I would like to see another hunk of wasteland (Southern or Western) with a couple of settlements and a bit more to do, the Eastern Wastelands fleshed out a bit more and all sections opened up for players that want to back track. A chapter/mission select that retro fits based on progress would be sweet too. Padded with generative missions on the job boards for longevity.
+ Co-op levels built around new section of wasteland.
I have no idea what the engine is capable of... but I'd like to see a more open world developed. Playing Rage left me feeling like there was a single path to success and if I didn't follow it, I'd be screwed later on. I'd really like to see options added that would allow play to develope in different directions, rather than having a single character run through the game with a specific skill set and specific gear. Rage is probably "not the game I'm looking for" but it would be great to think that it could be.

They deliberately made it that way. Bottom line id makes linear arcade style shooters and not RPGs. They're the geeks of game developers who specialize in fast cutting edge graphics engines and a million monsters rushing you at once. Shakespeare they are not. With Rage they made it semi-open world just to add some variation to the linear corridor shooter theme.
Yeah, i'm expecting continuation from the end too, i'd like to use the pulse cannon a bit more, you could use it only in prime mission, and that was lame, think most of us liked this weapon
