Vulpes Inculta pronounces Caesar very oddly. : Fallout: New Vegas

Did anyone else notice this? He pronounces it like Kaiser. Have I simply been pronouncing it wrong this whole time, or was this an error with the voice actor or character? I was always sure it was pronounced like the roman emperor's name.

It could be the accent of the voice actor that makes it sound like Kaiser I didn't really noticed I was too distracted by all the action

I've heard that pronunciation before. I rememeber it being the more.....proper way of saying Caesar or to that effect.

Kaiser is how you pronounce Caesar.
The proper pronounciation is Ki-Zer, i believe.

The Romans did not have a soft C sound. It is supposed to be pronounced Kai-sir. I'm pretty shocked they went to such lengths to get it right to be honest. Most popular culture has it as see-zer.

You have to wonder though how somebody after a nuclear war where most books are destroyed and education isn't mandatory for children would know the correct pronunciation, especially with the see-zur pronunciation being so popular and most teachings probably being passed down vocally.

The Legion pronounces it "KAI-sar". The NCR calls him "SEE-zer".

Yeah I feel the same as you right now
I thought they would pronounce it as zeezar instead of kaiser

Not that big of a deal but it kinda threw me for a spin.

That's the original Latin way of pronouncing it. I think the ecclesiastical Latin is "chaisar", but I could be mistaken.

Anyway, it shows that Caesar's legion, or at least it's higher ups, are pretty serious about emulating ancient Rome, they've even done their homework on Latin pronunciations.

I wonder how Caesar himself will pronounce his name though...

Maybe Vulpes Inculta is one of the few crazy people enough to do things like, learn Latin, but probably all the high ranking Legionnaires will be real Classics nerds.

Enduring protectron is correct; Kae-sar is the Latin pronunciation of Caesar, as Cs in latin are all "hard". This just makes me even more conflicted, on the one hand they are trying to uphold things from ancient Rome, which I love, but on the other hand they are a band of slavers.

I wonder if Caesar (of Caesar's Legion) carries around Caesar's (the real one) books on the Gallic Wars and the Civil Wars. Maybe our Caesar would have been a classics professor had the bombs not dropped.....
