What does everyone expect from Rage DLC

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:11 pm

I can only assume that there is going to be DLC for Rage, or a tie in sequel. I'm hoping more or less for DLC but I'll be happy either way. Everyone can agree that the abrupt ending was a disappointment but otherwise a good sign for more to come. My expectations for a sequel and DLC are endless considering there are more arks to be discovered with possible survivors. Just the idea can open doors for many things in terms of gameplay (single or multiplayer). Plus, the hint of the subway expansion must be DLC. Reading these forums I've seen suggestions on DLC for dead city and more.

What else does everyone expect from DLC. Please leave negative comments aside, seeing from these forums there is a good number of gamers interested in this games expansion and growth.

Some under-cover missions in Capital prime would be pretty cool; having to live in the city as you did in wellspring and subway town, pretend to work for general cross. Maybe each time you'd accept a mission from general cross you'd get a dual secret mission from the resistance on a specific way to sabotage the mission from Cross. Could end on a cliffhanger of cross discovering you, Leaving the next DLC mission pack to involve escaping from an authority prison, getting some intel, and then returning to the resistance. Or perhaps racing around the wasteland and protecting various ark sites from badits/the authority. Another idea that comes to mind is getting sent on a mission by Marshall to try and recruit certain, more "civilized" bandit tribes into the resistance. You'd have to go down to the tribe's territory, seek out the leader, and then would go on missions for *him/her*, with the understanding that if you succeed, then that tribe would agree to join with the resistance in the fight against The Authority. This idea popped into my head after hearing some NPC saying something to the effect of "if the bandit tribes ever joined forces then no one would be able to stop them!"

More of an insight into the Authority and their mutant project. Then they should also introduce a flamethrower, along with customized ammo for it - like green napalm-plasma-ish something. Doesn't matter what it is - custom ammo type with green flames that makes the enemy turn into goo that melts, disintegrates and burns at the same time.

And I don't know why either, but I think they should throw in some Fallout-style molerats and/or more mutated animals/creatures.

I'm hoping for about a 4 hour expansion...but if it is coming within a few months, they probably didn't have time to develop that. Maybe 3 new FPS levels, and a new weapon or two.

Funny you mention that, just imagine if apophis isn't just a giant rock headed our direction, but an alien mothership, but that's beside the point.

Otherwise I am expecting a lot from DLC and a sequel. For example, I would like to play as other characters in the game, not just the resistance. Maybe there could be multiplayer features where you can play as the authority going against the resistance, with the choice of making your opponents AI or even other people online. Thinking in terms of an MMO FPS, is there one in existence without the same RPG level up template? I'm thinking rage could be that.

Something else I'd like to see, beyond what I've already mentioned, is an expansion on all of the settlements - Make Hagar and Outrigger more fully realized (more NPC's to accept missions from, a job board, a card/dice game or two) and turn Wellspring and Subway Town into huge(er) cities with lots of nooks and crannies to eplore, maybe even some NPC dwellings/quarters to burst in on.

*Racing Mode: Maybe it's just me but I'd love to see Racing Mode for online (4-player). Racing was one of the thing I enjoy the most in single-player experience. We need it!

*Teamslayer Mode: Probably unlikely, however who knows. If DLC is planning to include Teamslayer in the future, then I know I'll be playing a lot of it (possible as much as mega games like Call of Duty/Halo series.)

*Unlock more area in SIngle-player Mode: Many of us fans noticed that some area are not open/locked and have always wondered if there is DLC for it or not. We'd love to have a lot of more unlocked area to explore more further and, perhaps, find some rare items or some cool weapons.

*Other fun stuffs DLC: More clothes? Kart Mode? Stuff like that.

It's not even a cliff. It's more like a gigantic steep slope that falls off into nothing, so you don't even have anything to hang on to.

Lol, fair enough :P

Personally, some of the Authority double agent stuff mentioned earlier sounds awesome. It will be easier to list than paragraph everything so here goes:
- Online racing
- Multiplayer bots (cos very difficult to find a server)
- Massive single player expansion in terms of new area, larger than the Eastern Wastelend, cos that was not all that big in my eyes.
- More things like the racing and Mutant Bash TV where if you have finished the game, you can just go back and still play it.
- Survival mode for multiplayer and singleplayer
- Dethmatch... I wish
- All the weapons from the online cars implemented for your single player cars. Would love to hammer some bandits with nailguns
- A couple of huge boss fights
- Maybe a scene (like at the end of Halo or Metroid) where you have to drive away from an exploding facility. Make it fairly long though and plenty of bandits and stuff. Would be really cool to see RAGE at it's finest; explosions everywhere, buildings crashing, fire everywhere, would looks sick
- Some more weapon upgrades.
- Maybe a nail gun (for the FPS stuff, not the racing), just cos it would be awesome, and it would pay homage to Quake...

That doesn't cover everything that I want, but seriously, if even half this stuff is implemented, I will be stoked, and if all plus more is chucked in, I will pay $50AUD for it. Easy

An actual ending to the game would be nice. In my opinion the time spent in tunnel city was way too short, it felt like they ran out of production time and had to throw an ending into the game. The capita prime mission was also a complete pushover, its only lasts like 3 stages and its over, i spent all of my money making ammo and didn't even get to use half of it by the time i beat it.

What i think would have been a much more respectable ending would be if after you complete tunnel city you go to Gunbarrel (where Hagar goes after you finish your missions with him), and do some more missions racing the authority to acquire the newly awakened vault dwellers, and then end the game after completely wiping out the authority (or taking control of it)

of course removing the authority would likely destablize things, so that would provide room for a sequel

additionally i was also kind of sad that you can't go back to the game after beating it and find more stuff to do in tunnel city with the authority gone, or even do the job board missions again, because all you can do is load a save. the sniping missions were actually pretty fun, id like to do those without having to start the entire game over again.

I wonder if the story in comic books/novel (by Matthew Costello) tells plentiful of story that might give us a hint of what the future (aka the end) might looks like? I might get those books and see how it goes...

An actual ending for sure. Also I can't stand multiplayer TD and free for all, I just grew tired of those games but I'd actually think putting that aspect into Rage Online would be cool. Anyway an ending must be top priority. The game never ended in my opinion. I could of swore there were going to be more missions after the last one, at least of boss fight. If they add an ending that has some meat to it Rage would end up in my top ten favorite of the last 5 years. The gun mechanics Rage have are insane, that shotgun with those pop rocks or whatever they are called was beast.

To be able to carry on from the final scene and be able to go back into Wellspring and Subway Town.

More vehicles, more races. More hideouts. More baddies. A main quest. More side quests.

Hopefully more map with a couple more regions.

Basically, more of everything. We want more RAGE. Well... at least I do, I can't speak for anyone else I guess.

I would love to see a DLC that gave us some more insight on the Authority and the Resistance. I found the Authority interesting and I was pretty disappointed when you didn't get to learn anything about them except, "they're the bad guys and they do bad stuff".
I'd even like a DLC adding some more Legends of the Wasteland stories.

I would love to see more free-roam areas without those invisible obstructions . There are some places just out of reach that simply draw your eye. I would love to just go driving and explore those regions.

Questions answered. Both Dan Hagar and Elizabeth say something to the effect, "I know you have questions…" well yes I do. I'm revived after 106 years in a capsule and someone I don't even know asks me to murder a group of people in cold blood without so much as an explanation? How can I be sure I'm working for the right side?

Make nightmare truly nightmarish. There should be way more people on the screen trying to tear your heart out. Moreover they should be more aggressive. I would love to be able to explore more of those abandoned city buildings. Some of them have multiple floors purposely blocked off by debris. Too many locked doors as well; too many entrances where you aren't given access.

I would like to see more doors unlocked in Subway Town and Wellsprings. Also to have a couple new settlements opened up would be key. If they had a subway line fixed that takes you to a bigger city like the Prey 2 city that would be beyond awesome. Adding some new weapons is always cool and new vehicles because the driving mechanics in Rage are great. It would be great to have a track vehicle and a six wheel vehicle added. Adding stuff to the mission boards would work for me. I think they could have a couple more bandit clan variations to deal with in the out skirts of the new settlements. Bring back another colossal monster to take out, but have the battle happen when your in your vehicle in a free roam area. That way the creature can chase you but you have the speed and fire power to bring him down eventually or escape and deal with later. Well I could go on and on..... more wasteland legends more races.... Truth is I will be happy to have any new content for Rage!!!

Forgot to mention co-op through the campaign would be nice to see. Single player is fine but seeing new things with a friend is better then having to tell them about it or worse have them tell you about it before you get to see it. Just a thought!!!

I love the idea of having a boss fight while in your vehicle. That sounds like a brilliant idea!!

I actually think that that is one of the things I want most now. WOuld be really cool to try and race away from something and fight them when you get the chance to turn around; would also be a good oppurtunity to itroduce the multiplayer car weapons intot eh single player, really get to utilise them to full effect.

Better graphics!

128 HDR lighting with eye adaption.
Pixel perfect motion blur in both full screen and object based.
Buke depth of field.
Higher rez texture source art used foe mega textures.
Dynamic light shafts, instead of fake 2d light shafts.
Perfect anti aliasing. ( Technology john carmack was working on )
image based reflections, instead of fake 2d reflections.
Dynamic water surfaces.
More physics based objects, like doom 3 or source engine games.

I want to be able to open all the closed / fake doors in the game. Lock picking? And it would be nice if there was some content behind them ;)

Looking forward to DLC!
