What exactly is the problem with Nazeem?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 2:59 pm

Yes, what is everyone's peeve with Nazeem? All he says is 'have you been to the cloud district?' and seems a bit snooty like many npcs. Skyrim has plenty of worse jerks so what is outstanding in Nazeem's case? I think there was a quest attached to him that I played in November, but it's been so long that I'd forgotten what it was.

Just that you hear it everytime you walk by him in Whiterun. He also has a key to a "Whitesands Manor" or something like that. But no location with that name exists.

It is the belittlement by him especially when one is a Thane. I find it refreshing, but not annoying.

What gets me is the line with "I used to be an adventurer like you...". Not because of the line itself, but because of the fame this line has won. Only today did I start with The Battle of Whiterun and I had to reload, because one of the guards on my way to the fight gave me this line and it made me laugh uncontrollably and I just could not continue.

He says it every time you pass him by, every frakkin time.It takes some serious willpower not to plant a battle-ax in his skull.

That is a work of art. The only better Nazeem picture I've ever found on the internet is the screenshot of his decapitated head in Camilla's tomato bin.

You mean aside from "Looking for my husband? Try the Jarl's backside. That's usually where he stuffs himself these days." or "If you run into my husband Nazeem, remind him that he's not married to himself." ?

Well, in that case, she must be DEFINITELY cheating on him.

It's not just what he says to the player. Even how he interacts with others is lame. Like he tells Carlotta her vegetables aren't fresh.. she immediately responds with "Umm, I just got them outside of Whiterun". And then he responds with "If you got them from my farm, they'd be twice as fresh."

He's the annoying "one upper" guy. There's nothing to like about people like this.

Unlikeable characters like Nazeem are still important to the over all atmosphere, in my humble opinion. He is annoying and you do hate him, but I thank the developers for adding him to the game. His dialog grates on our patience because we hear it far too often, and that' a problem with all NPC dialog, not just his.

He also annoys the Dunmer Hunter at the Market, telling him that there are some dunmer spicery on his meat. Then the dunmer said "No just salt. I hope you aren't afraid of salt"

I'm not "afraid" of anything. I simply prefer quality merchandise. No, no this meat won't do at all. Too much fat, and it all smells... wrong.
I actually advise the Jarl on political matters. My input is invaluable, of course. But this is all probably a bit over your head.

Just a few of his annoying talking...

Now when I see Nazeem I make sure that I stay far enough away from him so that he does not speak to me ^^

One of the best screen shots I've seen. Curious though, how long did it take for you to get that one?

On an evil play-through I'm going to butcher him in plain sight and leave his body in the well opening as a warning.
