Since New Vagas takes place in vegas, that means area 51 is about 500 miles to the north west, would we be able to access it? possibly get cool weapons?

Area 51 isn't in the game. I'll give you a link when I find one.

It confirmed it won't be in-game. People want it to be a potential DLC, but only time will tell. If it has aliens and all that generic alien conspiracy junk, I'll have Zeta flashbacks :shocking:

im not saying aliens, like for a quest you go there, and retrive something, like how you had to get the GECK from 87, where the FEV was created.

Raven Rock is what, 30-50 miles outside D.C? I don't want to imagine walking 500 miles to a stupid military base.

Ehhh, biase aside, it's already confirmed to not be in the game. MAYBE it will be a DLC, but so far, no one knows.

I really really really really really hope it's not in the game or in any DLC what so ever.
Why?
No matter how they do it it will still be a run and gun dungeon crawler just like O:A and MZ which IIRC was the kind of DLC people didn't like for fallout.
So no forever from my part.
Expansion is what I want but even then I don't want that overrated [censored]-hole in it.

Actually, RR would probably be more than 50 miles since it's in Pennsylvania, not Maryland. I'd guess no more than 100-125 miles, however. (Pittsburgh is only 190 miles from DC, after all.)

Ah, I'm from/live around Memphis, TN so my geography of the D.C. Region isn't so good xD

Your best hope would be for Area 51 to be DLC. It's confirmed to not be in the vanilla game already.

im assuming you havent played fallout 1 or 2 so your off the hook, but f.e.v was not created in vault 87.

Do you really expect a location that is 500 miles away to be in the game?

It's slightly over 77 miles from D.C. Still more than 50 miles though.

However Area 51 won't be in the game. DLCs confirmed to be made after the game, so Area 51 may be a location that Obsidian or Bethesda chooses to include. Only time will tell.

Think of it like this. In the Fallout 3 dlc Almost all of the locations were a good distance away. Sure, probably none of them were 500 miles away in literal terms (exception Zeta) but that shouldn't stop them from having a transportation hub of some sort in order to get their.

The Enclave departed east to the Raven Rock Mountain Complex after the destruction of the oil rig in Fallout 2. Technically there could be remnants of the Enclave at Area 51, but really why should we bring the Enclave back? They got their butts kicked in Fallout 2 and then they got their butts kicked even more in Fallout 3 and Broken Steel.

Why not just bring in a new group of adversaries? It could even still have ties to the government because the Enclave doesn't have to be the only shadow government.

Why do we need transportation to get to a place?
In the older games the protagonist walked a craplong time to get somewhere.
This one quest where I had to stop the farmers in Modoc from attacking the Slags on the ghost farm by traveling to The Den and finding Karl to confirm he was alive and then travel back took almost a whole month.
(The travel time from Modoc to Den to Modoc took The Chosen One almost a whole month.)

I gotta say, The Lone Wanderer was a really lazy bastard.
Don't think we need any vehicle of any kind to travel somewhere.

I was more or less reffering to the train tunnel that took the lone wanderer to The Pitt

Area 51 is much closer to Vegas than 500+ miles. More like 83 miles.

This has come up alot. I think it has been confirmed that it will not have a place in the vanilla game. Its possible for a DLC though.

I thought they confirmed it would not be ingame, or a DLC. After what happened with Zeta, I think they are staying away from aliens...
