What are these fiends we keep hearing about?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:56 pm

Maybe he just forgot a letter, maybe he meant Friend camp where all your little friends reside and press wild flowers all day long

Isn't that what a fiend is?

Aren't drugaddicts/abusers also referred to as "fiends"?

Correct, this has been blown way out of what they ment. The Fiend encampent is surley to mean that enemy encampment.

This.

Though I could see it being the new name for feral ghouls.

I hope this place is an old summer camp called the "Happy Friends Camp" ~and the sign is damaged.

I don't think that they've renamed the (feral) ghouls to fiends, I bet it's a new gang name.

I'm not so sure. The first time I saw the term, it was capitalized and mentioned in the sentence right before or after the developer said that there are worse creatures to worry about than Deathclaws in New Vegas. I can't remember which interview it was (I've read so many), but I think it was in one of the blurbs NMA picked out for their front page news section. It leads me to believe that it is a specific enemy type - something that could trash a Deathclaw.

3 words.
OH,MY,GOD

You trying to suggest there's an enemy that will easily outmatch a Deathclaw?! :stare:

BREAKING NEWS! FIEND SPOTTED! :ahhh:
LOCK YOUR DAMN DOORS! REPLACE IT WITH STEEL ONES! THE FIEND IS COMING! THE FIEND IS COMING! TAKE COVER!
:bolt:
Oh my god, i even can't handle a Deathclaw easily, even WITH T51-B and Gauss Rifle.

To developers:
Is the Fiend is a really big, bad, and scary monster  ?
If it's an affirmative, OH YEAH!!!
If it's a negative, too bad....

Wild Speculation:

Crossbred Super Mutant and Geckos. Super Mutants discover that they are not totally sterile and can breed with Geckos.

Before you do that, go to PL and get Ghoul Anatomy and Superior Defender and it'll take 3 seconds.

Example of Fiend used in modern english, dope fiend, "Man that was fiend" another way to say "Damn". I say Fiend is an enemy or gang. I kind of doubt they meant it in a text book fashion...

No, even a gauss rifle can't do the job for tackling 5 DEATHCLAWS at once
The one that will do the job is that smoking hot energy weapon (to be precise, the special version of the alien disintegrator) i found in MZ :)

Just saying, but I hope F:NV doesn't remind anything of Runescape. We can COOK food now? We can pick up "Gecko Hide", we can craft.

What's next? Find enchanted bullets that emit a dust that kill everything around them? Mine runes? Gosh, I really hope I don't HAVE to cook. Too much to do in the Wasteland as it is.

heh... I dunno. I think more content is a good thing. but to put your mind at ease, you can still play NV the braindead FO3 way (I loved FO3 though), and just run through the game, blasting away, living on stim-paks and rad-away. lol.

In hardcoe mode, you'll have to plan your next moves wisely. You'll have to eat food (where cooking comes in handy), drink water, and sleep. That and stim-paks won't instantly heal you, it will be a heal over time thing (I doubt they'll drag it out TOO long, maybe 5 seconds or so), as well as there will not be any fast traveling (that is the most brutal part to me) Time consuming, yes. but I think it should be alright.

That's a baseless rumor. I believe a developer has stated that it's not true.

I agree, it's ridiculous.
What's even more ridiculous is that it's an FPS...
Damn Doom 1 clone. <_<

Oh and it has modern guns now too.
Damn COD:MW clone. <_<

And it has super mutants.
Damn Marvel rip-off. <_<

And it has ghouls.
Damn Lucio Fulci rip-off. <_<

...
...
*sigh*
It's sad that I have to do this but otherwise people won't get it: /sarcasm.

I think that's a junk name for a critter we've only seen in daylight screenshots. Oh well..

Maybe yeah, hopefully there may be a side quest that revolves around them, they look like really interesting enemies.

As much as I like FNV, I really hate these new Nightstalkers. A cross between a coyote and a rattlesnake could be so cool, with the body of a coyote and the rattle of a rattlesnake, fur but with patches of scales, and a coyote's head but with a forked tongue and snake eyes.

Instead we get a mangy coyote with a lizard's head <_<

The fiend is probably going to be Manbearpig. It seems only fitting with the Fallout setting after all. :tops:

I'm fairly certain 'Fiend encampment' refers to enemy camps in general.
