Ahahahaha, what is this? Blaming Obsidian for PEBKAC errors? This is a new one. Okay, lemme nitpick this.
trying to install i encounter my first problem , more a bit of an anoyance and that,s STEAM , after purchasing the game , it logs on to the STEAM server to download the game. with a bit bad luck to many people trying to download so you can,t download the game cause server is to bussy, and after buying a game i don,t mind to have to wait 15 min to install but i hate it when it takes 8 hours to download.
If you bought it after release it had to download patches. Steam is awesome, but it isn't perfect, and probably decided "Screw this downloading whole thing". It does things like that once in a while. It could also have detected a dirty/bad disc and, instead of locking you out of your game, fetched it from their servers.
Got a pretty nice comp with a late G Force 8 series grapics card, only a 6 series needed, so expected no problems running this game , but everytime i try to use a gun as weapon or entering V.A.T.S my comp gets booted and i get an CPU overheating warning. other recently released games like starcraft 2 i can run on ultra settings.
even when i set grapic settings to lowest it still have problems resulting in my comp getting rebooted.
Then maintain your PC. You probably have way too much dust buildup, a crappy cooler, crappy thermal paste, bad fans, bad airflow in general, excessive ambient temps or any combination of those. Don't go blaming failure to maintain your rig on Obsidian, NV doesn't even make my CPU get up to full temp.
this game is unplayable , when releasing a game make sure you release a bug and glitch free game ,WTF with all the patches.
I'd like you to take the Gamebryo engine, build a game this big on it from scratch, then release it bug free. Go on. I'm waiting.
Make sure you also provide direct X drivers required for playing this game as cd content.
As I said earlier it isn't Obsidian's fault you don't know how to properly maintain your machine. Though I will admit they kinda screwed up the direct-X handling from the game engine's perspective but no DXUpdate is going to fix that. For that, just grab a dll fix off newvegasnexus.com
And don,t force people to use steam just another program that eats away your memory,
If steam uses up enough memory for this to be a concern you don't have enough memory to be gaming in the first place. My rig has 4 gigs of memory, as such Steam doesn't even register as a blip on the graph.
Overall this game doesn,t represent the quality i expect from a game developer like bethesda.
Obsidian made the game. Not Bethesda. If you're going to spout baseless accusations at least spout them at the right target.
Overall OP, the issues you are experiencing have absolutely nothing to do with Obsidian and everything to do with user error. Maintain your PC a bit, upgrade your ram, and you should note that NV runs fine and Steam doesn't [censored] enough ram to slow anything down.
