vampires... that'd look pretty awesome. ^^

Or there may be the option to be taught how to smith mithril and/or silver weapons that the vampires do not get?

I can imagine the Dawnguard gaining the ability to smith silver weapons and possibly even silver armour which would resist damage done by the undead. If we can't get silver-tipped bolts for the crossbows I might just cry.

Either way, I'd be surprised to see dragon bone weapons as a Dawnguard/vampire specific ability.

Maybe the Dawnguard give you some kind of power in an initiation ritual that makes you immune to disease? The vampire disease included?

Benefits?

Ummm... a relatively quick death for daring to face off against the mighty Volikhar.

That would be beneficial, right?

New holy and light damage spells would be the coolest benefit to me. Plus, if we can craft silver tipped arrows and crossbow bolts fired from Auriel's Bow or a Dawnguard crossbow, ranged will be quite powerful as well.

The biggest benefit of joining the Dawnguard?
Removing a blight and scourge from the face of existence so normal people can sleep soundly.

i doubt the dawnguards weapons and armor will be exclusive to them as you could probably just loot it off their bodies as a vampire. but seeing as vampire lords get new spells hopefully theres some new tomes that can only be bought in dawnguards castle

For Dawnguard you can pretend to be Van Helsing with automatic crossbow and a nice hat.

Well I'm pretty excited for the recruiting option. And killing these abominal creatures is a reward on it's own. (feels like the underdog position so that's what I choose)

Let's pray to the nine divines that there will be some kind of trenchcoat and hat like that.

Yeah, I would just like for melee to get a bonus as well. After all, it's very bold for a hunter to engage werewolves/vampires in close quarters

Chrysamere please!

Yeah, I wonder about Chrysameres' origins though. Is it an Aedric artifact? Who made it?

This comment just made my day

But yeah, I personally like the new Dawnguard armor, it looks awesome. Hopefully it's level scaled So it can atleast almost be useful to a high level. The crossbow doesn't matter to me, but the fact that I'm killing vampires is good enough for me. And personally, I like the sun, or atleast the giant hole to Aetherius in the sky.

But who was the original Paladin? Eleidon?

Who made the sword? An Aedra? Which one?
