Week off work?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:57 am

I know I've done it before. Maybe you have too. But will you be doing this time? Will you be taking a week off work or school when Fallout: New Vegas is released? Maybe you'll tell your mum you've got flu? Maybe you'll tell your boss you've a medical problem with your anus just so they're too embarrassed to ask any further questions? Whatever excuse or tactic you use, it just simply has to be done. A week of unmitigated indulgance in the world of Fallout. Sweet!!!

I can't because we aren't allowed to call off any days from October 20th - January 1st. Bastards.

Think before you speak. This is a video-game forum. :P

I can't actually request a week off school, so no. I guess I'll just have to ignore my homework, like last time. :P

I already quit my full time job so I can go back to school full time. So I can't afford to ditch class for New Vegas :sadvaultboy: But my free time will be for New Vegas! :disguise:

Yes I did, this is the first video game in which I took a week of work off just for a game. I would take 2 if I had the time to spare. :)

It wont matter though, I and my buddies at work will begin talking in FNV vernacular constantly for the last 3 months of the year, and quite probably drive our management insane.

34 days! Can't wait!

I've been VERY careful how much stuff I look at around here so as not to see a lot of spoilers. And I didn't even know the official release date was disclosed until last week. So I was absolutely overjoyed to see that it's release date is the week I'm on vacation! I already had the time scheduled weeks ago, so it's totally a coincedence, but an awesome one nonetheless. Moreover, once I discovered it was being released the Tuesday of that week I decided to cut my beach trip short a couple days just to get back in time for first day some pwnage!!! (Pretty sick, I know...) :cryvaultboy: :fallout: :mohawk:

it comes out on a Tuesday for me, and I have enough vacation and personal days that I could take off wed-Fri night but Friday night and Saturday night and likely Sunday evening I have to work helping my dad no matter what.

I am quite likely to take wed-Fri off so when I get the game Tuesday I can spend some time with it, Because I been working 7 days a week lately. The money is nice but I miss having free time.

I have either money, or time. Not both.

Luckily I have no class on the Tuesday it comes out and the Wednesday after it, so while I may not have a week off (and can't take a week off because my college's attendance policy is ridiculously strict), I will be able to play the game for ~48 hours if I sacrifice sleep. It may not be the same as the 3 days I was able to play Fallout 3 in a row thanks to it being winter break when I got it, but ~48 hours is still good.

Fallout 3 was so good that I didn't have any control over how long I played it, I couldn't bare to put the controller down for more than a few minutes I loved it so much. I had never planned on the game being that good, it was just a random game I saw at the store, so there was no planning on my part of how long I would spend on it once I got it like I'm doing now with New Vegas. Here's hoping New Vegas will have the same effect on me and will actually make me want to play it for the ~48 hours I have available.

I have about a week or so of vacation time left for this year, but I'm saving them for the holidays, so I guess I'm going to work half dead from lack of sleep... :cryvaultboy:

I'm taking off the Tuesday the game releases. My 21st birthday is the following week, which I'm taking 5 days off for moderate drinking, maybe a little traveling, gaming, listening to music, and six. Yup.

I work part time (ah the blessings of a gap year) so erm, no problem there for me ;)

I don't think I would take a week off (since I may be getting hired full time until I leave for China next year), as much as I reckon I'm gonna love this game, it is still only a game and it'll be there for me, I don't wanna finish it too early :o

Oops, wrong person, lol. When I replied I just glanced at your Avatar and didn't actually look at your name. There is a person who frequents the Oblivion forums named Acadian with the same avatar you are using. He has an Oblivion character named "Buffy the Bowgirl" that he posts often of her adventures. I was used to seing that avatar on Acadian's posts and mistook you for him, lol. Sorry. :whistling:

I was considering taking the week off the other night for this game mmmmmm fortunately I was unemployed when I bought FO3 and it got 4 weeks dedicated and uninterupted gaming. I'd be up for the week off, in fact I think I only have 4 days Holidays left, I only work 4 days a week anyhow, if it doesn't clash with some of my "you have to be there at this Event, Boss Commands, wagging finger at me" yipe I'll gladly take the week off for this :) In fact I can't wait :)

unfortunately i cant take a week off. i work commission so if i don't work i don't get paid.

another kick in the teeth is that the game is released on the same day of I and my Girlfriends anniversary (you see where im going with this) don't get me wrong i love my Girlfriend but this is just annoying.

if it wasn't for the staggering of release dates this wouldn't happen (thanks Bethesda) :banghead:
