War against Thalmor?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:43 pm

I heard rumors of a DLC that would have a war against the Thalmor. If this is true I have 1 request. Since the Imperials already have heavy armor I was wondering if the Stormcloaks could get their own unique version. So far their only armor types are basic and Officer, both light armor.

Rumors are rumors. Let us wait before panicking in hype

True sons and daughters of Skyrim, don't wear heavy armour.

The war with the Thalmor will probably be in the next game.

I hope the rumors are right this time. But about the armor I think we don't have it for reason. The heavy armor of the legion is steel armor with the Imperial smithing style. Game's basic steel armor is the one with Nordic smithing style.

Hoping it turns into some form of small part of new DLC, I'm already tired of the Thalmor and want to see their thread in the plot put to rest.

There is no truth to those rumors. And personally, I do not what the Thalmor issue to be resolved in a mere DLC.

Not the whole issue, no. But I would like to see a DLC where you have to stop Thalmor invasion on Skyrim. Maybe the name Hearthfire is for second DLC because Thalmor invades on Skyrim at Hearthfire? (That's what I wish to see.)

This. I would love if the next game revolved around the Second Great War between the
Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion, where the player gets to play a pivotal part in the war. You could
decide to join up with either of the two, just like you could choose to join up with the NCR or Caesar's
Legion in New Vegas.

I can already see the opening sequence in my head - you wake up on a boat, just about to dock at a
small harbour on the Summerset Isle. It's morning, and a beautiful sunrise is showing in the horizon at the stern
of the boat. Through the morning mist, you can barely make out the silhouettes of the beautiful elven buildings
of the town. You have arrived. The war is about to end, and it will be because of you. It is up to you to decide
who will be triumphant, and who will perish.

It would also be nice to not be part of a prophecy for a change! And hey... Summerset Isle... It would be magnificent!

I wouldn't want to see that, either. As of right now, the Thalmor have to get through Hammerfell or Cyrodiil to get the Skyrim, so an invasion at this time would make no sense.

About the heavy armor thing, Stormcloaks are better offensively so it's actually balanced.

If you consider the beliefs of the Altmeri, then the last thing you'd want is a Thalmor victory. It'd literally mean the end of the world. And thus the end of the series. So I seriously doubt you'd ever be allowed to take their side and lead them to victory.

One thing is wanting the world to end, another is to actually make it come true. Besides, the belief that Mundus and the creation of Mundus is a tragedy, and that it was
what tore the elves away from Aetherius and their gods, is not new. Many elves believe this, not just the Thalmor. Sure they want the world to end so that they can be
reunited with the divines, but then why go through the trouble of trying to conquer Tamriel? There's more to it than the world ending.

I was thinking of steel armor with blue accents and bear insignias. Maybe you are given a choice between light and heavy.

They don't just want the world to end, they want to make it impossible to start again.

Every kalpa the entire soap starts again, everything returns to what it once was only to be tricked into rebuilding and a new world starts. The Altmer are fed up, they don't want it to happen anymore. The only way they can do that is by destroying man and the very possibility of man. In order to do that they need to conquer the world.

If you don't have access to mods, you could substitute Ancient Nord Armor which is heavy.

It's also unfortunately skimpy in the female model.

You are making an assumption that Thalmor would come through land. They could always use the sea. Also if they would come on land it's possible already. I can't see why the Empire wouldn't let them go through Cyrodiil if they are going to attack against independent Skyrim which seems to be enemy in the eyes of the Empire too.

I have bad memories about those ones - especially about the Hisin Deep-Raed. I installed a mod called better bodies and I picked the more natural option when installing it. After that those Nords running wild in the wilderness seemed quite sick.

I...want to play this right now.

Except, the boat has to be transporting prisoners (including you). "Wake up. We're here. Why are you shaking? Are you ok?"

Because a Thalmor army could easily turn around and attack the Imperial City in the progress, if they move through the land they will need resources, because it will be a huge blow on morale for the Imperial province to see their enemy walk through and probably most important of all because if the Thalmor conquer Skyrim they will surround the Empire.

Also there is no reason why the Thalmor would want to go through Cyrodiil to many risks, especially if reinforcements are denied access or if they are attacked in the rear.

Thats only really a possibility if the stormcloak ending because canon which I doubt it would be, knowing Bethesda they'll do something weird to work around it.
