Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:39 am

What games that you've loved and played for days on end but you've just lost the urge to play?
Fallout Series (needs something new a new element its just constantly, where in barren wasteland saving fools who dont deserve it)
Gears, I loved 1 but never had the urge to play 2 or 3
Call of duty, i played up to MW1 and then i just never wanted to play them again
Homefront, i played it 5 times and then just stopped wanting to
Prototype, awesome game played it for 40 hours on my first go and i loved it never play it anyone

Pretty much any FPS after the first 100 hours. Hell, the only game I can stand to play right now is FO3 and thats only because I took a 6 month hiatus from it.

Oblivion is finally dead to me. It's been a love-hate relationship for a while. I'm addicted to so many mods that it crashes constantly, so I gave up. I put a solid 1,000 hours into it so I don't feel bad.

I downloaded a couple dozen mods and texture overhauls for Fallout 3 earlier this summer, then never played the game again. I've played it for about an hour on my new computer, which is a year and a half old now. Most of that time was spent beating up Butch and his mom with a baseball bat.

L.A. Noire. I loved it but haven't completed it yet, and really have no desire to go back to it. I don't know why, it's a great game but...
Maybe it will grab my attention again later.

Halo: Reach - Played everyday since it came out until around May (Not exaggerating, I really did, I made sure to get every challenge). Got bored and sick of AAs. I still play, but maybe only a couple hours a week. And now I'm not even interested in CEA or the next trilogy, I think the whole franchise got old to me.

WoW - Used to play it daily since vanilla (I have over a year of playtime clocked) until I got bored in the middle of WotLK. Tried coming back during Cata with a couple friends, but it didn't last. Got bored again and haven't played in maybe a month. And I don't see myself getting anymore of the xpacs.

I was surprised to find Morrowind really didn't grab me at all last time I played; granted, I've always preferred its younger sibling, but Morrowind always had a special magic of its own. But that had gone the last time I'd played it: perhaps I was just in a mood on the day (not unlikely), or perhaps things have moved on too far and it's increasingly looking its age. I'm not giving up on it altogether, but I guess I need to accept that it's an old game that's already given me hundreds of hours, so it's probably had its day.

Fallout NV. I just got bored of it after the first playthrough. I still play the trilogy a lot, though. Fallout 2 and 3 the most.
RTS games, any.
Any GTA game.
Any FPS game.

Basically I'm getting tired of all my games.

Oblivion (I knoooow. Maybe within the next month as Skyrim gets even closer)
Fallout 3
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Final Fantasy 13 (More of a "I played it a lot, then moved and never got back to playing it")
Left 4 Dead 1/2 (I'd play it again in a heartbeat if anyone else wanted to play, but I won't pick it up myself)
Counter Strike: Source

Oblivion. I find myself playing Morrowind lately- I haven't even bothered to install Oblivion.

Otherwise, my game selection is pretty basic: I have about 10 games that I'll play occasionally (I really don't game too much anymore), and I'll play through one, enjoy it, then not want to play it for a year. I just keep recycling about 10 games this way. I haven't bought a new game since Oblivion (and don't think I've been missing too much either).

Replaying LA Noire is like watching a good movie again and again for 30 hours, so I can see why you have no desire to play it. Come back to it in a year and i'm sure you'll have some fun with it. :)

(I personally had no desire to ever replay it so I traded it in.)

Starcraft 2 lost it's fire for me a long time ago. Mainly because I was in the beta for such a long time, so I got enough playing time with it.

Here are some franchises that have lost their fire with the release of their current games:

Spoiler
The Fable franchise has definitely lost its fire. Fable 3 had some interesting concepts like evolving weapons but I felt like the whole game was reached its story arch too soon and attempted to create another one (very poorly) when you had to rule the kingdom and make all those "hard decisions."

Bioshock 2 may have destroyed the Bioshock franchise for me. The whole thing felt recycled and uninspired. The textures also looked extremely posterized on the Xbox as well.

Dragon Age 2 was an indication that the franchise is losing its fire. It played like Dragon Age 1 with a different take on game mechanics. There was a good amount of recycled content, from robes, to weapons and armor. The graphics were also a big step...in the wrong direction.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion. I played them so much and now I dislike them. I can't return to Fallout 3 after NV, and Oblivion is boring.

WoW died to me a few months back. About a month or two after Cata came out. Used to be one of my favorite games of all time, but Blizzard went downhill, partially because of Activision.

Halo Reach. I still play it, and I know it's still probably the best FPS on the market, I just don't play it very often anymore.

I pre-ordered Witcher 2 last December, played right after release date for about 10-12 hours, then I got somewhat bored in the Flotsam area and simply haven't been able to motivate myself to dive back into it.

I found the combat encounters got a bit repetitive (at least on the "Hard" setting) as most enemies in open spaces tend to stop attacking you if you take a few steps backward and wait for you to heal. Enemies have these very limited pathing areas and if you take one step on the other side of the line, they turn around and immediately stop fighting you. This issue was a bit worse in Arcania Gothic 4, but it is essentially the same problem in Witcher 2.

Perhaps there is a mod, or one of the recent patches that adjusts this setting?

Any suggestions for some fun quests in Flotsam, or some way to get back into enjoying this game? any other mods you might recommend to improve crafting, inventory, or anything else?

Tony Hawk, Ghost Recon, Rainbow 6, and Halo. I used to love playing those franchises. Now I just play the latest COD game and wait for the next. Been playing Black Ops since its release.

Personally I think your all insane about Gears of War, Fallout and GTA, but that's my opinion.

Project Gotham Racing 2 was once my favourite racing game...then I played Grid, which sort of ruined it for me.
Grid, but not because I grew tired of it. I started playing Split Second a lot, which is a great game, but the control is vastly different to the more realistic style of Grid. Split Second has ruined the near perfect control I use to have over most cars in Grid.
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2: I don't know what happened with this, I tried playing it and I could not get into it at all.
I got bored of Pure after a couple of hours, a surprisingly fast game with very little variety.
The most surprising for me is Batman: Arkham Asylum. Its a simply astounding game with the best fighting mechanics I have ever had the pleasure of using...but then I got Fallout: New Vegas and I decided to shelve Batman for a bit while I explored the Mojave. I just haven't felt the motivation of getting back into it.

None of these are bad games, they are without a doubt all some of the best games I have ever played and I recommend them to anyone.

I hope Skyrim fixes this :(

Just Cause 2.

Loved it at first... but now it just bores the hell out of me. I don't think i've ever lost interest in a game so suddenly before. The grappling hook seemed awesome at first, but now it just seems far too effortless and convenient. And the world seemed stunning at first, until I realised it was a pretty lifeless, empty shell that isn't really worth exploring.

I'd still recommend it to people - it's just not the vast game you can sink hundreds of hours into, as I expected it would be. Maybe a modding community could do wonders with it... and make it achieve it's full potential.
