Vampire Lords will use magic only?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:43 pm

So some people claim that if you play as Vamp Lord you will be limited to magic only.I don't if that's true but i dont think i've seen any footage of close combat so far. This kinda worries me,no weapons and not even fists/claws to defend yourself?!
I really have no idea how this whole thing will work gameplay wise but i would want at least fists for combat!
I hope i'am wrong about the magic only limitation :ermm:

Well some are concerned it might be 3rd person only, if it is, that might fuel more concern it might be magic only.

It's unknown if that form uses magic only, but I would think it would allow melee since magic pools can only be used so much at a time.

But magic is a vampire's greatest weapon, so it kind of makes sense. I mean look at Dracula in Castlevania, how often does he use melee? Even in their beast form, they are mostly jumping around or spitting fireballs.

If the new spells are cool then they could be just as brutal as using melee. I think I saw an instance where they grabbed someone using energy/gravity, and they can probably crush them/throw them without needing to physically touch them.

but maybe they can claw.

I don't know, if werewolf is warrior, and vampire is thief, then it would only make sense for vampire lords to be mages.

wait a minute. how are vampires compared to thieves? Well okay they can use stealth.... and they steal blood. Um....... but still different. xD

if clawing isn't in this, it's probably because of how the core system uses non-fatal punches for melee attacks, so it might be tricky to override that, even when dealing with a new form like Vampire Lord / Lady. It still uses the Skyrim combat framework.

Well, Ive yet to be a vampire in the main skyrim game, but that was my impression, they sneak in the shadows, at night, and then raid peoples houses to steal blood. Still, they overroad the non fatal punches for lycans, why not vamp lords

Yeah, but to focus on magic only?...It's not like "magic fits the whole vampire lord thing so we limit people to magic"...I mean seriously,i wouldn't want to play this thing unless it gives you some advantages and some pretty cool spells to compensate the lack of close combat...Werewolves on the other hand are different. :ermm:
Claws/fists are minimum to have in my opinion.Every humanoid creature has at least claws or fists for defense.
I think vamps fit more into the stealth type of characters with a big chunk of magic in it.

We haven't seen enough to be sure yet. Personally I feel it's no great loss if that is the case though - magic needs more love than stealth or combat right now.

Well it's not about what or who needs more love or what would be a greater loss.I'am talking about possible weapons that you will have at your disposal as vamp lord. They can have new spells for mages and have some kind of close combat weapon for vamps at the same time.Maybe we'll be able to attack with those chicken wings and impale bandits.

I think people shouldn't worry about the Vampire Lord being only 3rd person view because of course in the trailer they are only going to show you it in 3rd person, how else would you get to see what it looks like?

I agree, a melee option would be great... nothing horrendously OP, but a good amount of damage with some cool finishers.

What if you do not have that much magicka? That kind of puts you at a disadvantage.

Since the werewolf form offers more health and stamina. Maybe the Vampire lord will do something similar for magic. Or it could have its own separate pool of magic that has nothing to do with your human form

Are vampire lords just a transformation? Can you do it on the fly or do you have to go that ritual ground? I can't see them being as bad as werewolves so whatever.

They seem to be very muscular so I don't think it makes sense to have them only be mages.

Also, they really shouldn't be mages if they're 3rd person only. Magic isn't exactly easy to aim in third person.

Here's hoping for a first person mode and more combat options.

I think most people geting something wrong here..it's not about giving/making a vamp like a werewolf close combat machine...It's about having at least some kind of weapon other than magic while in this vamp lord form.
