Vampire town invasions

with all the people complaining about their towns being slaughtered, do you think Bethesda may take them out of the game?
I for one hope not, I love the fact they added, random town attacks from the vamps, it's fun and adds incentive to actually sleep at night if you wish to stop them, which could aid in roleplaying like.... but seriously with everyone moaning do you think they'll take them out....?

As you said it adds a sorta realistic effect.

The thin-blood starved Vampires (Vampires not in the Volkihar clan are called thin-bloods) are out on the prowl at night and are looking for meals, sleep at night and you won't have to worry about NPCs dying.

My character is a Volkihar Vampire so instead of Vampires I have Dawnguard that randomly attack me in towns..towns people come to my aid and almost end up dying, have to kill them quick, it normally happens at night only once during the day when I fast traveled when it was night to day time Riften.

I'm a VL but I've not been doing any DG since becoming one, been grinding the perk tree for the VL, but my white run was attacked the 1st time installing and not since like.... When the orc offered me a spot in the DG two trio's came in one after the other, slaughtered them withing a minute, I don;t get what the complaining is for really, it's fiun....

No. If anything, they'll just be scaled down... which is very justifiable. Three vampires taking on a whole town, yeah they'll probably kill a fair number of people. But being immortal doesn't make you invincible, and being a vampire doesn't mean you're a kamikaze, either.

Blood drain (right hand's power) is used to "feed" to increase the perk tree, you have to kill random wild life in the woods and enemies with it, they have to be LIVING doesn't work on dead things since dead blood is poisonous to vampires, though you can switch to melee (click in left stick) and when they are low HP use a power attack Hold L or R trigger and your VL will charge a attack its a random chance if it works but its cool when it happens, your character like wraps his bone wings around the enemy holding them still when he bites them..that also gives Vampire Lord perk tree XP.

In normal form when you don't feed for a day you get Vampire's seduction, cast it on villagers/enemy humanoid living NPCs and you can feed on them even if they are awake by attempting to talk to them..an option should appear (Illusion magic perks cause it to work on higher level enemies my volkihar vampire character is level 81 and it works on all enemies except Maven black-briar and dragons, without the perks from what I hear it stops working on enemies higher than level 15..)

I recommend sneaking when you're about to feed on an awake NPC unless they are bandits or such, if they are a villager they report your crime if you sneak from the front and the sneak eye is open and feed on them.

Vampire seduction feeding doesn't level up the VL perk tree.

Yeah im not accepting the LIKING of the vampire attacks.

They begin after level 10 and as such players arent ready to deal with the scope of Dawnguard just yet.

Turn em off or turn em down.

I made a new character because I didn't want to have dead npcs on my higher level and there was a master vampire attack at level 8, so they don't just start at 10.

was level 9 and vampires attacked whiterun and killed adrianne Avenicci, and later ulfberth war-bear (i was WTF, two main vendors from the city ? , really ?) .

at least make them attack only the player or guards.

everyone in my Whiterun is dead. Carlotta from the fruit stand, Belethor, Jon and Idolaf Battle-Born, Adrianne Avenicci, War-Bear, and one other person so to me Whiterun is ruined. Ive never even SEEN the vampires in town and dont have this in any other town, yet everyone is a pile of ashes in Whiterun, its depresing

I got attacked once at night in Whiterun. Ulfberth War-Bear came out and tried to bring peace and paid the ultimate price. I was like, really? That just happened! No more Warmaiden's... sniff. I think leave it as-is, the suspense is great.

Im using a thief right now that has no perks in armor and playing on master and i have no problem dispersing the very few attacks there are . If they remove them, there will be a tidal wave of whining about the towns being too safe again, this is what everyone asked for, for the towns to be less safe, and now everyone is whining about it, its [censored] ridiculous. Also people, if you fast travel to locations OUTSIDE THE TOWNS, the chances of the attacks in town will be much less likely. They will not remove this because it is a feature of the DLC, and it would be like removing dragon attacks from towns. not gonna happen ever.

I had no problem fending off master vampires at level 7, so seriously, just get better.

It has nothing to do with challenge or making things more exciting to the foamy mouthed COD set.

Its more like those early Radiant tests before Oblivion released where an NPC would kill another over the ownership of a rake because they both had the rake leaves instruction at the same time.

Yes its THAT BAD!

Personally ive moved Dawnguard to a flash drive and gone back to pre-add on'ed Skyrim till it becomes vaguely playable again.

Id rather experience the Mass Effect 3 ending than play play that broken, game-breaking, underthought mess that is Dawnguard now!

Urgh...its not wether YOU have the problem...its wether the NPCs do!

Seriously visiting a town is like everyones "Escort Mission" nightmare from every other game.

What? Did you even read what I wrote lol. I said the attacks started at level 8 and not 10 like the other poster said. I didn't say anything about difficulty only when it started for me. I killed that vamp quite quickly actually, which isn't even the point anyway because it's how fast they kill npcs. That vamp was attacking guard so I was okay in that instance.

I was ammused the first few times but once a city is a ghost town with only a few guards with 1-2 immortal NPC's and all vendors dead then yes, in my book they are slightly overdone and need way toned down. Totally breaks any kind of immersion going into an empty town with all quest givers dead, its quite [censored] .

What difficulty? But yeah, I've faced harder...4 trolls at lvl 15 by yourself, and your a stealth/magic character(no summons or strong fire magic).

I've noticed that I can fast travel to a city, it's past midnight and have townsfolk whom are normally in their houses just walking around town. If the NPC's were in their correct places at the right times, we wouldn't be having so many problems. I think there is a glitch somewhere with the time and loading of NPC's. I haven't had much problems as of yet, but so far I've lost a vendor in Winterhold. Annoying since that was the only general goods vendor there.

Its time related alright as once I left the bannered mare after dinner with Ysolda only to see down near the gate a side view of frostbite spells and guards running off towards it so i knew I was too far away to see what was producing the frost.

As I got closer a Master vamp and thralls were knee deep in guards but Avenichi and her trained gorilla from Warmaidens were dead, so was "sells-his-sister" from general goods and the beggar you get the gift of charity from.

If youre so hell-bent on keeping the attacks in to add a sense of urgency to the DLC story can you at least make helpless NPCs run from hell instead of give it a cuddle?

I honestly don't mind them but i had it to an extent where has everytime i arrived in a city at night i was panicking, saving like mad before the "5 seconds of doom" arrive where has stupidly high level vampire and minions slaughter my 3 hit townsfolk. One or twice a few hours (our time) is fine but its the fear of it all the time... if it only happend less! i prefered the dragons!!! they can't hide! but to finally defeat the vampires to find that last doomhound killed nazeem.... not a single... was given
