What changes after the civil war?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 8:00 am

That was almost poetically well put...though I resent your anti-elven comments haha. It's still a shame to me that bethesda would let things remain largely the same after an entire civil war, and then literally act like nothing happened. I know this is a cliché, but what were they thinking? I mean...literally. They must have discussed this at some meeting. Did they just run out of time or money?

I remember some Dumner said things have started to get better, but they won't see anything big change for a while

I wonder if some of the stuff we're asking for is already in the game, just not executing properly from radiant storytelling bugs?

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised that with such a huge game that some dialogue options and complex outcomes aren't working properly yet, and with what we know about the radiant stuff needing some work, I can't wait for the next patch and see what happens. :tes:

Nothing major changes, but I still find Stormcloak questline more interesting - the dialogues, inititation test and characters are far more interesting and complex, at least for me.

It sorta bugs me that our Dovahkiin has to remain subject to lesser mortals. Dovahkiin throughout history have been kings, queens, emperors, empresses, all sorts of great things.

I'm DRAGONBORN, damnit. Like Tiber and the Uriels of Septims before me. Living proof that Akatosh doesn't think we mortals ought to go Poof, just yet.

But the best I can do is be Thane, and sit in Elisif's court next to some philandering, arrogant [censored] named Erickur.

Being Dovahkiin has got to get better than this...

...

...Seriously? "Jack" plus slang term for "butt" is censored? Wow. That's all i tried to call the guy.

What are you expecting to change? The Stormcloak jarls are deposed and replaced, some Stormcloaks retreat to the mountains to continue fighting, and life goes on. The rulership is put off until a moot can assemble. Maybe they'll do something with it in DLC. I would like to see that.

This would only make sense if your PC is Nord. They weren't going to make a reward that breaks lore for non-Nord characters.

The first mortal thought to be blessed by Akatosh with the blood of Dragons was St. Alessia. She was born in Cyrodiil, into slavery by the Ayleids.

Most certainly not an exclusively Nord phenomenon, this Dragonborn thing.

Are the Nords really so closed-minded and racist, that an obvious Dragonborn of a "beast" race could not be regarded as the Chosen of Akatosh?

Perhaps Nords only wish to be ruled by Nords, but if Akatosh commands them to revere a cloaca-pooping lizard... who saved them from total annihilation... as Dragonborn... So be it.

Would the Dunmer or Argonians allow a Nord to become king of their respective countries? Not hardly. You are revered as Dragonborn, but it is unrealistic to think the moot would choose a non-Nord as king. There aren't even any jarls who aren't Nords.

After you personally prevent the hitting of the reboot switch upon the Kalpa, saving EVERYTHING and EVERYONE, you're still an N'Wah.

Yeah. Got it.

They allowed you to become the Nerervarine, Hortator and Grandmaster of their great house.

What are you expecting to change?

I'd like people not to talk about Ulfric as if he were still alive. Or NPC's not to discuss the ongoing Civil War, as it has already been over for 2-3 months game time. News may travel slow in Skyrim, but everyone should be in the loop by now. The fact there is almost zero reaction to the quest line completion from the majority of Skyrim's populace is what made it disappointing.

IMHO something needs to be fixed. "You are that mage from the college" - I am the archmage! The big boss! "Disrespect the law and you disrespect me" - I am a legate of the Imperial Legion and a thane in all the 9 holds! Wtf are you talking about, I'm not even a Khajiite! And that sweet roll comment completely drives me mad. Sweet roll? I can kill all the city guards single-handedly, what in the name of Arkay are you talking about?

I become legate - Rikke still calls me a soldier. Hey, you dumb [censored], we are of equal rank now, you don't just give me orders, you coordinate your strategic plans with me. And what do I get after I kill Ulfric? Perhaps a fort under my command, or a garrison in a city (Windhelm seems to be the most appropriate choice)? No, all I get is a crappy sword. Do you seriously think that I don't have a sword? I like just ended the civil war, how about that? You guys were in deep [censored] before I came in to do the dirty work for you.

Oh, and the blades. "We have nothing to talk about until Paathurnax dies" - excuse me, I kinda missed the part where I, the Dovahkiin, the messanger of Akatosh, started to take orders from an old hag and a mute, who belong to an organisation that is purposed to SERVE me. Like I have a dragon under my command, I may simply end their pathetic existance, as well as the existance of their archaic order.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, but it is just not fair. In Oblivion, I was respected. Here, nobody even fears me. Lack of respect - maybe realistc, lack of fear - oh come on, would you [censored] off a guy who is wearing Dragon bone armour?

What about the Thalmor? Do they still have an embassy and wander Skyrim if the stormcloaks win?

Well at least the stormcloaks will he all gone I guess....still that's really sad. A that build up for nothing.

No, actually, they wont be gone.
There will be camps of Stormcloaks out in the world, but no matter what you got told by the general, you cant get rid of them.
The camp leader is still essential, even after the civil war.

If the Stormcloaks win, nothing changes either. There will still be Thalmor.

The quest line was a complete let-down, wouldnt have minded if it wasnt in the game at all.
The worst part is that both the Stormcloak and Imperial questline are exactly the same.

Oh no it gets better , if you're stormcloak and save prisoners of random Thalmor groups walking down the roads, sometimes town guards will want to arrest you , same with imperial even if both sides really don't like the Thalmor.

It's almost as if these NPCs know they're immortal and are just doing this to piss us all off

So really, nothing changes after any significant action your PC does.

You don't even get decent loot? I care about the story more, but that apperently is shoddy too....so this questline is pretty much a bust, isn't it?

It's the same problem as Oblivion. Everyone starts out in Steel gear and stays in Steel gear, even when the PC is past level 50.

I had to be insanely careful doing the quest because once misstimed swing meant I murded someone on my side.

This. I think it's fair to have expected at least this.

Wait a minute? Even the stormcloaks don't go away? Really? ...........(explodes)

I just realized nothing happens to the hard core stormcloak supporters either. That racist Rolff Stone fist is still waltzing around calling me "friend" even though we just had a brawl...and I'm an elf. This is just so pathetic...

This thread is exactly what I'm talking about. Dragonborn... Schmaggonborn. where are the accolades? I went to High Hrothgar after beating Alduin and I expected some kind of homecoming. No one was even there?

What if you do the civil war before Alduin... do you still have the council where they force a treaty? Or is that no longer in the game?

I WANT MY PROPAHS!

And this is why I've slowly been losing faith in Bethesda ever since I bought this game...
