I want all the perks

Post » Sat Jun 30, 2012 7:26 am

I'M THE FREAKING DRAGONBORN! I AM FAVORED BY THE GODS THEMSELVES! The DRAGONBORN is born with the soul and blood of a Dovah, it is in MY Nature, OUR Nature, to seek power and knowledge!

One can MASTER many things in one life-time should you choose to spend the time to do so. So why can't we? I thought Bethesda promotes freedom hmm?

Limits gameplay? Not really. You have the option to join the Imperials or the Stormcloaks. You have the ability to restart a character IF you wish to roleplay. What about the people who want to roleplay the dragonborn and master everything? Not possible.

Some would say that they don't want to have ALL of the perks, that's fine, don't use ALL of your perks.

It takes a long time to finish all of the quests, collect unique items, and reach level 100 in all skills (If you don't cheat). If I want to roleplay, I can do so and limit myself like A LOT of us do in most games.

This will honestly be a compromise between people who want perk respec and people who don't want perk respec.

A nice supporter

This isn't about efficiency or being effective.
I for one support Smokers ambition to have every perk.
It is about power, about awesomeness. A character defined by his power, strength, might and being the best at everything.
I approve.

Invoking the Stormwind fallacy here.
Having a powerful build, char or gear setup doesn't automatically make it bad roleplaying, nor does roleplaying require an artifically limited and unoptimized build.
To me it's a perfectly good and valid character motivation and truly in tune with the nature of dragons and the Dragonborn to amass power.
Spot on Dragonborn/Dragonsouled nature roleplaying I say.

Getting a skill to 100 makes you master of it, not necessarily getting all of the perks in every tree.

And seriously, you're hung up about not getting all of the Lockpicking perks? Or Speech perks?

You can't if you're not on PC. I don't even think you can get 1/3 of them all.

Unless you're a PC user you can't, because you can only get 81 perks. And there are more perks than 81.

I thought you could only get 80?

OP, there is a reason why you can't, and it's called replayability.

Ya you're right you only get 80 haha.

Replayability will still be there if I get all of the perks, because I can CHOOSE to replay if I want to.

If you have 100 in all skills and all the perks, what value is there in restarting, excluding factions? There needs to be more incentive than just picking a different side. Limited perks makes restarting more enticing, and it keeps people playing longer because they are redoing quests.

Alright, first off: it takes years to master a skill in real life (like a language or a martial art). And when I say years, I don't mean you study something 2 hours a day for 5 years, I mean those 2 hours have to stack up to years, so a decade at least of your natural life. 18 skills x 10 years? Unless you're Telvanni I don't think you're gonna master all the skills in Skyrim in a single life time.

Otherwise, go play call of duty. This is an RPG. That stands for "Role Playing Game." See, you play a "role" or "character," such as a warrior, mage, or thief. The perks and where you place them define this character, and if you have all the perks then your character has no real definition, ergo it's not gonna be all that interesting. Now, FPS games (you know, Halo, Call of Duty, and all the other games you played before you picked up Skyrim) don't really let you define a character, they just give you a character and stuff to shoot at. So when you get all the perks, no biggie, just makes your job a little easier. Perks in Skyrim, however, serve a slightly different purpose.

I am role-playing, my character is a SUPER AMAZING character that gets all the perks (Or at least wants to). I don't like FPS games much, so no thank you.

It's threads like this that inspire my signature.

I asked this of another poster: why in the world does being the Dragonborn mean you should be able to do everything in one character and get all the perks in one character?

I'll tell you why - because &#*@& OCD THAT'S WHY.

Doesn't that kind of make leveling redundant? Why not just give us one perk in each tree everytime we level up? Why not just make us YOUR version of the Dragonborn and have every character start off as a god?

Because that would kill this game. You're asking to take away the choice we have when we create our character.
