Werebears and Spears... maybe next DLC?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 8:38 am

Lycan means wolf in greek and thrope means man so I do not know why bethesda put other creatures as lycanthropes.

Just because they used the word 'Lycanthrope' doesn't mean they can only use greek inspired mythology. Werebears appear in Norse and Native American mythology.

EDIT: Also, the people who think werebears are stupid/silly. Why is it that a man that turns into a wolf is awsome but a man that turns into a bear is stupid. This attitude of 'they'd be the same, just reskinned' shows a lack of imagination. Werewolves are fast, agile and constantly attacking. Werebears could be all power and brute force, tanks. Maybe more defensive than the wolves attack perhaps. The wolf has howl of terror that makes enemies flee. The bear could have a roar that stuns enemies or knocks them back, maybe paralyzes them.

I agree with Erik, people that think werebears are stupid need to read Hrolfs saga Kraka.

My favourite saga that one, I'm glad you mentioned it.

I don't see the point unless they actually remake them to function differently from the werewolf. The game jam video looked like a reskinned werewolf to me.
you know that GamJam was only a week!!

Throwing spears commonly knows as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javelin wouldnt be so bad it would be nice to throw somthing different at a Dragon besides arrows and bolts but the spears I'm talking about are melee spears like in the GamJam.

Agreed, *if* a Werebear ever saw the light of day it would obviously get it's own perk tree and if the lazy route was taken and the perk tree was shared then they could simply change the tree name from Lycanthropy to Therianthropy to please the people nitpicking.

Also that would be perfect for mod makers since Therianthropy is the correct term to cover ALL man/animal transformative creatures.

In our world Lycanthropy is related to just werewolves, but what people do not understand is that in TES Lycanthropy is refers to all Lycnathropes werewolves, werewbears, werevultures, werelions, etc.

I don't know about Werebears.

Anyone else found the bear cave in Dayspring Canyon? Kind of pointless, but maybe it use to be there for a reason in Dawnguard...but got left out.

....but other logic. They already have the vampire lord form and werewolf form....adding another form may be over doing it - in their eyes.

I want both spears and more forms, but we can't be 100% sure they'll add more forms like werebear and so on. We already have 1 for both sides, vampire and lycanthopy. So i dont think they'll add werebear but who's not to say there could be a hiding group of werebears somewhere within skyrim. I would love to see seasonal foliage and other game jam features added, maybe not giant mudcrab little over the top haha.

Correction, we have 2 on one side and 1 on the other. There are now 2 vampirism options in the game, still only 1 Were- option. I don't get why people have such an issue with this. More options = bad... how exactly?

Yes i dont see how its bad i mean if theirs any Daggerfall fans out there they got 2 forms of Lycanthropy so its not out of the question for Beth to put another form in Skyrim...

I agree, more options = more roleplaying possibilities, and werebears should've been in Skyrim when the game came out.

No! werewolves always come first since it is more logically than a werebear.

Why when werebears are native to Skyrim?? You'd think that Beth would have added Werebears first since there so numinous that you have to rub cain root everywhere to ward them off

This is what I dislike about modern society, just because somthing is more acceptable like werewolves bethesda has ruin their previous lore(that werebears are the most common lycanthrope in Skyrim) by making werewolves only so people won't complain and say "Werberes R dumb. Y wud sumwon wunt to B a bear".
