Weird Things in Skyrim That You Think Only You Do

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:20 am

In addition to the stuff already in the house, I add decor from the various places I've been... Like dynamo cores, dwarven plates, goblets, quills, inkwells, etc... Areial, how in the world do you place items in an orderly fashion in your house?! You're talking about rotating helmets on shelves and I can't even set a lute or drum down in a frickin' chair next to my Breezehome hearth fire!! They are laying on the floor like some white trash house from 'Hoarders'. I have the PC version. Is there some command or do you just have good aim?

Oh, and I have my stored equipment in my house organized by type, but with one addition. Enchanted Skill Armor goes with the item type in the chest or end table (Alchemy equip is stored with the ingredients, and Smithing equip is stored with smithing materials.

i used to collect souls of unique creatures in morrowind, then they butchered the named souls in oblivion and didnt put it back in skyrim

i now make a pile of corpses everytime i clear an open area like camps, and toss a few fireballs in for ragdoll fun

Shooting cabbages and tomatoes! Love doing that to no end, well lately I've taken to it since I'm procrastinating the main quest for now.

I have a habit of tidying up all public and private spaces. Like the Windhelm Market when all the food and armour falls off the stalls.
Or when items randomly forget to go in their proper places in Honeyside, I'll pick them up and reorganise them to my heart's content.

Such persistance in janitorial work in the game work is not a usual happening, I imagine.

I know I'm not the only one that does this, but I'll make it a priority to find somewhere to sleep after each long travel or dungeon. I "sleep" during carriage rides though, so :)

I aim for at least 6 hours of sleep every 30 hours of game time.

I also spend about 3 hours organizing books on shelves so they match covers and don't fall over. I stable my horse outside every city (i.e. I don't run up to the gates on horseback) and carry apples to feed it.

Only thing wierd that I do that others might not is talk back to all the NPCs in real life. I never just let one of their one-liners in passing go without some comment to my screen. Sometimes out loud, sometimes not... but I always respond somehow.

LOL Oh yea, I do that, too on occasions. "No Lollygagging" - " Oh yea? You talkin' to me, guard?" I love to get right up into the guards faces too, so they have to take a step back. LOL

I just can not make myself skip past a jar or urn without checking it for gold coins. My last character had over 99K gold, but I would still search desperately for every single coin I could find. I just don't think there will ever be a point where I stop doing this. I want to ... but I just can't.

OMG the Urns will be my downfall. That's why a 20 min dungeon takes me like an hour. LOLOL I have to LOOT everything! Now, I did cut back with my lvl 56 character, but man, you never know...

I think the weirdest thing I do is for just about every save, i arrange the screen so that the save screenshot got some kind of "theme" to it, IE I'd rear my horse on top of a hill so the camera angle shows a nice silhouette against the backlit sky, I'd move into position so that I get a nice shot of a spectacular scenery, and when on foot outdoor I mostly try to get my companion and horse in the picture. Don't ask me why.

I keep all my hoarded stash divided up in different categories. Weapons in a chest next to my bed, clothing and armour in a dresser, miscellaneous items in another dresser, jewelry in an end table, potions in a drawer in the kitchen.

I also compulsively pick up different ingredients I "think" i don't have too many of and store them all in my house, even though I rarely use Alchemy. I also save my game too often because I don't like doing tedious stuff like looting the same corpses and urns all over again if I die.

OCD, me? Nah.
*cough*

LOL I think I can't walk past a plant. Must harvest everything in sight (even if it just sits in my "ingredient barrel"). I also have a place for all my stuff. Raw Materials goes in the trunk, jewelry in the end table, special crafting equipment is stored in a separate end table, kitchen Utensils and pots are stored in a kitchen cabinet, Food is stored in a separate barrel from Alchemy ingredients. Books are usually sorted by topic on the bookshelf... there is order in my house! LOL Weapons of course go on the wall displays! lol

I must decorate flat surfaces in my house (a bowl of Apples, a plate with cheese, a book etc.) All houses are decorated! Dwemer Bowls! I think I carried over 40 bowls out of one Dwemer Ruin once! LOL I haven't even used them all!

i used to do that in Morrowind lol. It was cooler back then because the soul gem would display their name.

They were like Dexters trophies. I had to give myself more Azura Stars with the console so that I could have Vivec and Almelexia soul gems side by side. Nothing like having the souls of gods stashed in your basemant.

I had the soul of every Dagoth in the game on a table in Tel Uvirith, surrounded by house Dagoth artifacts such as the amulet of Heartfire, and eventually Wraithguard, Sunder and Keening.
I put extra special souls such as the ash vampires on a silver plate.
Red paper lanterns behind the table for atmosphere.

These are features that I really, really miss. Named soulgems and being able to decorate your house, including lighting.

In Skyrim I enjoy being a reversed burglar with people I like.
I break into their homes and leave a handful of gems or some other valuables in their houses.

I once shot a fox, the arrow striking him in his most intimate parts... Then I just proceeded to drag and maintain him at character face height and run around the land of skyrim so that every now and then his arrow struck butt would jiggle before my eyes. It annoyed my girlfriend to no end. Then I got tired of it and dropped it in some fire in a stormcloak camp. I didn't even give it a name ...

Oh yeah I also talk back to NPCs one-liners. Every-single-time.

Also, for the people who like to jump off things and see what happens, there is a wonderful spot in the Reach to satisfy this need. It's in the south near the border of Falkreath Hold...
Nice! I have to check that out. Haven't been to all of the main holds yet (I usually spend alot of time exploring the wild, dungeoncreeping and doing side quests instead of following the main questline), but I'm always on the lookout for nice places to jump off. The very first thing I did when having visited the Graybeards for the first time was to use Whirlwind sprint to see how far I could rocket off the highest cliff before I tumbled to a rocky death.

Every time I pass a small shrine, I leave a tiding in gems, gold ore, or whatever valuable I can spare. If I don't have any vaulables, I'll leave a weapon or piece of armor.

How odd, Jo'Nyan pressumes these trinkets were left for her, so she takes them and goes about her business, is this one in trouble?

i would love to see the next TES add some seriously deep gameplay features for religion in tamriel.

edit: the lore of TES is superb. use it.

Also enjoy taking Ria from Jorvaskr specifically to track and hunt for bears.

I enjoy staying away from Dwemer ruins.

I have the tradition of taking underwater shots of every character I make. No milkdrinkers, they have to be true swimmers!

I also rarely travel down roads, I put on Ethereal (or God Mode if the height looks really too big) and JUMP!

I still don't have full Ethereal.
And if I didn't, they'd be tumbling down the mountain after which a bear would claim their corpse for its family's dinner.

...Which is why you walk around, or carefully manouver your way down the hill/mountain/cliff. Carelessly jumping off cliffs is reserved for fun-to-watch suicides.

I am glad to see I am not the only crazy person on the forums lol

And yeah there is really nothing creepier than a small room with red lanterns and 6th house artifacts. Maybe if you throw in some daedra hearts in for good measure... but that would take away from the 6th house collection feeling. If only we could rearrange the furniture in a really odd way to give it that true sixth house vibe.

Eat and sleep everyday.

With my assassin I would lay a nightshade flower on my marks after I killed them. If they were sleeping I would feed on them first.

The weirdest thing I do... I have 1 character play three parts. I created a mage, about level 60 I created a bunch of enchanted gear for sneaking, caught vampirism and played as if it was a completely new character. I didn't use any of my past gear, except the enchanted sneak gear which I made to offset the fact that I was level 60 and had a sneak of 30. After I did the DB and thieves missions I cured vampirism and enchanted a full suit of steel plate armor with fortify 1 hand and health and made a smashy character. Did all the bounty(looking for work...) missions and companion quests. Then threw all the stuff in the 'knights' house and went back to playing my mage as if the other two characters did not exist. Well except that for fluff they all know each other. The assassin works for the mage, and the knight hates them both and is on a quest to kill them. The assassin also buys poison from the mage. He will go to the mage's house, drop off gold and buy poisons. Each has their own house, the mage lives at the college, the assassin at the DB hideout, and the knight in whiterun.

Play dead is dead.

Use one of my two quick slots(xbox) for my helmet so I can take it off and on without entering a menu.

I do this

I also do this, minus the arranging my save game picture.... only do that sometimes.
Also... before going to bed for the night, or leaving, I make sure my character is sitting in a tavern, or in his house.... feels wrong to leave him in the bitter mountain air. heh.

What are some weird things you do in Skyrim that you think only you do?

Me personally, I like to collect the souls of my enemies in Black Soul Gems and keep them in a chest in my house. I've never heard of anyone doing that.

I actually keep them in that display in the Arch-mage Quarters.

When I'm doing the DB radiant quests, I disguise myself as a beggar woman, and spy on my mark for a few hours to figure out the best time to strike. I eat skeever tails to maintain cover of being the crazy, homeless lady.
